I guess I'm as guity as the next person when it comes to watching my kids play sports and getting emotionally charged during the game.  What I don't understand is when people cross the line.

I won't name schools, but my daughter plays volleyball for a local school team.  I'll tell you right now, every time she goes up to smash a ball, my heart starts beating and I tend to stand up and get all excited.

We hosted a tournament a few weeks ago and while playing against another team, one of the line judges, a 14 yr old mind you, made a really bad call.  She called it out when it was clearly in.  (Keep in mind that these poor line judges get yelled at and heckled for their calls all the time).  The ref overturned her call (as he should have) but what got me is one of the parents on the other team (who was sitting very close to her) called her a bit%$.  WTH was this idiot thinking.  One of the other parents from our team heard what he said and began having a stern conversation with him....like, hey, don't call these girls names like that.  The idiot just kept on running his mouth and running his mouth and I finally had enough and told him to shut up and grow up.   Not to mention the 75 yr old man that acted like he was actually going to head towards that girl when she made the call.  What the heck did he think he was going to do??????

I try very hard as a parent to behave while I'm at these games but when parents act like idiots like that, I find it hard to keep my mouth shut.  Is it just the emotions of the games that make people (and yes, I'll include myself in that group....I can admit it) get so charged that they react and say things that they shouldn't?  But the name calling....come on people.  That is crossing the line.

My job as a parent is to enjoy the game, support my daughter and the love she has of this game and support the team she plays for.  Let's all remember that when we are at the next basketball, football, volleyball, baseball game....doesn't matter which sport.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Have you been at a game where something crazy like that happened???

Not that I'm a fan of the baggy pants that all the kids are wearing, but what lines are being crossed when these kids could face fines and possible jail time?

Same with airlines kicking off passengers for wearing too low of a top or too short of a skirt.  Sounds like only women could ever face that being an issue....what could a guy wear on a plane that could potentially have him kicked off?  Just wondering....

Who are these people that are the "clothes" police?  What are their credentials?  What about the lady in the grocery store that has on short shorts and a low cut top?  Are they going to tell her she can't shop there too?   Thoughts and comments.......

I've spent several months reading over the day to day blogs that are on this website and finally decided to join up today.  Some I've agreed with, some I haven't, some have made me laugh.  And some have made me go hmmm......

I do have my opinions and will share them as I feel like everyone has a right to their opinion.  We are all different for a reason.  I tell it like it is and always have so you get what you get with me.   I always try to look at all sides of the issue.  Doesn't mean we'll agree.....we can agree to disagree.  I'm good with that.  I'm sure we will cross paths soon.  Have a great, rainy, it took me almost two hours to get to work today (grrrr) Monday.

Just a single mom with two teenagers (or you can call me ATM or cabbie) trying to raise a couple of decent kids. Boy, that is a day to day struggle with all the scary things out there and parents who want to be friends and not parents. But it is a job I take seriously and work hard everyday to raise them to be respectable people. I work in the marketing field and enjoy what I do. My kids are very active in theatre and sports so I'm quite busy attending all "their stuff". But, active kids = staying out of trouble so I'll keep it up.
