A marine was arrested at Camp Lejeune Sunday afternoon, shortly after the charred remains of his estranged wife, Army nurse Holley Wimunc, were discovered in a brush fire on the outskirts of the North Carolina base.
Cpl. John Wimunc is arrested after police find the body of his missing wife.

Cpl. John Patrick Wimunc, 23, and codefendant Kyle Ryan Alden, 22, both marines stationed at Camp Lejeune, were arrested around 4:30 p.m. Sunday and charged with arson for a fire that burned through Lt. Holley Wimunc's Fayetteville apartment on Thursday, the day she went missing.

Police have yet to confirm publicly that the body found near Camp Lejeune, some 130 miles from Fayetteville, belonged to the nurse, but investigators have "strong suspicions" it is her. The two men have not been connected to the brush fire where the body was discovered.

Holley Wimunc's father released a statement this morning saying police told him that his daughter's remains had been found.

"It is with profound sadness that our family just received the news from authorities that our beloved daughter Holley is dead," Jesse James, of Dubuque, Iowa, said in the statement.
