Perks Entertainment!

With gas prices rising along with groceries its only a matter of time people will have to make a choice on each paycheck what they will need to purchase. You may have to choose from gas or prescriptions, groceries...  How do you plan to overcome this inflation we are going through right now.

I ask you this because I feel we will adjust to the cost in time and prices will not go down.

I understand that. Getting tough. But as long as we can afford it we will be doing something's here and there.Thank God there is only two of us now. Son lost his job so that is gonna make it tough on his end. Thank goodness he has no rent.just electric, food and insurance. Plus gas but he won't be runnin' as much either.

I will look at what is a luxury and what is a necessity. What lifestyles can I change. Cable TV and Internet, getting a good book from the public library.
Entertainment that costs money can be boardgames and cards with family/friends.
Vacation plans can be seeing St. Louis.
Hamburger instead of steak.
Healthclub membership can be take a walk in the neighborhoold.
Starbucks can be have a cup of coffee with a neighbor.
Consolidtate trips to the store. Watch the store ads. Take an elderly neighbor with you to the store so they can save on gas.

Anything I do to make cuts will never hurt me. Right now it is just a change of lifestyle for better alternatives I probably should have been doing in the past.

Financially I'm not kneedeep in debt anyway so that REALLY helps. A lot of people are so far in debt to start with the gas prices are like the final nail in the coffin.

Personally my changes were only minor.

I stopped buying junk food. Like soda, ice cream, and other un-needed sweet stuff. NO MORE FAST FOOD!! No more movie rentals. I have cable so those movies will show up eventually. I wash my own car now.

I use coupons for hair cuts, oil changes and groceries. I buy hamburger and chicken (which is the only meat I really eat anyway) ONLY when on sale. Then freeze it. I buy stuff on sale and just plan my meals around what I have already.

Like many Americans I have bought a lot of stuff that seemed so darn important at the time but in truth it was really a waste of money. As if a TV, DVD and game system in every room was what I need to be happy.
Guess I was just spoiled.

We use coupons for most things and are discussing dropping cable totally. That will save us around $100 per month and we'll just use the antenna plus our little dtv box we just got. We will not water the lawn this year, stopped getting the newspapers, and dropped our landline telephone. I think we save about $200 per month now - this makes up for increasing fuel and grocery bills.

asmerelda sometimes your doctor can give you free samples of your meds they are free to him- also contact the pharmaceutical company-some offer a reduced or free meds to people going thru a rough peroid . were trying to cut back on things but with a teeange male that eats anything thats not moving its hard ;)

I plan on voting out every incumbent I can. And I take comfort in knowing that I didn't elect those two oil men to the White House.

On a practical, daily basis... I work close to home. I stay in for lunch, saving money on gas and meals. I consolidate trips when possible.

When I do eat out, I've noticed that the restaurants aren't as busy as they used to be. And the prices just keep going up and up. How long until they start closing up like crazy?

How many people and businesses have to go bankrupt before the government will DO something? That $600 "stimulus" check is a joke.

Don't you feel sorry for all those people who are lossing their jobs because we have to cut back. The cable guys, the restaurant servers, the movie theater people. the sales people.

asmerelda look at the manufacture of the meds you need - you should be able to find them on line-email them or hard copy a letter to them- also check your doc for both the free samples and contact info - we received free meds when my hub was unemployed - I know it can be done . Keep trying and good luck.

cut back on entertaiment, cut back on driving as much as possible, use coupons more, and if you cant make a payment on something just to bad for the people you owe the money 2. i mean you do all you can. dont take life and bills to seriously we all end up dead in the end anyway.

Tonight I wanted to so bad say I DON'T WANT TO COOK. I found a stash of money I had forgotten and was so tempted.

I think I might start adding up all the temptations I had and fought back not to do. I could be saving myself a good hunk of money.

When times get better I might just treat myself to a White Castle or two. Or maybe 2 Jack in Box Tacos if I decide to really splurge.
