Good Day All! I hope you enjoy the Hambletonian preview that Anne is doing from the Meadowlands Racetrack. Being a Kentucky girl, Anne loves horses and the racetrack and to get to be a part of the training and have her own lesson on riding a two cart jog is something she is totally loving. The event should be fun this Saturday. There's alot to do besides the horse racing, so there's something for everyone.
Coming up tomorrow...Anne is racing the Marathon in September and she caught up with Beth Ostrasky who is also a fellow road runner. Anne talked to her about her upcoming wedding to Howard Stern (radio not Anna Nicole), and about how dogs are sponsoring her run...Check it out to find out...
We've got alot of fun stuff coming up in the next few weeks so make sure to tune in and I definitely want to hear from all of you about where you think Anne should go next...
HEY GUYS, I'M BACK FROM TOKYO AND GETTING BACK TO ANNE ABOUT TOWN. THANKS TO LOLA STAAR'S DREAMLAND IN CONEY ISLAND, PEOPLE CAN TAKE A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE AND EXPERIENCE A FUN NIGHT ON WHEELS... IM DEFINITELY GOING TO THE OPENING THIS WEEKEND IN CONEY ISLAND! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
BASEBALL
IT may be America's favorite past time but the Japanese know how to hit a home run too. Sumo wrestling ranks second to the Japanese's love for baseball and it is evident everywhere you look. On the train ride from the airport to my hotel,
I witnessed masses of little league playing boys in their pinstriped pants and knee socks practicing their favorite pastime.
On the streets, in the parks, and playlands a moment won't pass where you encounter someone with the emblem of their team emblazoned on a cap, shirt, or keychain.
They even root for their favorite American teams, though (un)fortunately they tend to side more with the Reds than the Yanks...

ALCOHOLISM IN JAPAN?
Japan and alcoholism' and 'problems of alcoholism in tokyo' don't warrant any significant reports on my google search, but I keep noticing everywhere I go that there are men with beer cans passed out in random spots in Tokyo.
Even more disturbing is that these men vary in age and are all freshly dressed and don't look as if they have nothing better to do than drink their worries away.
Businessmen in JApan are known to go out late each weekday once they get off work and this is an accepted part of culture. One night as I left the hotel, I witnessed a group of sharply dressed business men in their black double breasted suits with white buttondowns passed out on subway steps all in one group (so mad I didn't have my camera with me!!)

I'd like to welcome you all to my blog. I decided to start one so viewers and web visitors alike could get a behind the scenes view on the daily trials and tribulations of putting together features remotes (I swear it's harder than you think).
For those of you who read the title of this blog and thought you were going to get a channel changer that resembled a cute blonde reporter, sorry to disappoint. A remote is what we "in the biz" refer to when we do segments that are outside of the studio. Its a remote location...very original word choice, don't you think? Funny how every industry has their own word jargon and nicknames for things, as if it would take too long or be too inclusive if we called things by their righful name.
Anyways, each day I comb the city, tri-state and world wide web looking for what's going on around town and place reporter Anne Craig right on the frontlines of the action...hence the name, "Anne About Town" (again, very original word choice). It takes a good amount of planning for Anne and I, as we have to be aware of things that are coming up even months in advance while also maintaining the format of the show on a given day. Plus, there's always multiple things going on each day and sometimes it's difficult to decide which we can cover.
This week, Anne is a "Jersey girl" and I happen to be in Tokyo (yes, in the land of the Rising Sun). I put together her segments the past few weeks and my colleague Pierre is over seeing them, thus acting as my better half (besides you, Anne!). We wanted to get Anne outside the comfort zone of the city and have her show everyone all the wonderful things NJ has to offer. It's a quick trip for anyone in the area, especially if you reside in Jersey, and there's so much to do and such beautiful natural landscape that people should expose themselves to.
I hope you are enjoying watching and I look forward to blogging more for you...
Until then, Good Day New York! Ohayo gozaimasu New York!
