Having a car literally die on you in the middle of nowhere around midnight can really give you a fit!  Well, that happened to me one night in May, when I worked an event for a radio station.  My trusty old first generation '78 Honda Accord overheated on me one night just outside of Chino Hills on the Corona Expressway, while I was heading home into Orange County.  My engine overheated, and then blew the head gasket, while I was trying to pull over to cool the car down.  A few days later, my mechanic told me that it was time to get a new car. RIP trusty old reliable Honda!

So I went on a search to get the best price possible on a new Honda, roughly the same size as the old Accord, which fit nicely in my garage space.  I looked at the Civics, but the car's body was a bit bloated and big, while the inside just didn't have enough leg room in the back seat.  Also, they didn't have a color that I really liked.  I had also noticed the new Honda Fit, and the size came very close to the first generation Honda Accord Hatchbacks.  This car had some pleasant surprises:  the back seat had more leg room than the Civic sedans; the car had at least as much interior room as the old Accord, and it came well equipped with a sticker price lower than the Civic.

However, I faced some big obstacles:  this car has become so popular, that the dealers would quickly sell the cars.   Also,  it was nearly impossible to find a Fit in the bottom "base" model in Vivid Blue Pearl with a 5 speed stick.  But sometimes, miracles happen!  I got an email from a friend that told me to forward it to 8 people other than myself and the one who sent it.  This email became my previous blog on this site instead, since more than 8 people would read it.  On the day I posted that blog.  I got a call from a dealer, saying that they had 1 car in their shipment equipped the way I wanted it!  Now that was heaven sent!

I'm having a Fit now!  But it's a fit of a great kind!  And this Fits my family well!
As for the picture, the car shown is of the higher priced package:  the "sport" package.  The blue is more vivid in person, just like an old Schwinn bicycle.

Any other Fit owners here?

If anyone is wondering what my previous blog is, see my blog titled "Facts about some deceased" written on Friday June 13, 2008. That was the day I got the call from the dealer!

Yes, Honda is a great car!

I also like our Toyota's...

Avalon & Tercel.

These days the old Tercel is best...

Good luck!

Hotmamajama,

You have some great Toyotas! Thanks for the comment!

Ibejim,

I did stay legal while tinting the back windows: the back windows are 20%, which is what SUVs, vans and trucks come with, when they have factory tint. I did not tint the front, which keeps the car legal. Also, I have the third brake light exposed, since it is required to be visible, and it was easier for the shop guys to go around it, rather than take it off while applying the tint, then putting it back on. Even if it were tinted, I noticed it was still bright enough to be legal. By the way, the picture is one that Honda uses, and in actuality, the blue is a bit darker than shown. I'll have to post some pictures of the actual car in my photo albums, when I get a chance. I'm looking at various options to add onto the Fit: foglights for sure!

My great friend. I have my old historical "Bush 12" white Lincoln Towncar seen every now and then in the central San Fernando valley or Calabasas when I go there or throughout Encino. I love the ride. They say a big Lincoln is velvet smooth and whisper quiet and that is what I love best. It used to be a part of my rolling office and now, it just waits patiently as I take a spin or two. We all have and always will have our loves. My other love is a Manta Mirage http://www.mantacars.org now there is a real "handbuilt" American car and it gets very good gas milage too...a real "Chick" magnet. See, Leelila and Gina chasing that red car...LOL!

Okay, so Liz Habib can chase my blue Fit, if Leelila and Gina are chasing your red "Chick Magnet". But maybe Leelila will change her mind and chase the Fit too (Hee Hee!).

Another favorite ride: a 1962 Rambler Classic (the seats fold flat into a bed!). A nice car for a drive in movie!

I'm a life long North Orange County California resident. I work behind the scenes in radio, and I understand the pressures that the folks at Fox 11 and My 13 news go through to do a live show professionally. I don't like it when politicians try to make our government bigger than it is now. I oppose many of the things the Democrats are doing, because in my thoughts, they are selling out the public to nothing but garbage. In other areas, I'm an Anaheim Angels fan. McCain/Palin 2008! Obama's in for a "caining"!
