If you've been in Florida for a while, you've undoubtedly been through some hurricanes.

A few years ago we had a very active hurricane season.  Lately it's been pretty calm.

What do you think?

Do you follow the cycles of the weather?

Is this year going to be calm or should we be watching out for the big one to hit soon?

Eventually, somewhere in FL will get an Andrew/Katrina type hurricane. I remember when I was really little in Miami, nobody paid attention to hurricanes. I didn't watch the news bc I think I was about 7. But anyway, one day over the summer, my mom and dad were boarding up the house and buying all sorts of supplies. Hurricane David was on its way. Because I was so little,i don't really remember what exactly happened but it curved or something and never went to Miami. Until Andrew hit, nobody paid attention to "hurricane hype". People got very complacent and were caught off guard. Basically, every year we prepare with the stuff we need. I watch the news so I see what's out there. I don't go by cycles or predictions.

Wait a sec, let me go find a pair of dice, so I can "roll 'em" and see. THAT'S about as good as the odds are of accurately determining when and where the next butt- kicking hurricane will land! Oh, no doubt, we're overdue, so chances are sooner or later, one will knock the snot out of us, again!

Wise man. Still, we seem to be in a calm cycle don't we? I wonder what the Fox meteorologists know about cycles. Surely they have lots of historical data.

Yea, the next named one being a religious one "Gabriel", he's really gonna blow his horn now. This one will come in and be so windy it'll be off the scale with 500+mph winds and just the eye alone will cover the entire United States and at least half of Canada.

Can you bend over backwards and kiss you petootie goodbye?

That's what you get for naming storms after religious figures.

Sorry Norty, just COULD NOT resist the tempation with this one. ;)

Perhaps we should name them after candies. Maybe it will rain candy. We can sing good ship lollypop in the rain. But then there would be candy floods. Gummy bears would gum up the sewer system and our homes would flood. Gummy snakes would be wandering loose in the city. That won't do at all.
