I thought it was a joke when I heard about it. Let me preface with this
disclaimer: I have nothing against Christians, some of my best friends
are Christians, I was raised Christian. Christian Family Day at Busch
Stadium, isn't that a little exclusive? Would they sponsor a atheist,
pagan or anarchist day at the ballpark, much less a Muslim, Jewish or
Hindu Day. Why do people feel the need to promote their personal faith
commercially? I hold sacred the belief in separation of church and
stadium. Who will throw out the first pitch, the Pope, Warren Jeffs,
Rev. Jeremiah Wright? If player is caught stealing will they be flogged
or offered absolution? If a manager is thrown out will it be for
eternity or just sent to purgatory? Will the sign of the cross mean a
slider or a curve ball? Do we have a fish mascot?
So...
Take me out to The Ballgame
Take me out to the Church
Buy me a Rosary, and some Holy Water
I don't care if I become a Martyr
So it's root, root, root for Jesus
If we don't win it's a sin...............!

Recently I have become aware of a disturbing redneck sport involving dogs. From what I have learned these dogs are spray painted to identify them to there owners. These dogs are then driven far away and dropped off. The owners pool money and the first dog to find it's way home is the winner. These dogs are left to fend for themselves in the woods. These dogs return beat up and starving, if they return at all. Apparently the locals all know whats going on. When a spray painted dog was located a local replied, " that's Darell's #60". The owner threw the dog in the truck p***ed off that his dog did not make it back. I don't know what this so called sport is called. I would appreciate any information. I think the owners should be spray painted and dropped off in prison.

Traffic
One of the first things I noticed when I returned to St. Louis, was the absence of buses. I grew up riding buses here. Having lived in Chicago for over 10 years, public transportation was my choice of transportation. If you make m.t. available and reliable people will flock to it.
If you run buses 10-15 mins. apart during rush hour. If someone misses a bus another one will be there. Make hubs accessible to more options for connections, not just to metrolink but to other popular bus routes. You should be able to move a lot quicker through St. Louis. The amazing thing to me is, they haven't exploited their most effective marketing no-brainer, GAS PRICES. Who wouldn't give up a car if they couldn't get to work within 20 mins. The gear up costs would pay for themselves many times over. I don't expect everyone to take m.t., but its getting to expensive to drive for many. The city officials should be demanding this, gas prices aren't coming back down. There is no "bus riding" stigma in places where it works.
