Yellow cones, lane closures, construction work, traffic jams... driving can be a little crazy right now and it's only going to get worse. I don't think any of us really realize what it's going to be like when Highway 40 closes down completely. It's going to take a lot of patience to get through the next couple of years. And a little courtesy will go a long ways, too. I always try to acknowledge it when another driver lets me in line and I appreciate it when others acknowledge me. It's not that big of a deal, but when another driver shows you some courtesy... how about a little wave?

I agree with you....everyone should just pretend they are in Branson with the kindness and waive...and the traffic jam may feel the same...!

When polite people do polite geastures I always throw a hand up to say thank you. But like you said this is only going to get worse. I can already tell. I live at the airport and always us I70 for travels to the gym and my local shopping malls. They have now widen the lanes. I now see more 18 wheels a rolling down this streach of highway than before. When highway 40 shutdown this will effect all of us on every roadway! Happy Driving!!!!

A little wave or flipping the bird - welcome to St. Louis baby!

You can't wave if that driver doesn't deserve it. Sometimes having them read between the lines really spreads the love.

Fewer and fewer people wave...even here in the rural area....but look out there's one crazy horseshoer out there when he gets bored does the WAVE TEST! And when another young shoer working with me for the day...its worse... WE WAVE AT EVERYBODY!!!!! Mainly to see the suprised looks we get...but then on some days we have a lot of folks return that wave and they're smiling. But then us horseshoers see most of the world upside down most of the day while we're working. Have a Merry Christmas...and drive safe and please wave now and then....you'll feel good!!!

Ahhhhhhhh the gentle gesture of waving to passersby. I grew up in the country and remember Dad waving to everyone he'd encounter on the road. I always wave to people if they let me in or through the long line of cars. When down home I'll still get some old fashioned waves that appear for no reason at all, I always wave back!

i usually do wave at the construction workers. Heck, if they have the traffic stopped, and i am the first in line by the worker, i'll even start a little conversation til the traffic starts going.

I always wave when someone lets me in! I love it when I get that wave when I let someone else in. It makes me smile! :-)

Whatever happened to letting drivers in when merging onto the highway? There would be alot less accidents and jams if drivers would let other drivers over. 1 at a time. I try to let them over whenever I can. What is 1 car length gonna do? Your not going to get there any faster. People are just so rude and inconsiderate. Or they block an intersection. That irritates me, especially when I am the one needing to go. It would make driving alot easier and less stressful, if people would just be considerate. Oh yeah, and if you cant talk and drive at the same time GET OFF THE CELL PHONE!!!

I anchor the 5pm and 9pm news at Fox 2. This is the career I chose when my dreams of playing professional baseball faded into reality. Should I coach or go into the news business? I made the right choice. But I have played sports all my life and remain an avid sports fan. When I'm not working, I enjoy working out, riding my motorcycle, playing golf and doing a little fishing.
