Thank you FW for working hard this year on animal cruelty ordinances.  They've made owners more liable and more financially responsible for the health and well-being of their dogs (tether ordinance) and the neighbors (dangerous dog ordinance).  It breaks my heart driving to work  and seeing some of the poorer houses with their dogs all tied up to trees in this cold.  If you can't create a warm and loving environment, (preferably indoors) for your pet, then you have no business having one.

Now...if someone would please convince FW to get off their blessed assurance (John Hagee phrase, not mine) and put through the feral cat ordinance so caregivers/supporters of trap-neuter-return for feral population control can operate legally, it would be appreciated.  We've waited 2 years for the smoking ordinance and the dog ordinances to go through.   They're done...now it 's time to get our cat population under control through humane measures and the public educated regarding responsible pet ownership.  We wrote a pretty good ordinance 2 summers ago and it hasn't left the legal department yet.  The City Council needs to know that this simple solution to a big problem works, but it needs legal backing to keep the cat haters and the ignorant off our backs.

If you've never heard of T-N-R, but would like to learn more go to www.alleycat.org for more info.

People LOVE the opportunity to rant and rave about stuff that peeves them and it's great that places like Fox4 give us the chance to do just that.  But sometimes people are mean just to be mean or when it's really no business of theirs whatsoever.

Case in point:  Last night on Viewer's Voice, this horrible woman from McKinney had written in totally bashing Heather's clothes.  Well... Miss "What Not To Wear", I hope you enjoyed looking like a complete idiot on regional TV when Steve very proudly told you to shut up (in so many words) because Heather is pregnant again and wearing cute, fashionable preggie clothes!  Especially at 4 months, it's hard to figure out what to wear because your regular clothes are getting too tight, but you may not be quite ready for the balloon wear yet.  Thank you, Steve for defending your coworker!  You're an awesome guy.

I was glad this topic came up though because I hadn't heard yet that Heather was having another little one.  Congratulations!

So as a collective body, can we stop being so mean, critical, judgmental and just plain hateful?  Especially if one doesn't have all of the necessary information.  And who cares what she's wearing?  She's behind a desk!  I had to comment on Todd's white last week because he was showing head to knees and blinding me for life!

Well, there's always something about someone in this race.  Originally I was a Thompson supporter and I still would like to see him in there, but I don't think he can make it after his less than enthusiastic start.  I turned my attention to some of the others who might have a better chance and found myself liking Huckabee.  Until I was listening to the radio yesterday and it was either Wells or Hannity who had Kinky on and he was talking about Huckabee's kid killing a dog while he was in the Scouts.  Well that puts a monkey wrench in the works for me as an animal activist, but resolved that I would do research before passing judgment.  So I looked at Snopes and read that they really don't know the "rest of the story" on this one.

So...what should a voter think about this?  Am I a hypocrite for wanting to support him for his views and the way they seem to agree with mine?  Is he not as squeaky clean as we would like?  Did he abuse his power as governor to get his kid out of an animal cruelty scandal?  If I continue to support him, how do I reconcile my very active animal rescue life with my political responsibilities and my deep desire to see this country get out of the moral, economical, political, foreign policy crapper it finds itself in?  Is this behavior (the "cover-up") indicative of something deeper that we don't know about this man or the way he teaches his children?  Or is the kid a typical PK (Preacher's Kid) who are notoriously nuts, especially Baptist ones (I'm Baptist, I can say that).

Is this old news that I missed about Huckabee last year?  I admit I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to him until one of the debates last month.

I just heard that this was a possibility...

BoA is buying Countrywide which is fine...welcome to America.  What is ridiculous is the severance package the CEO will receive if he gets the boot which is probably going to happen.  Excuse me...when did it become a GOOD thing to get fired?  What a total crock of crap!  Sure it built up into the largest mortgage company in the country, but then it went to hell in a handbasket...thousands laid off, thousands out of their homes due to bad loans, company has to be sold just to bail it out and this is worth over a million dollars?  And since our loan is with them, I'm paying for this idiocy?  Great!!!

I don't know where this goes...move it if it's in the wrong place.

I've resisted yet ANOTHER device attached to my television that I have to figure out and have a remote for, but I've had just about enough of off-color, taboo topic commercials.  Last night, for this one commercial we saw, they might as well have said, "This pill gives you a bigger %#!* for hours of whoop it up in the bedroom pleasure!"  I turned to my husband and said, "There's no way I'm explaining that to him!" talking about our small son when he gets big enough to understand the words if not the meaning.

How do these companies get away with discussing this stuff on TV?  Where are the censors?  I don't want to hear my TV talk about female problems or ED problems or herpes while my grandparents are over for dinner!  I know it's money and welcome to Capitalism, but Jiminy Christmas!  Can we find some common decency?  They're blowing their bottom line with these piddly inflammatory accounts because I will never watch another commercial if I break down and get the TiVO.  And I wonder how many other parents or others who are just plain offended have already made that decision?  It's a shame because there are some commercials out there that I really like, but I will not have my son asking me about increasing the size of something "down there" with a pill.

Todd, I am so sorry about that get up you were in today.  You said they asked you to wear white...did they provide the outfit or do you usually mix those pieces in a more visually pleasing manner?  You went beyond "White Boy" this morning.  Everybody else got to wear blue...stand up for your rights!  Don't let them push you into looking like you got into Grandpa Joe's closet with a blindfold on.

Serious animal lover and rescuer. If we don't find them, they find us! I come from a long line of law enforcement/military plus 5th generation Texan which translates into a strong sense of right and wrong and taking responsibility for personal actions and choices. Even in the academic environment that employs me, I'm Conservative in thinking. But I'm not afraid to hug a tree when it's called for, mostly concerning animal and child abuse and the occasional environmental issue that involves a healthy dose of common sense. A new mommy of a 6 month old boy who is the joy of our existence. We have strong Christian beliefs, but we're not about hypocritical religion. I've got Jesus, not religion. I watch Good Day every day and love everyone on the show.
