We've all probably seen those emails that have been circulating recently, you know the ones claiming Barack Obama is a Muslim. Maybe we've seen them in our own Inbox after they have been endlessly forwarded or you may have seen them posted right here on the blogs. This especially goes for myfoxcleveland where these anti-Obama chain emails have been posted at least more than twenty times. Below is the TRUTH about Barack Obama's religion complete with links to external sites backing up what is said. If you still get one of those "Obama is a Muslim" chain emails, go ahead and send this information back to them. Start spreading the truth instead of lies.

"In the internet age, there are going to be lies that are spread all over the place. I have been victimized by these lies. Fortunately, the American people are, I think, smarter than folks give them credit for."

--Barack Obama, MSNBC Debate, January 15, 2008

NEWSWEEK: "Dueling chain e-mails claim he's a radical Muslim or a 'racist' Christian. Both can't be right. We find both are false. If these two nasty e-mail messages are any indication, the 2008 presidential campaign is becoming a very dirty one. One claims that Obama is 'certainly a racist' by virtue of belonging to Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, which it says 'will accept only black parishioners' and espouses a commitment to Africa. Actually, a white theology professor says he's been 'welcomed enthusiastically' at the church, as have other non-blacks. Another e-mail claims that Obama 'is a Muslim,' attended a 'Wahabi' school in Indonesia, took his Senate oath on the Koran, refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and is part of an Islamic plot to take over the U.S. Each of these statements is false. These false appeals to bigotry and fear remind us of the infamous whispering campaign of eight years ago, when anonymous messages just before the South Carolina primary falsely accused Republican candidate John McCain of fathering an illegitimate child by a black woman."READ MORE HERE

PROMINENT JEWISH LEADERS: "As leaders of the Jewish community, none of whose organizations will endorse or oppose any candidate for President, we feel compelled to speak out against certain rhetoric and tactics in the current campaign that we find particularly abhorrent. Of particular concern, over the past several weeks, many in our community have received hateful emails that use falsehood and innuendo to mischaracterize Senator Barack Obama's religious beliefs and who he is as a person. These tactics attempt to drive a wedge between our community and a presidential candidate based on despicable and false attacks and innuendo based on religion. We reject these efforts to manipulate members of our community into supporting or opposing candidates."READ MORE HERE

JEWISH U.S. SENATORS: "Over the past several weeks, many in the Jewish community have received hateful emails that use falsehood and innuendo about Senator Barack Obama's religion and attack him personally. As Jewish United States Senators who have not endorsed a candidate for the Democratic nomination, we condemn these scurrilous attacks. We find it particularly abhorrent that these attacks arc apparently being sent specifically to the Jewish Community. Jews, who have historically been the target of such attacks, should be the first to reject these tactics. We won't dignify these falsehoods by repeating them in order to refute them. Instead, we will express our outrage at these tactics, which are being used to demonize a good and decent man and our friend and colleague. Attempting to manipulate voters into supporting or opposing one candidate or another based on despicable and fictitious attacks is disgraceful. These false and malicious attacks should not be part of our political discourse."READ MORE HERE

Los Angeles Times: The Rumors About Obama Are "False And Vile." The Los Angeles Times wrote in an editorial, "That the rumors are false and vile is self-evident...Presidential candidates of both parties have a duty to denounce not only the smear against Obama but the bigotry that underlies it." Los Angeles Times 12/3/07

Obama Spokesman Robert Gibbs Issued A Statement Explaining That "Senator Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, Was Not Raised As A Muslim, And Is A Committed Christian." "Obama's campaign aides have emphasized his strong Christian beliefs and downplayed any Islamic connection. The Illinois senator was raised 'in a secular household in Indonesia by his stepfather and mother,’ his chief spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said in a statement in January after false reports began circulating that Obama had attended a radical madrasa, or Koranic school, as a child. 'To be clear, Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago,’ Gibbs' Jan. 24 statement said." Los Angeles Times 3/17/07

Obama "Beckoning" Felt At Trinity United Church Of Christ, "Submitted Myself To His Will, And Dedicated Myself To Discovering His Truth And Carrying Out His Works." Obama said, "So one Sunday, I put on one of the few clean jackets I had, and went over to Trinity United Church of Christ on 95th Street on the South Side of Chicago. And I heard Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright deliver a sermon called "The Audacity of Hope." And during the course of that sermon, he introduced me to someone named Jesus Christ. I learned that my sins could be redeemed. I learned that those things I was too weak to accomplish myself, He would accomplish with me if I placed my trust in Him. And in time, I came to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death, but rather as an active, palpable agent in the world and in my own life. It was because of these newfound understandings that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity one day and affirm my Christian faith. It came about as a choice, and not an epiphany. I didn't fall out in church, as folks sometimes do. The questions I had didn't magically disappear. The skeptical bent of my mind didn't suddenly vanish. But kneeling beneath that cross on the South Side, I felt I heard God's spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth and carrying out His works." Obama's Speech 6/23/07

Obama's Step-Father Saw Religion "As Not Particularly Useful," But Followed "A Brand of Islam" That Made Room for Animist and Hindu Faiths. Obama wrote in the Audacity of Hope, "When my mother remarried, it was to an Indonesian with an equally skeptical bent, a man who saw religion as not particularly useful in the practical business of making one's way in the world, and who had grown up in a country that easily blended its Islamic faith with remnants of Hinduism, Buddhism, and ancient animist traditions." Obama wrote in Dreams from My Father, "Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths." [Audacity of Hope, p 204; Dreams From My Father, p 37]

Obama Found Faith During Community Organizing Days. "It was at Trinity United Church of Christ here, in the late 1980s, that Senator Obama says he found religion. Raised in a secular household, with ancestral roots running from Islam to Baptist to atheist, Obama had grown up a skeptic. But Mr. Wright's blend of scripture and social action resonated with Obama, then a young community organizer in black neighborhoods ravaged by steel-mill closings."Christian Science Monitor, 7/16/07

CNN Reporter: I've Been to Madrassas in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Obama's Indonesian Elementary School Is Nothing Like That. On January 22, CNN Reporter John Vause reported, "I came here to Barack Obama's elementary school in Jakarta, looking for what some are calling an Islamic Madrassa, like the ones that teach hate and violence in Pakistan and Afghanistan.. I've been to those Madrassas in Pakistan and Wolf, this school is nothing like that." [CNN, Situation Room, 1/22/07]

Indonesian Embassy Says That Besuki School Attended by Barack Obama "Has Never Been an Islamic Madrassah Type of School." A letter from the Indonesian Embassy stated that "Sekolah Dasar Negeri Besuki in Menteng, Jakarta, Indonesia has always been a public school. It has never been an Islamic madrassa type of school." [Letter From Ambassador Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat to Senator Barack Obama, 1/25/07]

Time's Joe Klein: Attacks On Obama's Elementary School Are "Laughable" Given the Moderate Form of Islam Practiced in Indonesia, Especially in Those Days." Time's Joe Klein wrote, "The effort to slime Barack Obama has begun in the slimiest possible way." Describing attacks on Obama's elementary school, Klein wrote, "Now, this is nonsense of course. Obama's stepfather was not a Muslim extremist (among other things, he worked for Shell Oil). Obama attended public school for two years in Indonesia, in addition to the two years he spent in catholic schools--although, as Obama's staff points out, Indonesia is a Muslim country, so the public schools undoubtedly reflect the dominant relgious culture. The notion that the Obama's school was a Wahabi madrasa is laughable, given the moderate form of Islam practiced in Indonesia, especially in those days." Time Blog 1/22/07

VIDEO: CNN Report About Obama's School

Obama has been a member of Trinity United Church Of Christ for twenty years.

And that's where I'm going to pick up tomorrow. The Rev. Wright comments and debunking the idea Trinity United Church of Christ is a "racist organization".

Too much misniformation has been spread about Barack Obama, especially on this website. This is part one of a series about Barack Obama. Who is he? His stand on issues as well as the TRUTH about his religion. No chain emails, no moveon.org, no biased Right Wing or Left Wing media. I went straight to the source: Barack Obama. This is his official biography:

Meet Barack Early Years

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. His father, Barack Obama Sr., was born and raised in a small village in Kenya, where he grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British.

Barack's mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in small-town Kansas. Her father worked on oil rigs during the Depression, and then signed up for World War II after Pearl Harbor, where he marched across Europe in Patton's army. Her mother went to work on a bomber assembly line, and after the war, they studied on the G.I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved west to Hawaii.

It was there, at the University of Hawaii, where Barack's parents met. His mother was a student there, and his father had won a scholarship that allowed him to leave Kenya and pursue his dreams in America.

Barack's father eventually returned to Kenya, and Barack grew up with his mother in Hawaii, and for a few years in Indonesia. Later, he moved to New York, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983.

The College Years

Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment.

The group had some success, but Barack had come to realize that in order to truly improve the lives of people in that community and other communities, it would take not just a change at the local level, but a change in our laws and in our politics.

He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Soon after, he returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. Finally, his advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

Political Career

It has been the rich and varied experiences of Barack Obama's life - growing up in different places with people who had differing ideas - that have animated his political journey. Amid the partisanship and bickering of today's public debate, he still believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose - a politics that puts solving the challenges of everyday Americans ahead of partisan calculation and political gain.

In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

Whether it's the poverty exposed by Katrina, the genocide in Darfur, or the role of faith in our politics, Barack Obama continues to speak out on the issues that will define America in the 21st century. But above all his accomplishments and experiences, he is most proud and grateful for his family. His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters, Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on Chicago's South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.

Obese, hatemonger, warmonger, sexist, racist, Right Wing fascist Rush Limbaugh can add another title to his name; terrorist. This time the Republican party's main spokesman has gone too far. On his show he calls for Operation Chaos, which is basically a repeat of the violent riots in Chicago in 1968. Rush Limbaugh is an idiot, we already knew that, but this time he's crossed the line. Wishing a riot on a city so his party can win this election is absurd. Guess all the painkillers have gone to his head. What he's doing here is serious business. He's basically inciting a riot. If this talk keeps up(as of today, he still has articles about it) and a riot eventually breaks out, Limbaugh needs to be charged with inciting a riot. Rush has some disturbed and demented loyal followers, the "dittoheads", who live their life based on what Rush says. Rush talking of riots might as well be shouting "FIRE" in the crowded movie theater. One person with a shred of common sense called in, stating the fact that a riot would make America look bad(which it would) and Rush replies with "Screw the world". And it's a wonder why America is hated around the world. People like Limbaugh and his followers with their elitist egos.

The caller goes on to say that we need to bring everyone together, bring the political parties together. That is absolutely right, this country has become too partisan under GW Bush and we need to unite ourselves or things will only get worse. After that Rush reveals the true, violent colors of him and the far right. "You don't bring them together. We don't bring people together. That's not how this country works. We defeat our political adversaries so that they're in the minority."

And that's exactly what we have now. Over seven years of George Bush, Mr."I'm a Uniter, not a Divider" who has divided our country and ran it into the ground. That Rush strategy has not worked over the last seven and a half years, if we stay that course by electing John McCain, we will get four more years of failure. Remember these parting words, "United we stand, divided we fall". Original Item Below:

Screw the World! Riot in Denver!

April 23, 2008

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. This is Brian. Great to have

you here, sir.

CALLER: Yes, thank you. I was calling to comment on -- on -- on

first of all the gentleman that had called in earlier about your

ego. I am a Republican, and I'm a very conservative Republican.

However, I have to agree a little bit, Rush, that -- from a comment

that you made a little while ago, that -- I do believe your ego is

run away with you slightly.

RUSH: Well, first off, it was an e-mail. The guy didn't call

actually, I read an e-mail from him that my ego was out of control.

CALLER: Understood. Well, I believe in ego. I believe it's a

necessary for your occupation. I believe it's the engine that, you

know, that needs to be fed to make you good at what you do. I'm in

sales, and I believe that for myself. But your comment about

wanting your Operation Chaos to go all the way, like back to 1968

with riots in the streets, turned over burning cars, and I believe

you even said "literally."

RUSH: I did say literal riots. Al Sharpton has promised them!

CALLER: But you said, "That's what we want." That's not good for

anybody, and hopefully you really don't want that, and most of us

don't. I believe in your Operation Chaos. It showed great

ingenuity, and it was and is a fantastic idea. However, riots and

burning cars would make all Americans look bad. I believe our whole

premise --

RUSH: To who? To who would it make all Americans look bad?

CALLER: To the world.

RUSH: Oh, screw it! Screw the world! You know, I can't --

CALLER: I think there's that ego again. (laughing)

RUSH: It will make...? Do you really think we ought to govern

ourselves on the basis of what the world thinks of us?

CALLER: I believe that we need -- that our whole premise on working

hard for our side is to bring all Americans together, Democrats,

Republicans, and independents even, under one common goal that our

forefathers designed for us.

RUSH: That's what we're trying to do. You don't bring them

together. We don't bring people together. That's not how this

country works. We defeat our political adversaries so that they're

in the minority.

CALLER: I believe that, with -- with passion. But then also, I

mean our -- our whole premise was our Constitution for our safety,

you know, for our children's safety. And what would that show by

riots and burning cars no matter what side did that? I just think,

Rush, that that comment was a little out of line and maybe just not

properly thought through. Because I don't believe that way, and I

don't believe that most of us want that. Because people get hurt in

those situations -- and we believe that our side as Republicans, we

can do it better than the rest.

RUSH: As we would be demonstrating because there won't be riots at

our convention.

CALLER: Actually they would be demonstrating as Americans --

RUSH: We don't riot.

CALLER: -- that they're more out of control.

RUSH: We don't burn our cars. We don't burn down our houses. We

don't kill our children. We don't do half the things the American

left does. We need the American left -- and this is another great

thing about Operation Chaos; nothing to do with my ego. We need as

many ignorant Americans to wake up and find out exactly who the

modern-day Democrat Party is as dominated by the far left in this

country. We need that to be seen. Now, I am not inspiring or

inciting riots. I'm dreaming. (singing to the tune of White

Christmas) "I'm dreaming of riots in Denver." Remember 1968? And

which party did that? It was the radicals in that party, the anti-

war radicals, the same bunch of clowns that are running around

defining the Democrat Party today. What the world thinks of us?

There was an analogy just this week about somebody in the world. I'm

drawing a mental blank about this. But the fact is that the

Democrat Party has members in it that have already said, "There will

be riots," or something to that effect. Al Sharpton.

He was throwing down the gauntlet to the superdelegates: "You take

this election away from Barack Obama, and there's gonna be trouble.

There's going to be trouble in Denver." As for the rest of the

world and what they think of us, you know, there's nothing that

frustrates me more than to hear that. What part of the world do we

care about? What part of the world do we want approval from? Do we

want approval from the Europeans who have gone so damn wussy that

they cannot -- they could not if they had to -- mount a military

defense of themselves if they were attacked? Not even with NATO,

because it has been allowed to lapse. Is it those people that we

want the approval from? Do we want approval from people like Robert

Mugabe? Do we want approval from some of the warlords and terrorists

of Al-Qaeda? Who in the world do we want approval from? Do we want

approval from Hamas, like Jimmy Carter does? We have the approval

of our allies. We have the approval of the UK. We have the approval

of the Australians. Do we want the approval of the Chinese? Do we

want the approval of Kim Jong Il.

Who do we want to love us? What is this? I guarantee you: You live

your life this way as an individual, and you are forever going to be

confused and unhappy because you will be embarking on something

that's impossible, and that is, A, to make everybody like you; and,

B, respect you. This is something that has to be earned,

particularly on the side of respect -- and respect is earned with

strength. Nobody is going to respect you if they figure out you're

doing whatever you have to do to get their approval. They're going

to laugh at you! They're going to think you're a weak-kneed wuss.

So the hell with that! We do, hopefully, the right thing for the

sake of this country. We're the only ones in charge of our affairs.

We don't farm out our defense, unless we elect Democrats. We don't

farm out our protection against attack and national security, unless

we elect Democrats. We don't farm out our economy and tear it up in

the name of a hoax called global warming, unless we elect Democrats.

Riots in Denver at the Democrat convention would see to it we don't

elect Democrats -- and that's the best damn thing could happen for

this country as far as anything I can think: Don't elect Democrats!

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me tell you something, folks. If there are riots in

Denver, the world is gonna just think that we're just like them, and

we have something in common with them, and isn't that what we want

to say: "We're all the same"?

A vote for John McCain is a vote for the status quo. A vote for John McCain is a vote for four more years of incompitence and failure. John McBush: NOT MY PRESIDENT!!

Senior Moment? I think not! Iran and Al Qaeda-NOT a mistake. McBush wants to continue Georgie's quest to attack and invade Iran. Look at that grinning, snarling jackal ready to pounce on his prey.

"I promise that I will be in bed by the late hour of 7pm. Then I'll be up to answer the phone at 9, 11, 1, 3 and 5. I hope the White House has a phone in the bathroom!"

And finally, Hellary. Couldn't forget her. Be careful calling the White House at 3AM if she's president. She's up and she's angry. Bill ain't home yet! Keep her away from the antiques(that includes you, Johnny!!)

Finally, HOPE has a face!!!

#3 Tonight, the bronze to Coulter-geist. She‘s pretty much a shell of her former self, but occasionally she reminds us of her former spectacular tone dead bone-headiness, such as when she writes of Barack Obama‘s autobiography, quote, “the book revealed Obama to be a F-ing lunatic.

Obama is about to be our next president. You may want to take a peek. If

only people had read ‘Mein Kampf‘”

And we have to congratulate Senator Obama; compared to Hitler and Tiger Woods in the same week.

Ahhh, the smell of Republican desperation. Resorting to calling Obama "Hitler". Someone's shaking in their boots because they know they are going to lose.

#2 Runner up, Bill-O, he has now declared the issue of racism in this country now at a state that it‘s too dangerous to discuss in public. This would be after he to Sylvia‘s Restaurant in Harlem and then expressed his surprise that none of the clientele were shouting, M-Fer, I want more iced tea. So he said the way to solve racism is to stop calling people racists;

“and the African American community has to join with me and condemn it. That‘s what you guys have to do. You race hustlers, race baiters out there, you watch it. We‘ve got your number and the gloves are off.”

Get Billy, now he‘s the masked avenger. Add race hustlers to the list of the people imminently facing the wrath of O‘Reilly. “The Washington Post,” MSNBC, GE, the residents of San Francisco; he will be avenging himself against you just as soon as he can think of how, and it will be brutal.

By the way, I went to Sylvia‘s for lunch two weeks ago. Somebody mistook me for Chris Matthews. And I had the best macaroni and cheese of my life.

I can't believe anyone still takes this man seriously. He has lost his mind!! The "race hustlers" and "race baiters" are civil rights activists and leaders that speak up about racism. "We've got your number" Is that some kind of threat? Get real!

#1 But our winner, Democratic Illinois state Representative Monique Davis, who wigged out at a witness testifying against a million dollar state grant to preserve a historic Baptist church. The witness was an atheist activist and Representative Davis got angrier and angrier and louder and louder as she told him—this is on tape—quote, “I don‘t know what you have against god, but some of us don‘t have much against him. We look forward to him and his blessings. I‘m trying to understand the philosophy that you want to spread in the state of Illinois. This it the Land of Lincoln, where people believe in god. What you have to spew and spread is extremely dangerous. It‘s dangerous for our children even to know that your philosophy exists. Get out of that seat. You have no right to be here. We believe in something. You believe in destroying. You believe in destroying what this state was built upon.”

In the Illinois State Assembly this happens. A declaration that atheism is somehow dangerous? Obviously, Assembly Woman Davis owes the witness and everybody in this country who believes in freedom of religion an apology. And if she can‘t figure that out, she should resign and take her prejudice with her. She also needs to improve her own education. That phrase, this is the Land of Lincoln, where people believe in god; Miss Davis said that in Springfield, where, when Lincoln first ran for Congress in 1846, the future great president was accused by his opponent of being an atheist.

You not only spat on the fundamental American freedom to embrace religion, a religion or no religion, Assemblywoman Davis, but you also made a damn fool of yourself in the process. State Representative Monique Davis, Democrat of Illinois, today‘s worst person in the world.

Yes, I'm criticizing a Democrat. I would expect this kind of behavior out of a Reoublican: Wasting government on a church as well as attacking an Atheist and the freedom of religion. Shame on you, Assemblywoman Davis. Atheism dangerous? How is that belief system any more dangerous or worse than any other religion? How about some of these religions that preach complete lies. Moronic beliefs like the Earth is 6000 years old or was "magically created" when we have scientific evidence proving otherwise. How is Atheism any more dangerous than these religions that preach polygamy and sexual relations with underage girls? Alot of bad s*** has been done in the name of religion, Allah, God. Bombings of abortion clinics, bombings and killings of others who are"infidels" because "my god is better than your god". But the fundamental issue of this story is the separation of church and state that has been ever shrinking in the past few years. Nonsense like the "Faith Based Initiatives" that funnel government money into religious organizations. It is absolutely appalling that the government would even consider a grant for a crumbling church in the time when bridges and other parts of the infrastructure are crumbling, the schools are in crisis and the country is headed towards recession. It is absolutely appalling that a politician would criticize and attack a person's religious opinions in a state assembly.
