Guns in school!  Should there be guns permitted on our school grounds?  Who decides if a gun should be in the hands of principals and teachers?   We have all seen crimes against students and staff of schools.  VTech and other situations.  Should we be concerned about a teacher having a gun in the classroom?   I just wonder about the teachers who have problems with students, will they use the gun against that student in a fit of rage?  What about the administrator who has an issue with a student or parent and it gets out of control, will he or she use that gun in a fit of rage?  What I'm  saying is will having guns in schools make things worse.  Will crime go up on campus?  Is having a gun in classroom going to save lives?  Can we trust administrators' and teachers' with a gun?  Just who are these people that we trust our children with?  Many that we have trusted our children with have betrayed that trust.  The Media has exposed many teachers and administrators that have committed crimes against children.  News flash!   Teacher arrested for molesting a twelve year old boy!  How many times have we heard that news flash.  Then I think about the teacher or administrator who has been helpless when a intruder has come on campus with a gun and killed innocent people.  If only that teacher had a gun, he could have saved many lives.  When I see the results of a crazy person on campus with guns (the loss of innocent lives). I think to myself that teacher needed a gun.  Should schools have guns?  What do you think?

I think, He** NO! maybe tasers or pepperspray?
but guns??? are they seriously considering this?
if so, just have more security and school police.

I hate disagree, but I say yes. If the teachers had a gun in the school there wouldn't have been as many students die as there were. My pastor told me that in Israel all the teachers pack a pistol on there side. I don't understand why the students and teachers didn't fight back instead of cowering under their desk waiting to be shot. There was one gun man and all those students, they could have threw desks or what ever they could find to knock him down, maybe a few lives would have been lost be not as many and the students in the next room heard the shots they could have went to that room and suprised him coming out of the door and knocked him down. If they would have done like flight 93 on Sept 11th, they may have prevented a lot of lives being lost. I'm sorry but I wouldn't have gone down without a fight. JMO and I don't mean to offend anyone.

Guns in school? To me, that's a bit extreme. However, a deterrant force is necessary just in case of some rampage by some gunmen. I don't know the answer. It's a tough call. Local officials need to work on their specific needs. Each school is different from each other.

i say no to guns at school what if a teacher has a disagreement with a student and he dicides to shoot the student YELLING SELF DEFENCE , im sorry i don't trust the teachers that much , we have corupted teachers out there too , you cant fight violence with violence , and a teacher who is not a police officer should not be carrying around a gun
if they allow teachers to have guns in school IM HOME SCHOOLING .

I agree with memoryjoe not safe to give teachers guns how about bake sales to provide bullet proof walls, desks,or vests to hide behind maybe, but its also just as easy to take that gun away from that teacher then there is a gun loose at school right?? No no no guns at school please !!

I sometimes forget how anti-gun California is. Okay YES teachers should be allowed to carry guns but only after having the proper training. Not all teachers should be allowed to carry guns just like not all pilots were allowed to carry guns on planes.
If a person goes through the proper training, as I have for my job, then yes it is a benifit and shooting someone because they talking trash and claiming self defense would not occur cause you would know what you could and could not do.
Now to the VT case, I doubt that guy had training so yes if he would have been challenged then he would have been stopped before that many people lost thier lives. My father is a school teacher and it's sad when we have to arm our teachers to teach our children but then look at where the children are getting the guns as well, take some resposiblity parents.
