Everybody loves Blockbuster Videos, everybody is loving this new "Total Access" program. Even the employees are loving it, to a certain point. Unfortunately the upper management doesn't seem to really know or care how hard their employees are working. Believe it or not most BB employees would rather focus their energy on customer relations, and repeat business than that all important spend more money. The pressure is on for those tiring employees right now to sell you something with your "total access" exchange. So the next time you're in your local Blockbuster, and your cashier seems a little pushy for you to buy something. Popcorn, soda, candy, ice cream whatever. Please be patient and understanding with them, and maybe even buy an extra soda.

I know it's not your problem, but if you had any idea what goes on behind the scenes. Well lets just say the job isn't quite as easy as it may seem.

I have a few friends that work for the movie industry and I been told that Blockbuster is owned by a Christian organization and that they actually edit the movies they rent out. Has anyone else heard about this? Any Blockbuster employees out there?

daisy - i used to do the blockbuster thing all the time... i never noticed any movies that were re-edited for them. urban myth, perhaps?

Omnislash, I agree that is what happens in the retail world. I know I've worked it most of my adult life.

That's why I'm just asking for a little human compassion, and an extra dash of patience the next time you rent a video. Maybe even a nice word, would be appreciated.

Thanks-wrks4me

Thanks

just wondering a few things about block buster. since your a employee, maybe you can answer these questions.

1.how frustrating is it when customers mix dvd boxes all over the place?

2. has anyone purposly/accidently knocked over a shelf and left a huge mess?

3. why doesn't block buster rent out porn?

4. how old is the candy by the cashier?

5. do you get to choose the movie playing on the monitors, or is it pre selected?

6. what's the oddest movie a person rented? do you find it odd when you see certain people rent certain movies (exmp. a huge scary looking biker renting power puff girls videos, or little old lady renting abunch of porn).

Samo714,
1) It's not, it's the norm.
2) Not usually, when it does happen most clean it up as best they can. We still have to go back and re-do it. You'd be amazed as to how particular Corp is about where and how many movies are placed.
3) Prides itself on being a "family" establishment.
4) Depends on the candy.
5) If there's no bosses around or coming in, we choose it and pray we don't get caught. That's usually at night though, otherwise we have to play the "trailor" DVD that Corp sends us.
6) The oddest wasn't what was rented, but their opinion on it afterwards. Two elderly ladies (70-75) rented, "maria full of grace" if you're not familiar with it. In a nutshell, it's sub-titled about a young female drug mule forced to transport illeagle drugs. They absolutely loved it, was one of the best they've seen. Go figure?

I recently lost my older brother Steve to lung cancer. My father told him when he was a child to take care of his little sister. And he never stopped, we couldn't have been closer had we been twins. He would have been 49 this month. My outlook on life now more than ever is, life is way to short don't sweat the small stuff. Laugh your way through life. If you don't feel you have anything to laugh about, pray to your God to provide you with something to laugh about. But more importantly have faith that he will provide you with all your needs. R.I.P. Steve, I love you! March 20, 1958 - Feb 22, 2007
