DREAM Act Back on the Agenda!
Call Your Senators NOW!!

Things are moving rapidly on Capitol Hill. Senate offices and Hill newspapers are reporting today that the DREAM Act will likely be on the Senate floor as a stand-alone bill within days! This bill - S.2205 - was introduced last week by Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), and Richard Lugar (R-IN). One source indicates that action may take place on the DREAM Act as early as WEDNESDAY!!!

S.2205 grants amnesty to illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16. There is NO CAP on the numbers and NO AGE LIMIT for applicants. In addition, the purported educational requirement in the bill is virtually meaningless. Paragraph d(2) of Section 4 allows Homeland Security to waive the educational requirement for applicants who can show “compelling circumstances” for the inability to meet it.  Finally, the bill also provides that illegal aliens who are granted amnesty under the bill are eligible for federal financial aid.

Right now, staffers are anticipating two important votes: the first will be a cloture vote to bring the bill up on the floor; the second will be a cloture vote to end debate on the bill itself. Please call your Senators immediately and urge them to VOTE NO ON BOTH CLOTURE VOTES! If the first cloture vote prevails and the DREAM Act gets onto the floor, news sources indicate that the bill may become the springboard for numerous other immigration amendments. One mentioned in particular is an increase to high-tech H-1B visas.

Finally, there is one more threat on the Hill at this very moment. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has filed an amendment to the FY08 Labor-Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill (H.R. 3043) that may increase employment-based green cards by up to 300,000. These green cards would be aimed at importing nurses and high-tech employees to compete with American workers.

Call your Senators now and urge them to vote NO on amnesty and NO on importing foreign workers who will drive down wages and compete with American workers for jobs. Tell your Senators that if they were serious about true immigration reform, they would:

  • secure the border;

  • mandate employment eligibility verification;

  • put an end to state and local sanctuary policies;

  • stop businesses from importing cheap foreign labor; and

  • end chain migration.

The American people expect real solutions, not short-term "fixes" that pander to big business and corporate lobbyists.

To find the phone numbers of your Senators, click here.

Members, Activists, Friends—in our haste to get you timely information from Capitol Hill today (October 22, 2007), the previous version of this alert contained the incorrect bill number for the Labor-Health and Human Services Bill. The correct bill number is H.R.3043 as indicated above. We apologize for the confusion and hope you are already on the phone talking to your Senators!

Since when has the American public forgotten anything? "We the People" have an unforgiving memory and we hold a grudge forever. Remember this when the time comes for a vote.

Yo Bro, after watching "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdochs War on Journalisim" yer gonna ask that, LOL'S. By and large the media seems to have gotten more into the entertainment business than solid fair reporting of facts.
They can also collect Social security to if the first bill is passed you mention.
When you guys come up, have all yer information ready, or better yet if you can, send it to my e-mail. I need the3 info to coordinate and have the facts for people about the march. We will start making flyers and posting them.

Well, you might want to open your home to millions of criminals. But You shouldn't be able to force feed me in to your wishes. I'm not the one trying to change the constitutional amendments. I just say to enforce the law as it is writen. The majority of this country believes as I do. We the People" have finally had enough and we aren't going to stantd by and let you and people like you sink this country. You speak of the anti-christ as if you know the exact date. All though history every generation has used that excuse to pursuade the public to believe the way that they do. I believe in God and I believe that some day the world will end. It's human nature to take and take until there is nothing left. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE DEVIL HIMSELF IS GOING TO END THE WORLD. Get off your horse and do something to help the situation. If you like overcrowded schools, social insability, unemployment poverty, and lawlessness in the streets then maybe YOU SHOULD MOVE TO MEXICO!!!!!!

Also, DA... Do you think WE THE PEOPLE of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA should pick up the tab for all the children of the world???

I don't think you'll like it very much if your taxes are doubled tripled or quadrupled...

Now the trade unions are opening their arms to the illegals gaining power and union dues. From this Time article:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,95211,
00.html
comes this:
"We don't care about green cards," says Doug Dority, head of the 1.4 million-member United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. "We care about union cards." It would seem that big unions don't really give a rats azz about the average American worker. They care about themselves.

Ella,

Right on! "They were marrying and giving in marriage and then the flood came"!

The UAW, during the 90's, had a membership of 400,000 in the Detroit area. Today, that number is.........................70,000!!

Even Cesar Chavez wanted our immigration laws enforced so BIG-AG couldn't hire "[...]" to replace his Farmworkers. Oh geeeee, how they conveniently forget!! Just who are these so-called Unions?? They're NOT looking out for the American worker that's for sure!!!

I am Joe Everyman, I work for a living and am tired of paying for people who don't want to work or illegal immigrants. I don't have a problem with legal immigration, as they contribute to the common good. I think the borders should be closed and we should ship all the molesters out. Speak up America or you will be dictated to.
