Saturday was by far one of the most exciting days a Cub Scout could ask for!

My den took a field trip to J.B. for a day filled with adventure! We started out on a hike just over a mile long, looking for deer and learning map orientation along the way. Our hike ended at the Powder Magazine Museum, where we enjoyed a private tour through military history. Much to our surprise, they were all very well behaved and paid close attention to our guide!

Once finished there, we boarded a 5 Ton Army truck for a ride to the post, where we enjoyed a real "Army" lunch - MRE's ! Darrin (my co-leader) showed the boys how to "cook" their food and then regaled them with exciting tales of life in the field. Fun things, like how to make an MRE bomb, Ranger Pudding and how easy life is when you get 4 squares of TP a day and how to make it last!

When we were finished with the scouts, I took my boys over to another museum in the park (JJ was thoroughly spooked in there!) and we snapped a few photos in the garden.

We had an absolutely wonderful day! Darrin set this up for us and he did a great job! Our driver came in on his day off to give us a ride and "secure" our lunches! Our tour guide did great with all the 1st grade boys and a few "tag along" siblings. Thank you to all of them!

I made a slideshow of our trip, come on in and check it out!

Harp, my girls would have loved to have you in their Girl Scout troop!

Yep, mr_wild, I had as much fun as they did! Cutey, the boys thought they were big shots learning to read that map! Both boys were in their element, Jeanette, but I was shocked by how well Joey behaved! I guess his facination with guns and swords overpowered his need to run around like a madman! It was very educational, Payne, I think JJ remembers EVERYTHING he heard!
