Write, call or scream at the top of your lungs. But make sure your congressman and Representitives know how you feel. HERE IS OUR CHANCE FOR TRUE IMMIGRATION REFORM.

Senators Introduce Immigration Reform Package

At a press conference on Wednesday coinciding with George Bush's endorsement of John McCain for President, a dozen Senators announced the introduction of an enforcement-oriented legislative package aimed at tackling our immigration crisis. Many of the bills represent ideas discussed during last year's immigration debate; others are new bills being introduced to address emerging problems. According to Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), one of the leaders of this effort, the goal of introducing the package was to "illustrate to the American people that we have not forgotten the importance of the issue." (CQ Today, March 5, 2008)

Although the text of each bill is not yet public, information provided by the Senator's offices indicates that the package includes the following legislation:

  • S. 2710, sponsored by Senator Sessions, authorizes Homeland Security to use an employer's failure to resolve a "no match" notice as evidence that the employer knowingly hired an illegal alien in violation of federal law (INA §274A(a));
  • S. 2711, sponsored by Senator Sessions, requires employers to use E-Verify and raises the penalties on employers who hire illegal aliens;
  • S. 2712, sponsored by Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), mandates that Homeland Security complete the 700 miles of fence required by the Secure Fence Act by 2010;
  • S. 2713, sponsored by Senator David Vitter (R-LA), prohibits federal community policing funds from being distributed to states and municipalities with sanctuary policies;
  • S. 2716, sponsored by Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), authorizes the National Guard to continue guarding the border;
  • S. 2717, sponsored by Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), expands the participation of state and local officials in the enforcement of immigration laws through the 287(g) program;
  • S. 2720, sponsored by Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), denies financial aid to countries and prohibits the issuance of visas to nationals of countries that unreasonably delay or deny repatriation of those ordered removed by the U.S.;
  • S. 2721, sponsored by Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), modifies the U.S. citizenship examination; and
  • S. 2722, sponsored by Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), prohibits aliens who are repeat drunk drivers from receiving legal status or immigration benefits.

The Senators promoting the true immigration reform package intend to bring the measures directly to the floor using Senate Rule 14. (The Hill, March 5, 2008) However, Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA), a co-sponsor of the 2007 Bush-Kennedy amnesty legislation, dismissed the enforcement-based package as dead-on-arrival. "I don't think that that's going to get very far in the Senate," said Kennedy. "I think there's an increasing appreciation of the need for comprehensive reform and I expect we'll get to it in the next administration." (Fox News, March 5, 2008)

Don't let a politician dictate to you. We control the government by election. We have stoped them dead in thier tracks on more than one occasion, we have the numbers to get this passed.

San Francisco Enacts Plan to Give Identification Card to Illegal Aliens

On Wednesday, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom signed into law an ordinance that would require San Francisco to issue identification cards to the city's nearly 40,000 illegal aliens as well as other residents who do not possess California driver's licenses. The ordinance, which was modeled after a similar plan to provide municipal identification cards to illegal aliens in New Haven, Connecticut, had been approved the previous week by city lawmakers. The San Francisco ordinance will go into effect at the end of August 2008. Upon signing the legislation, the mayor stated, "San Francisco does more than most other cities in the United States for its residents, but you need to prove you are a resident and there's no easier way to do it than having one card. I don't think it's that big of a deal and I think it's inevitable in other cities." (Associated Press, November 29, 2007).

The municipal identification cards, which will cost $15 for adults and $5 for children, will be issued to applicants presenting as little as a local utility bill in his or her name. (Los Angeles Daily News, November 29, 2007). The cards will identify the carrier by name, birth date and photograph, but will not indicate the legal status of the holder or the holder's gender. (CBS News, November 21, 2007). While the ID cards will not allow illegal aliens to drive or work in the city, they will expressly permit their holders to obtain city health services, use public libraries and receive discounts at local museums. In addition, a number of banks, including Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Washington Mutual, and US Bank, have all indicated a willingness to accept the cards as proof of identification for banking purposes. Local businesses receiving funds from the city will be required to accept the cards as valid identification and proof of local residence. (San Francisco Chronicle, November 28, 2007).

Immigration reform advocates argue that the San Francisco identification card program legitimizes illegal immigration. FAIR spokesman Ira Mehlman told the Los Angeles Times that the provision of identity cards can have dangerous consequences because it impedes the enforcement of federal immigration law. "Nobody says the city of San Francisco has to enforce the laws, but their minimal obligation should be not to impede the enforcement of federal immigration law," said Mehlman. (Los Angeles Times, November 19, 2007).

Even some San Francisco residents take issue with the program. Cinnamon Stillwell, a San Francisco area writer, argues the provision of municipal identification cards is hardly altruistic. Writing for the San Francisco Chronicle, she described the illegal alien population as "[a] permanent underclass of laborers [that] would not exist were it not for the unaddressed social and economic problems in their countries of origin, the perpetuation of cheap labor by transnational corporations and small businesses alike, and the inability and in some cases unwillingness of the U.S. government to control the nation's borders or enforce its laws." (San Francisco Chronicle, November 28, 2007). Ms. Stillwell said issuing these cards legitimizes and perpetuates the already exploitative situation in which they currently live.

I may have been silent this past month but I have not been SILENCED. Are they kidding. What next, drivers licenses and amnesty? We went on our ride, but due to  another riders fatal accident, the cause changed mid stream. Got to take care of our own, was what I was told. And rightfully I didn't argue. I couldn't. Lets all stay healthy and safe this holiday season. Merry christmas to all and to all a good night.

American People are Heard as Senate Rejects DREAM Act!

This afternoon the Senate rejected a motion to bring up the DREAM Act on the floor by a vote of 52 to 44 - far short of the 60 votes necessary to proceed on the bill. The furious counter-attack began only 48 hours ago, when news broke that the DREAM Act would resurface. FAIR sent out an alert to all of our members, activists, and friends and you stepped up to the plate and took on the entire U.S. Senate.

The rapid pace at which amnesty supporters were trying to push this bill through meant that there was little time for anyone to prepare. Prior to the vote, Senators held a brief debate on the merits on the bill. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), the author of the bill, argued that failure to pass the DREAM Act amounted to turning our backs on the children of illegal aliens. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) and Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called the bill amnesty and expressed frustration that the United States Senate was repeatedly ignoring the demands of the American people for enforcement of our immigration laws.

An unexpected turn of events took place on the floor when Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) stood up to announce that she had been working with Senator Durbin on possible "compromise" DREAM Act language. She stated, "I do believe there is a compromise approach to the DREAM Act that could have bipartisan support," and argued that this measure is "isolated from the entire immigration issue" (Congress Daily). Senator Durbin acknowledged this and promised to continue to work with Senator Hutchison if the vote succeeded. He also warned other Senators not to expect any action on other immigration measures such as AgJOBS or guest worker programs if the DREAM Act did not pass.

Fortunately, however, enough Senators heard the voices of the American people, who were calling in by the thousands, and the vote to proceed on the bill failed. Political observers are already suggesting that the downfall of the DREAM Act signals a resounding rejection of amnesty as a national immigration policy and the building of momentum on the side of true immigration reformers. And, while there are still threats looming on Capitol Hill, there is no doubt that this strong victory will bolster our ability to defeat them.

Thank you members, activists, and friends for your unwavering dedication to true immigration reform and your tireless efforts to stop damaging legislation such as the DREAM Act! We could not have won this victory without all of your hard work!!!

To see how your Senators voted on the DREAM Act, click here. To listen to today's podcast, click here.

We have done it again. We told them that if they continue to push this down our throats we will see them in November and now they are scared. "We the People have spoken loud and clear again and we have been heard.!!!!!!!!!!

DREAM Act Back on the Agenda!
Call Your Senators NOW!!

Things are moving rapidly on Capitol Hill. Senate offices and Hill newspapers are reporting today that the DREAM Act will likely be on the Senate floor as a stand-alone bill within days! This bill - S.2205 - was introduced last week by Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chuck Hagel (R-NE), and Richard Lugar (R-IN). One source indicates that action may take place on the DREAM Act as early as WEDNESDAY!!!

S.2205 grants amnesty to illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16. There is NO CAP on the numbers and NO AGE LIMIT for applicants. In addition, the purported educational requirement in the bill is virtually meaningless. Paragraph d(2) of Section 4 allows Homeland Security to waive the educational requirement for applicants who can show “compelling circumstances” for the inability to meet it.  Finally, the bill also provides that illegal aliens who are granted amnesty under the bill are eligible for federal financial aid.

Right now, staffers are anticipating two important votes: the first will be a cloture vote to bring the bill up on the floor; the second will be a cloture vote to end debate on the bill itself. Please call your Senators immediately and urge them to VOTE NO ON BOTH CLOTURE VOTES! If the first cloture vote prevails and the DREAM Act gets onto the floor, news sources indicate that the bill may become the springboard for numerous other immigration amendments. One mentioned in particular is an increase to high-tech H-1B visas.

Finally, there is one more threat on the Hill at this very moment. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has filed an amendment to the FY08 Labor-Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill (H.R. 3043) that may increase employment-based green cards by up to 300,000. These green cards would be aimed at importing nurses and high-tech employees to compete with American workers.

Call your Senators now and urge them to vote NO on amnesty and NO on importing foreign workers who will drive down wages and compete with American workers for jobs. Tell your Senators that if they were serious about true immigration reform, they would:

  • secure the border;

  • mandate employment eligibility verification;

  • put an end to state and local sanctuary policies;

  • stop businesses from importing cheap foreign labor; and

  • end chain migration.

The American people expect real solutions, not short-term "fixes" that pander to big business and corporate lobbyists.

Members, Activists, Friends—in our haste to get you timely information from Capitol Hill today (October 22, 2007), the previous version of this alert contained the incorrect bill number for the Labor-Health and Human Services Bill. The correct bill number is H.R.3043 as indicated above. We apologize for the confusion and hope you are already on the phone talking to your Senators!

Since when has the American public forgotten anything? "We the People" have an unforgiving memory and we hold a grudge forever. Remember this when the time comes for a vote.

Amnesty Advocates Set to Bring DREAM Act to the Floor!
Call Your Senators Now!

This morning, we heard from reliable sources that amnesty advocates in the Senate are poised to renew their push to pass the DREAM Act. Our sources tell us that the DREAM Act will be offered as an amendment to the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill (H.R. 3043) on the Senate floor, most likely late TODAY or TOMORROW. We understand things to be moving so quickly that even Senate staffers do not have the text of the amendment!

Nevertheless, we do know that the DREAM Act grants amnesty to illegal aliens who entered the U.S. before the age of 16 and have met certain educational requirements. Those who are granted amnesty under the bill may later on Petition the Department of Homeland Security to grant their parents legal status.  And if past versions are an indicator, the amendment will have no caps on the numbers, no age limit on applicants, will allow "conditional legal permanent resident status" to be extended indefinitely, and will provide for retroactive benefits. We can also expect the amendment to authorize in-state tuition to illegal aliens and make illegal aliens who receive conditional LPR status eligible for federal financial aid.

ACT NOW TO STOP THE DREAM ACT!!!! Please call your Senators IMMEDIATELY and let them know that you oppose the DREAM Act.  Tell them:

  • A vote for the DREAM Act is a vote for amnesty;
  • The DREAM Act unfairly rewards illegal alien parents with exactly what they wanted—legal status for their children and a U.S. education at taxpayer expense;
  • When you told them you opposed the Bush-Kennedy Amnesty Bill, YOU MEANT IT and are upset they are trying to sneak provisions of it past the American people;
  • You are watching how they vote.

Last month, you inundated Senate offices with thousands and thousands of calls opposed to the DREAM Act.  Your efforts stopped the DREAM Act in its tracks. Please act now to stop it again!

To find the phone numbers of your Senators, click here.

After you have called your own Senators, please call Senate Democratic and Republican leadership:

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) - (202)224-2158

Majority Whip Richard Durbin (D-IL) - (202)224-9447

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) - (202)224-3135

Minority Whip Trent Lott (R-MS) - (202)224-2708

When will they get the picture? "We the People" will never stand

idally by and allow our elected officials to give away the American

dream. We work hard for what we have and no illegal alien/criminal

deserves to get a d*mn thing. They say that they pay taxes and are

 therefore intitaled. Just who is paying taxes? What kind of taxes?

And how do we know thier telling the truth? If they have a REAL SS#

then they aren't here illegally. And if they use a fake SS# then they

aren't really paying taxes are they? Sales taxes are paid by every

person in the country that spends money. Those money's are different

than income, state disability, unemployment, social security and federal

 taxes. Just because I pay 7 cents tax on a soda doesn't mean that I should get

a tax refund at the end of the year, or qualify for S.S.  when I retire.

That sounds like a good idea to me. What do you think about starting a war with mexico?  We can round up all the terrorist illegals in this country. Then we put them in internment camps with three walls. The open side on the border of mexico. BUILD THE WALL. Put machine gun turrets every 500 meters and bring the soldiers home to protect Americans. Let the sheites and the muslums sort out thier own problems. That's all that they want anyway. And as far as the government giving marriage rights to gays. The people already spoke loud and clear when they voted it down a few years ago. A marriage is between a man and a woman. Just like God says in the bible. As far as the poloticians taking religion out of government and our schools in the sixties, thats when the troubles started in this country. When you take away the moral convictions of people they only look after  themselves. It's time for action people. Anything, something, as long as we stand up and shut down this new Sodem and Gamora that is being created right under our noses. Guess who people, I'm back.

Recent House Bills Make Strides Towards True Immigration Reform

Over the past month, several members of the House of Representatives have taken important steps to encourage state and local governments to take up immigration enforcement in the absence of federal action. On September 7, Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced the Charlie Norwood CLEAR Act of 2007 (H.R. 3494). The legislation is named in honor of the late Congressman Charlie Norwood (R-GA), who initially introduced the legislation in 2003 as the Clear Law Enforcement for Criminal Alien Removal Act. The bill garnered one-quarter of House members as co-sponsors, but was never enacted. The CLEAR Act clarifies the inherent authority of local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws. The legislation also provides that local law enforcement agencies not inquiring into the immigration status of suspected aliens will lose federal dollars that go to cover the cost of detaining illegal aliens in state prisons and local jails.

On September 14, Representative Ginny Brown-Waite (R-FL) introduced similar legislation targeting sanctuary cities. The Accountability in Enforcing Immigration Laws Act of 2007 (H.R. 3531) authorizes the detention of all illegal aliens apprehended until they are deported and it creates incentives for those states and municipalities assisting in the identification and detention of illegal aliens. Under the bill, cities that harbor criminal illegal aliens will see a 25 percent reduction in non-emergency Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding within six months. This reduction in DHS funding may increase to 50 percent. Finally, the legislation increases the penalty for illegal entry from a misdemeanor to a felony. According to Rep. Brown-Waite, "When cities proclaim that they will not check immigration status, they essentially become a safe haven for not only out-of-status immigrants, but criminal aliens who have often committed violent atrocities in our country." At this time, the bill has nine co-sponsors, including Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Elton Gallegly (R-CA), and Tom Tancredo (R-CO).

Lastly, on Thursday, September 20, Representative Dave Weldon (R-FL) introduced legislation authorizing state and local governments to impose additional employment verification requirements on employers and to provide state penalties for hiring illegal aliens. The bill is aimed at undoing the recent federal court decision striking down the efforts of the city of Hazelton, Pennsylvania to punish businesses which employ illegal aliens by revoking their business licenses. The legislation clearly reasserts the authority of states and municipalities to sanction employers through state and local power to issue business licenses. In addition, it allows state and local governments to impose more demanding standards of employment verification than those imposed by federal law. According to Rep. Weldon, "The federal government has passed immigration laws but refuses to enforce them. My bill will ensure that communities, which are forced to pay for tens of billions of dollars in services to illegal immigrants, are able to address local problems caused by the influx of illegal immigrants." (TCPalm.com, September 21, 2007).

This sounds good, but?

Any comments?

I have been doing some research and am horified at the statistics for populations in California alone. The following information was gotten from the U.S. Census Bureau, INS and other state and federal sourses.

California is ranked first in the country for the highest population of illegal immigrants. That is 28% of all the nations illegal immigrants live in California.

In 2005 California had an estimated illegal immigrant population of 2,778,000.

In 2004 California taxpayers spent $7728.5 million per year on illegal aliens and thier children in public schools.

In Los Angeles, where more than 40 percent of residents were born in another country, 22 percent live below the poverty line. Nearly one third say they can't speak english very well. One in ten adults has less than six years of education and 41 percent of the 9 have less than a ninth grade education.

In 1994 Proposition 187: Califorina voters banned the use of tax money to provide non-emergency care to illegal aliens, But a U.S. district judge overturned the ballot proposition in 1999. California now provides both legal and illegal immigrant's with emergency MEDICAID, PRE-NATAL CARE and NURSING HOME CARE.

As the state cuts back it's health care budget to try to make ends meet, the increase in uncompensated care for immigrants has forced some hospitals to reduce staff, increase rates, cut back services, and close maternity wards and trauma centers. In the last decade, 60 California emergency rooms have closed. California hospital losses were $360,000,000.00 in 2001,

One third of the patients treated by the L.A. county health system are illegal immigrants. During 2002 the cost for providing health care to illegal immigrants was 350 million dollars. Officials said that if that money had been available, the county could have avoided the closure of 16 health clinics and possibly two hospitals.

California's projected fiscal cost to provide emergency medical care, education and incarceration resulting if an amnisty is adopted for illegal residents will be $10,529,000.00

THAT'S BILLIONS people, when is enough, enough. Lets stand up and be heard before it's too late.

Enforce the laws on the books, Deport anyone that can't provide proof of citizenship or legal residency, Stop the financial handouts and close the border until this situation is delt with. President Bush already signed the bill for funding a fence along the border. BUILD IT!

When we stop giving away money they will go away.

WOW, is this the state of our nation? What happened to morals? What has happened to wanting to be a better person? What happens when the drug dealing family member today drives a Escalade or a Big flashy car with 24" wheels and Thumping base, buys the kids a few bawbles, he is a role model. Our young children look at them as if they are gods. They want to emulate thier every move.

I think it started out with OH, its an unfair law. I don't have to obey it. Not it's an unfair law we need to change it. Laws that are found to be unjust or unfair are changed all the time. You can't choose to follow only the laws that make your life easier. The law is the law. ALL illegal imigrants are criminals. I don't want criminals sitting next to my wife on a bus or walking behind me on the streets. I have heard some of you say that everyone breaks the law. I'm sorry you feel that way. Because when your children grow up they will break the laws because you told them they could. Who says what laws can be broke. If I'm hungry it's O.K. to rob a grocery store or mug the pizza guy? Hey what if i need gas for my beat up truck to get to work? I'll just hold-up a gas station. Who says that if we're mad at the neigbor, we can't just shoot them.

I know what you're going to say. Those are real crimes, they cause hurt. Well when my children could'nt go to college, when my son got beat up on the way home from school or when my grand-daugter was kidnapped from her mother and taken to Mexico by her Illegal immigrant father, people were hurt.

Crime is Crime. EVERY CRIME CAN OR DOES CAUSE HURT TO OTHERS. That is why there are laws. If you don't want to follow the laws of this country, maybe you should go to mexico.  They seem to have all kinds of crime. And take all the other law breaking illegal immigrants with you.

And thats my rant for the day.

I apologize if I hurt anybodys feelings, but after reading a few of the latest blogs this is how I felt at the moment. Have a great day and stay safe out there.

Are we just belly achen or are we truly moved by the issue of Illegal Immigration. Will "We the People" just sit back again and be dictated to about what we have to endure? I am tired of my tax dollars going to provide for over crowded classrooms, over burdened emergency rooms, over burdened courts, the welfare system and high unemployment rates. Think about a day when state and federal funding for education, health care, social security, the judicial system and public saftey is not an issue. Take away the cost of providing for an estimated "10 million illegal immigrants in the United States today"(Center for Immigration Studies) and you will see a day when you won't have to explain to your children why they can't go to college or why you can't afford to take them to the doctor or why Daddy doesn't have a job.  Have you ever said "What about me? Doesn't anybody care? Doesn't my opinion count?"  I say it is time to let our collective voice be heard. I propose a public demonstration. If the Illegal Aliens can protest for thier right to break our laws, then "We the People" should have the same right to insist that our elected government officials enforce those same laws. Anyday will work . "We the people" just need to make our views heard. I see that the presidential debates in California are being held on Jan. 30/31, 2008. Anybody busy on monday Jan. 28. I say a weekday because of the primetime news coverage. A demonstration so close to the debates would give them something to answer to besides the war on terror, which I also feel strongly about but this is not the time or place. Remember one mind, one voice. It is time that they listen the the majority.

Does anyone know the exact date in time when we as Americans stopped careing about our neigbors? I'm sure that if we could identify the root cause of the beginning of the end, we could just choose to react differently. After reading the posts about McMullen the want a be child molester I have to speak up. I'm sure that I'll be censored but I have to say this. ( SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS) If child molesting was punishable for the first offense with real (not chemical) castration and the second offense was LIFE or DEATH, then these types of crimes would just be a bad memory. Murder is murder and anyone that rapes an adult or a child needs to be removed from this earth. There you go you found my passions in life. My family and heritage, Harley Davidsons and the DEATH PENALTY. If they can't get along then get rid of them!!!!! May God grant me the strength to carry on in a world that I'm scared to walk the streets at night.

I am a father of seven children and on the second time around I married my best friend. I have felt for the past twenty years that I am the luckiest man on this planet.  Everyone that I know calls me an optimist. I feel that I am a realist. Instead of sitting back and waiting for the good to come to me, I work hard and bring the good home. When I see something that I believe is wrong I try to fix it. Or at least tell someone that I think can fix it. I have always believed that every opinion counts, wether I agree with it or not. I will listen to you intently. Process the information that you have given me and then I will tell you how I feel. This is the democratic process as it was designed.

And right now I believe that our government is due for an overhaul. Don't get me wrong. The process works if given the opportunity. The problem is that "We the People" have allowed the politicians to turn our government in to a career path. Term limits are needed to hear more than one persons opinion. Party affiliations need to be thrown out the window.  I want to have a choice about who I vote for, and something needs to be done with campaigning. I know a few people that if they were running for office I would vote for. I bet you do too.

Does anyone have an opinion that they would like to share. Any ideas about what "We the People" can do to move things back in the direction that our fore fathers saw on the horizon not so many years ago.

I am Joe Everyman, I work for a living and am tired of paying for people who don't want to work or illegal immigrants. I don't have a problem with legal immigration, as they contribute to the common good. I think the borders should be closed and we should ship all the molesters out. Speak up America or you will be dictated to.
