The other day I went to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button only knowing the length, close to three hours, and the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that it’s based on. With that knowledge my expectations were not that high, how does one turn a short story into a movie that you could read said story 10 times over while watching, I had a feeling that it was going to be very drawn out and as a result very boring.
Well, I was dead wrong. I will admit, the first 10 minutes is a little slow and doesn’t involve Benjamin at all but is a very interesting story none the less. After that first bit, about a blind man who builds a clock that runs backward, I was hooked. It of course starts with the birth of a very peculiar baby, his mother dies giving birth to him and his father, played by the ever improving Jason Flemyng, seeing what looks like a monster of a baby leaves him on the steps of a nursing home, he is found by a young black woman who works there by the name of Queenie, played by Taraji P. Henson, who decides to take care of a baby that shows physical symptoms similar to those of a man in his 80’s and is close to death. Much to everybody’s surprise the boy lives and begins to grow healthier every year. The movie follows Benjamin’s life as he meets a beautiful girl Daisy, works on a tug boat, helps in WWII on said tug boat, goes home after the war, reconnects with Daisy, played by Cate Blanchett, gets married and has a child. It is a beautiful story well worth watching.
Most of the Story takes place in the beautiful city of New Orleans. It starts 1918 on the day World War One ends, then moves beautifully through the decades. The settings and places are shot beautifully and I loved that the scenes that take place in the first couple decades are shot and edited to look as though it was on old film, very subtly though, you really need to be paying attention to catch it. The visual effects, which there were many of, were beautiful and again so subtle sometimes that you almost couldn’t tell. For instance there is a 10 year old boy, who looks like he’s 75, but also shows the same features as Brad Pitt, this was not done through makeup alone. These effects work so well though that they grip you and truly pull you into the story.
This movie also had some of the finest acting in a movie I have ever seen. Brad Pitt as the title character of Benjamin Button was simply amazing. This is one of the roles he will forever be known for. So beautifully pulling off the physical movements of an elderly man who also has the mentality of a man in his prime. Cate Blanchett was fantastic as the beautiful Daisy. The performance, outside of Brad Pitt’s, that blew me away was Taraji P. Henson as Benjamin’s adoptive mother Queenie. She was superb as the very kind, caring and sweet young woman who works at a nursing home and raises Benjamin. Jason Flemyng was excellent as Thomas Button, Benjamin’s real father. Mahershalalhashbaz Ali was great as the traveling bushman Tizzy. Tilda Swinton was great as Elizabeth Abbott, a woman Benjamin meets and falls in love with while in Russia. Last, but certainly not least, Jarred Harris was fantastic as the out spoken tugboat captain, Captain Mike, who helps Benjamin come of age, so to speak.
When you combine the excellent directing by David Fincher, an amazing story and script, superb acting from a great cast and beautiful visual effects you get the best movie to come out in years and a movie that, in my opinion, will be listed as one of the great classics of all time on the level with Gone With The Wind and Casablanca. This movie is a must see for all movie fans and non movie fans alike

Well everybody, the year is coming to an end so I thought I’d give my year end wrap up of the silver screen
Best Comedy:
Tropic Thunder
There was some tough competition this year with movies like Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Pineapple Express, Role Models, Get Smart, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan and many others but I feel Tropic Thunder topped them all. This movie was a blast. Absolutely hilarious, I almost fell out of my chair a couple times I was laughing so hard and at least once I seriously could not breathe. One of Ben Stiller’s better performances and movies, Jack Black was funny but Robert Downey Jr. was easily the funniest man in the movie. This movie is priceless and filled with so many great lines.
Best Action Movie
Doomsday
This movie was just plain fun to watch. Rhona Mitra was really good as was Bob Hoskins and Malcolm McDowell. I really enjoyed that in the fenced in area half the people went Mad Max wasteland psycho and the other half went 16th century kingdom, very entertaining.
Best Comic Book Movie
Iron Man
I still am so thankful for Brian Singer to have made Comic Book movies popular and give them some credit. This year was the biggest year yet for Comic book movies. We had Hellboy II, Wanted, The Incredible Hulk and of course the two biggest and almost rivals, Iron Man and The Dark Knight. I know, Dark Knight was huge and made billions and everybody has been raving about it. I loved it too but I think once you get over the hype and drama of Heath Ledger’s death, the movie was good but almost too serious and I’m not gonna lie, the way Christian Bale talked as batman really got on my nerves after a while. Iron Man I thought was so perfect. Robert Downey Jr. blew me away as Tony Stark, portraying that role so perfectly I actually believe he was born for that role. Terrance Howard did a great job as James Rhodes, I am very disappointed he has been forced out of the sequels. Gwyneth Paltrow was a perfect Pepper Potts. And of course, Jon Favreau did an amazing job directing this movie, I had my doubts about this character on the big screen but he really pulled it off. This movie was just plain fun to watch and I keep watching it and love it every time. It’s funny, it’s exciting and the performances were all top notch.
Best Drama
The Bank Job
This movie was fantastic. It’s based on an amazing true story and was done very well. To all the people who say that Jason Statham can’t really act, I highly recommend seeing this movie, he was absolutely fantastic in it, I would almost say an Oscar worthy performance. The story was great, all the actors were amazing and it was just overall a great movie. I will admit that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button looks superb and will report on that when it comes out.
Best Family Movie
WALL-E
I love Pixar so I was pretty excited about this movie. It’s a little unconventional and interesting in that there’s virtually no dialogue for the first 30 or 40 minutes, therefore this movie is very visual and relies mostly on “body” language. This movie was highly entertaining and very funny and even though there is an environmental message in it, this movie, unlike many others including happy feet, doesn’t beat you to death with that message leaving the movie very enjoyable.
Best Documentary
Religulous
Granted I only saw one documentary this year but it was fantastic. Bill Maher was hilarious as usual and had many great points to present. This documentary was very simple, present facts and ask questions about people’s religion that they should know and see them try to explain it, excellent. I recommend everybody see it.
Best Horror Movie
Cloverfield
I thought this movie was really fun to watch. J.J. Abrams did a fantastic job. The creature was terrifying and the action was great. I liked the idea of shooting it on a handheld camera and I loved that as an audience member, we had no idea what was going on, just like the people “filming” it. I feel this made the experience that much more interesting.
Best Sequel
Step Up 2 The Streets, yeah this movie was absolutely amazing I can’t even, oh my god I just couldn’t finish that sentence. No, the real best sequel is:
The Dark Knight This movie was really good and the performances were great and the story was even better. I’m not going to talk about this one anymore because everybody knows what it is.
Biggest Surprise
Speed Racer Hated by critics and audiences alike, I found this movie very enjoyable. My favorite review I read about this movie the writer described the movie as “two and a half hours of fuchsia vomit” I respectfully disagree. I think the reason most people didn’t like it is because they were expecting some kind of serious movie when in fact it’s a movie based on a Japanese animation cartoon from the 80’s that was ridiculous and over the top and so was the movie. To me, this movie is just fun to watch and the effects were awesome.
Biggest Letdown Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull I love the Indiana Jones movies, they are some of my favorite movies, but I really wish that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg had left this series and character alone. One of my biggest problems was Shia LeBeouf’s character, he was annoying, the whole swinging through the trees with the monkeys scene just pissed me off, and the fact that they are trying to “pass the fedora” I flat out hated. They should have left his character in the greaser fight and never said he was Indy’s son. I didn’t care for the fact that there were actual aliens in it. I was waiting for this movie because I love the character but I left the theater wishing they hadn’t made it.
Best Movie Nobody Saw In Bruges There were many movie that came out this year that I rushed out to see but that apparently nobody else had even heard of, much less actually saw, and I recommend them all; Choke, RocknRolla, Run Fatboy Run, CJ7 and several others. My favorite was In Bruges about two hit men hiding in Bruges, hence the title. The cast was excellent, Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes. This movie was very funny with a great story and shocking and hilarious ending.
Best performance Heath Ledger I still can’t tell whether the fact that he’s dead is what helps this performance or not, but his performance as the Joker was absolutely amazing. Every time I watched it, he sent chills down my spine. From the way he talked to the way he walked and that terrifying laugh. The interrogation scene alone should earn him an Oscar in my opinion. Granted, I was against that at first because I thought everyone was saying it just because he died, but the more I think about that scene the more I think he truly deserves it over every other performance I’ve seen this year. Heath Ledger was a truly great actor with such amazing potential and he will be missed.
Best Scene Stealer Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder
If for nothing else, see Tropic Thunder for Tom Cruise’s performance as Les Grossman. I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard at a movie as I did with that character. The makeup and costume was perfect and priceless but the icing on the cake that made it all so great, Tom Cruise’s awesome hip hop dance moves.
Best Movie of the Year Iron Man I already explained why I love this movie. Dying to see the sequels and The Avengers movie.
Anticipation of 2009 There are some great movies I’m looking forward to next year here’s a list of the ones I’m looking forward to the most.
1. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (I just wish it had dinobots)
2. Watchmen (read the graphic novel, top notch)
3. Terminator Salvation (finally, the movie they’ve hinted at for 20 years)
4. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (the delay has driven me nuts)
5. Inkheart (what can I say, I like Brendan Frasier)
6. Star Trek (can’t believe I’m saying that, I never liked Star Trek)
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (should be awesome, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool)
8. Angels & Demons (DaVinci code was fantastic)
9. Race to Witch Mountain (I like Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson too)
10. Fanboys (only a full two years after it was supposed to be released)
11. Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian (first one was good)
12. Pink Panther 2 (Steve Martin and John Cleese back together, be still my heart)
13. The Box (Richard Kelly’s movies are insane)
14. Up (I’m a sucker for Pixar movies)
15. Monsters Vs Aliens (OH NO, HERE COMES… Susan!)
16. 2012 (I also love apocalypse movies)
17. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra (yet another 80’s cartoon gone serious movie)
18. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (No Kate Beckingsale but Rhona Mitra!)
19. Crank: High Voltage (just see the first, should be awesomely hilarious)
20. Sherlock Holmes (the good one with Robert Downey Jr. Directed by Guy Ritchie)

What the hell is our government doing? seriously, what the hell? STOP BAILING OUT FAILING COMPANIES!!! That's what capitalism is, you don't run your company right YOU FAIL! What happened to the free market?! What happend to capitalism? what happened to the basic things this country and economy were built on? The market plunged 7 years ago and the government left it alone, AS IT SHOULD, and guess what, THE MARKET FIXKED IT'S SELF! The government is going to bail out citigroup now, WHY? LET THEM FAIL, they made mistakes, that's there problems. The government is still considering bailing out "the big 3", WHY? let them do what the airlines did, file for bankruptcy then fix their own problems internaly! The main thing "the big 3" need to do is get rid of unions! cut their costs a little, stop paying people $48 and hour to snap on a dashboard! If they get rid of unions and try to cut some costs, they can start competeing with the foreign car companies that are taking all their sales. Right now the foreign car companies make a better product for less! COME ON! I am getting really sick of the government handing tons of money to people who already have TONS OF MONEY BUT HAVE MADE SOME BAD DECISIONS WITH THAT MONEY! STOP BAILING OUT FAILING COMPAINIES!!! This makes no sense, I always learned that if you make mad decisions and fail, YOU FAIL, but now this stuff is like, if you make bad decisions and fail people will give you more money to fund your bad decisions! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! I can't stand it anymore, I'm watching my country I love so much get tossed down the drain! I can't believe I am actually going to live through the fall of the greatest country EVER!

At the rally yesterday many people were talking about something I have been saying for years. We need to tax the churches. I don't get why they are all tax exempt it makes absolutly no sense. That's what Obama needs to do, not raise our taxes but start taxing ALL churches, temples etc. That would get the government so much more money to spend on things we need and help the economy. Everytime I drive by a church I can't help but think to myself "wow, just look at all that perfectly taxable land gone to waste". Like I said, tax them, it'll solve many problems. Plus, these are the organizations promoting hate, and they get to do it tax free, nope, they don't want equality for gays then I demand they GET equality in taxes. Tax the hell out of them, like I said, it will help a lot if we tax them. so for the last time TAX THE CHURHES!
I would like to end with a great quote from Bill Maher
"New rule: If churches don't have to pay taxes, they also can't call the fire department when they catch fire. Sorry reverend, that's one of those services that goes along with paying in. I'll use the fire department I pay for. You can pray for rain." Bill Maher

I would like to take a moment and talk about the issue in California. I can’t believe I have to keep talking about this but for some reason we are a country of bigots. People in California voted in Prop 8 that bans gay marriage. This is a bunch of [...]. Yes, I am glad that all the people in California who are for Prop 8 are protesting. Yes, I also think Ellen is stupid for saying she is no longer going to pay taxes and is encouraging other people to do the same, this is just going to end up with all those people getting into serious trouble. I am glad that there are still some people left in this country willing to fight for what’s right. Again the fact I have to say all this sickens me to no end. One thing that upsets me is the fact that gay marriage is even an issue, cause it’s a non [...] issue. It shouldn’t even need to be discussed it should just be. Basically here is what has brought this on. Racism used to be huge and socially acceptable, with stuff Jim Crow laws and the KKK but now that racism has been fading over the years and now that there is a black man running for, and now elected to, the highest office in the country, racism is out. So what do we do now that we can’t beat up on blacks. Well there’s gay people. So now all those old racists and bigots are now focusing their attention to gay people. And what disgusts me even more is that 70% of black people who went to the polls are against gay marriage. So basically they feel left out that they never got to beat up and oppress a people that now they all feel they deserve the right to oppress gay people. Yeah, what a [...] country we live in. This issue is not an issue in pretty much every other country. The only countries that this is a real problem in is Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel and America…. That’s a good crowd to run with. You know why these are the only country this is an issue in, because we are all still so hung up on a piece of literature that the “NEW” version of was written 2000 [...] years ago. A piece of work that says slavery is a great thing, that you should BURN somebody if they were clothes made from two different threads, that says every football player should be stoned to death for touching the skin of a dead pig, WHAT THE [...]! One thing the pisses me off to no extent is the people I see saying stuff like “why should people give these people special attention and give them special privileges”. Well you people need help. You might as well say, “Why should we treat black people like people, I like it when they were only considered 3/5th of a person.”. and oh yeah, they are asking for so much special treatment and privileges, they want to get married LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE, yeah that’s such a special privilege, oh, and how day try to BE TREATED LIKE PEOPLE! Yeah damn them and there “special treatment”…. I’m gonna stop for now cause I am pissed and need time to calm down.

So the 2008 election is over and I am proud to say that we are living through a huge moment in history. The first black president! I am so glad to be alive and living in America now. This moment is going to be in the history books for our kids and grandkids to read about and we get to say we were there and apart of it all. Nothing like this has happened in our lifetime. I mean there was the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 but most of us were just toddlers when that happened and don't remember it happening. Stuff like Martin Luther King and the million man march, Assassination of JFK, The civil righs movement, WWI and WWII. Unfortunatly most historical moments are tragic but not this one. I am intruiged by the next 4 years because I believe that Obama can fix our reputation with the rest of the world and maybe even unify this country in ways never imagined. Anyway enough about that and on to some interesting things that happend in this election.
1) I've already mentioned it but Missouri an ammendment was passed making english the primary language of that state, I like that and hope that trend spreads accross the rest of the states.
2) in our state the "definition of a person" ammendment was shot down.Thank FSM because that was some seriously dangerous stuff. It was worded so poorly that it very well could have put a ban on birth control as well as abortions.
3) in South Dakota an ammendment attempting to ban abortion was shot down as well. this one is differnent and more significant then ours because it was brought up in hopes of passing at which point it would have been brought directly to the Supreme Court in an attempt to turn over the Roe Vs Wade ruling. I'm confident enough to say that Roe Vs Wade will not be turned over (even if someone like McCain were to have been elected), I don't think the court would risk the outcry of doing that.
4) the news keeps mentioning that Michigan legalized medical marijuana, the 11th state to do so, but whatever.
5) On a down note California passed Prop 8. For those who don't know, because the news seems to be ignoring it, Prop 8 was a measure put forth to ban gay marriage in the state of California. Like I said unfortunatly prop 8 passed. So in other words while the state was wiling to elect a black man to the presidency they aren't wiling to allow gay people to marry any more. Well, I guess Homophobic is the new Racist. Thankfully many people and public officials have filed lawsuits and are challenging prop 8 trying to get it over turned, I hope it works.
So now onto what I hope will happen now that Barack Obama has been elected to be the president. I think it is finally time to get rid of all forms of affirmative action. It is out dated and I convider it reverse racism. Either way, now that a black man has been elected to he highest most powerful office in the country if not the world then there is offically no more need what so ever for affirmative action. that's it, that as good and as equal as it gets.
Well that's all for now, hope we all have a great 4 years.

So the Election is only a matter of weeks away and I have some things I need to get off my chest. We still don’t have a candidate worth voting for, I have said it so many times that it’s apparently beginning to upset some people. Well guess what, I DON’T CARE! I’m pissed and agitated with the people of this country, it makes no sense. I thought after the last 8 years that we would be able to produce some good candidates, honorable, respectable people. We had a couple good people who tried to run a while back but unfortunately the Democratic Party pushed them aside to essentially have an affirmative action election. The Democratic Party pushed all aside except for Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. At first I was…. Okay with this, still better than what we’ve had for the last 8 years. But then Hilary and Barack started fighting like a bunch of 5 year olds and wouldn’t let up. Fighting, within their own party. Bickering none stop within their own party lines about things they agree about. WHAT THE [...]! These actions made me lose all respect for both candidates and lose all faith in the democratic party itself. But the shitstorms didn’t stop there. After Barack was chosen as the democratic party candidate I decided to do some research on him, find out what he’s done. Well first off, he’s done [...]*** NOTHING. He was a “community leader” for a little while then decided to run for congress, joined and in 140 days decided to run for president. HE DIDN’T EVEN SERVE HALF A [...] YEAR BEFORE DECIDING HE WANTED TO BE PRESIDENT! Dear freaking FSM! The man has done [...] nothing and now is inches away from the white house. And no, I don’t like McCain either, I disagree with the man on so many things but at least looking at his service record in Vietnam he is a very respectable man and a true American hero, and yes, when compared to Obama that counts for something. I don’t want to vote for McCain but I’m beginning to feel it’s the only choice I have as he is the only person who should be this close to the white house, aside from Joe Biden who I would vote for if he were the democratic candidate but he’s not, and even he isn’t that great of a choice. AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON PALIN, THAT STUPID B**** WHO WAS ONLY CHOSEN CAUSE SHE’S A YOUNG ATTRACTIVE WOMAN!!! Has anybody listened to this woman speak when she hasn’t been practicing what to say for a week. She just might, scratch that, is dumber than Bush. At least Bush knows what the [...] is happening in this world… sorry I got way sidetracked. The point of all this and the reason I am writing today is that I don’t believe what I see today in Americans. That is weakness. What the hell happened to the people in this country. People used to stand up for what they believe in. PEOPLE USED TO FIGHT FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVED IN. Now all I see is complacency. People just sitting by as they get f***ed by their government. False wars started over lies, $750 billion bailouts, giving failed corporate execs money, then those execs spend that money on a weekend at the spa, AND THEN THE GOVERNMENT GIVES THEM $37 BILLION MORE, and you people do NOTHING! A [...] is what got Clinton impeached and now we have done nothing to Bush and his administration. A [...], AND THE COUNTRY LOST ITS DAMN MIND! BY THOSE STANDARD BUSH SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXECUTED YEARS AGO!!! A president lies, on record, almost 1000 times just in the time leading up to the Iraq war, who knows how many times since, and we do NOTHING! We all just think that’s fine for some reason. In my opinion, if people still stood up for what they believed in we wouldn’t be in the situation we are know, on November 4th we wouldn’t be trying to decide between two bowls of s***. I FOR ONE AM NOT OK WITH THE WAY THINGS ARE AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE A POSITIVE CHANGE BUT NOBODY ELSE SEEMS TO CARE SO I HAVE NOTHING I CAN DO. People used to do things when there government started pissing them off, now everybody just bends over and says “PLEASE MAY I HAVE ANOTHER”. WELL NOT ME, I’M NOT FINE WITH IT AND I CAN’T STAND THAT YOU ALL ARE A BUNCH OF [...] WHO WOULD RATHER SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY FALL APART THEN LIFT A DAMN FINGER, I’M NOT FINE LETTING MEN AND WOMEN LOSE THEIR LIVES OVER SEAS FIGHTING SO I CAN KEEP MY RIGHTS, ONE OF WHICH BEING THE RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST MY GOVERNMENT, AND THEN NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THOSE RIGHTS. WELL I’M TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THOSE RIGHTS. [...] THIS GOVERNMENT, [...] BUSH, [...] CHANEY, [...] WALL STREET, [...] OBAMA, [...] MCCAIN!!! I’M ANGRY AND I WANT A CANDIDATE WHO WILL FIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY, FIGHT TO PRESERVE IT, FIGHT FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IN!!!! [...] COMPLACENCY! AND [...] ALL OF YOU WHO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!!! I WANT TO FIGHT BUT I CAN’T DO IT ALONE!

Ok, this albums been out for a week now and I'm finally ready to write my review of it. It took me a while because I had to listen to it several times over, mostly to get over the excitement of there being a new Metallica album out, as it doesn't happen as often as I'd like. Well, first off I would like to say that this album is exceptional and should win back all the fans they lost after the release of St. Anger 5 years ago. I myself enjoyed St Anger, but can understand why most of the other diehards were so upset. Well, back to the album at hand, Death Magnetic. This album is outstanding. In my personal opinion it is their best album since ...And Justice For All, and sounds like "the missing" album between ...And Justice For All and their self titled "Black" album. All the songs on this CD are extremely high in energy and over all I would say Death Magnetic is the highest energy album Metallica has had since Ride The Lightning. The lyrics are honest and angry and riffs are intense. The single "The Day That Never Comes" starts off nice and slow and then picks up quickly. Most of the songs on Death Magnetic are very melodic at times while keeping the intensity we know to be Metallica. I personaly reccomend Death Magnetic for the Metallica and non-Metallica fans alike. It is so great to Metallica heading back to their roots and would give this album a 9.7 out of 10.

Well it’s been a while since I have posted anything and I figured now that we just had the DNC here on Denver and the RNC in St. Paul I would say something. To start I would like to say the next four years are going to be a [...] nightmare (but not as bad as the last 8). Over the last year I have been watching all the candidates, trying to find one I could get behind. Well, I found one or two people I kind of liked, but the democratic party was so focused on “change” that they put all the attention un Hilary Clinton *shudder* and Barak Obama. The republican party was just a big letdown in general but of all the candidates McCain was the only one I even liked a little. While I agree with the democrats that we need a change in this country I don’t think we’re talking about the same change. Yes, I agree, we need someone who is not just another George W. shitforbrains Bush (why I don’t think I should vote for McCain). The kind of change I want to see in this country are things like getting rid of electoral colleges and going back to one man one vote. I would also love to see the destruction of the two party system because it creates candidates who have to stick to a formula of what they need to say and what they need to believe in, it’s one extreme or the other, when I my experience I’ve noticed most people are in the middle. I would like to see people stand up for what they believe in, and yes people do but a lot of them are crazy, what I mean is over the last 5 years I have noticed that 60-70% of the country hated Bush. It was discovered how many times he flat out lied to the country about his reasons for going to Iraq, what they found there and many other things like that. He [...] up with Katrina pretty bad too. But nobody seemed to want him impeached. We impeached Clinton for getting his dick sucked but when a president lies, steals, puts the economy in the shitter and destroys our reputation with the rest of the world we all shrug and brush it aside. I don’t know why the American people let him get away with so much, he should be jailed for many of his actions but we sit idly by and just let it happen. Anyway, enough ranting about the [...]head in office now, onto the shitheads applying for the job. First McCain, I can’t believe I’m saying this but as of right now, I’m leaning towards voting for the guy. I have some reasons. I agree with him on several issues, but I disagree with him on many. I agree with him on immigration, I agree with him that English needs to be the primary language in America, I agree with him that we need to drill in Alaska and start doing off shore drilling in the gulf because let’s face it, we need oil, I’m sick of paying around $4 a gallon for gas and there is no really god alternative to oil YET, and lastly but most importantly, in terms of the position of the President of the United States of America, the primary role is Commander in Chief, leader of our armed forces, and therefore McCain, with over 20 years SERVED in the armed forces, is the only candidate qualified for the job. Now Obama, I wish I could like the guy, I have tried and at times I do. I agree with him on several issues as well, pro gay marriage, pro abortion, wants to get out f Iraq….. sadly I can’t think of any others at the moment. But he has no experience, he’s barely been a senator, and the childish bickering between him and Clinton in the months leading up to the convention made me not only lose all respect for him, made me despise Hilary and made me lose all faith in the democratic party.
As for the conventions themselves, I was pretty entertained at times by both. First the DNC, it was very interesting and pretty exciting. Rage Against the Machine reformed for a concert at the convention center that I’m sure was a great show. Obama’s speech at Mile High was a good one. But a lot of the commentary about his and his wife’s speech really cracked me up. Everyone kept saying that they would have to prove that they are patriotic and that they love America. I think Jon Stuart put it best in terms of those comments “yes, they have to PROVE that they love America, as apposed to the republicans who we all KNOW love America, they just hate half the people living in it”. I absolutely agree with that statement. I kept wondering why everybody felt that they needed to PROVE these things, for [...] sake, the man is running for president, it’s not some freaking sport, he loves America and wants to be its leader. Why doesn’t McCain have to prove that he loves America, or Palin for that matter. At the RNC, again, McCain’s speech was pretty good but all the attention was on his pick for VP running mate, Alaska governor Palin. I will admit she seems to be very strong and is a power speaker. Her speech was great (even though she was some how blaming the entire countries problems on somebody who has barely been in a government seat) and she refers to herself as a pitbull, not sure if that’s a good thing, to me she was close, she seems like a [...]. Again, she was very powerful and if this country wants a woman president, I would vote for her way before I would ever vote for Hilary Clinton. While she had some good points like I said, she mostly came off as a [...]. I don’t appreciate attacks on opponents, it turns me away. Why can’t people simply talk about what they stand for, what they want to do? Instead these candidates spend all their time and effort slamming their opponents, insulting them and making attack adds. I hate politics and specifically politicians these days, they are all a bunch of whiny 5 yearolds, I keep waiting for Palin to call Obama a doo doo head. So, anyway, I’m still going to wait for the debates to chose a candidate to officially vote for. Or, I’ll just wait for election day when it seems like the best route for voters is if all the candidates went around to all the polling places, and took a dump in a bowl. Then when I and every other voter enters the booth, there in front of them will be two big bowls full of steaming, gooey poop, then the voter will need to lean in close and take a big sniff of both bowls, breath it in deep, then decide which bowl stinks less, and that’s who you vote for.

Something was brought to my attention recently. between 1992-1996 Dick Chaney gave several speeches and interviews in which he stated that America did the right thing in the gulf war by not going to Bagdad. He said that if we went to Bagdad it would be utter chaos. He said that Iraq would start to break into several fractions and that the war would be endless, killing many americans and using up millions upon millions of dollars. Odd... where was this Dick Chaney in 2001-2002? Where was this voice of reason? Where was this sign of intelegence? Where was this sign of care for American's lives and interests? I ask because the very things he said would have happened in Iraq 15 years ago had we gone into Bagdad has since happened in Iraq recently after we did go into Bagdad. I love that this administrations explanation is that "things changed after 9/11". Really? What changed? The chaos in Iraq didn't change. The danger of invading didn't change. Just because some people in Afghanastan took down the towers doesn't mean that the people of Iraq were going to suddenly "greet us as liberators". No, the space time continuem did not change, and this administration knew that. The only thing that did change was the view of New York. So what did our administration do? They lied to us. They told us that the war wouldn't last more than a couple of weeks and cost at most a million dollars. They knew that this war was not going to be easy, they knew we were walking into an endless war but they went anyway. I want to know why. Why did they feel so good about sending thousands of Americans to their deaths? Why does this administration refuse to admit their mistakes? Why is it so important that we stay? What do they think we have to gain? The Iraqi people clearly don't want us to be there, and most Americans don't want us to be there. But this administration won't listen to anybody. They keep saying that we don't understand the circumstances of this war. Well I for one do understand the circimstances of this war (most of which were false) the main thing is i don't get it. Our president has some delusional fantasy that we will turn Iraq around into a great "America like" country, when it's simple NEVER going to happen. Our president seems to think that so long as we don't leave Iraq we haven't loss. Well gues what, we lost the war a long time ago, it's brain is just to small to understand that. Now what needs to happen is there needs to be a commitee formed to discuss where this war needs to go. No, we can't "cut and run" but "staying the course" most certaintly is not working. Both sides simply need to sit down and, now here's gonna be the hard part, listen to each other. Bush seems to think that if we leave that there will be more atacks on America. Fine, my idea, wipe out the entire country, only problem, that will probably make the rest of the world hate us even more (if that's even possible). I think if we leave the rest of Iraq will destroy themselves anyway. I would simply like to see this administration wasting so many American lives and wasting so much money. Our president once said that the war started on it's watch but it will end on ours. I say wrong, to president Bush, YOU FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED [...]**LE!!!!

So our government, as led by Bush, has basically admited that we can't and are not going to win this war. Here's why, their new glorious plan to fight the war in Iraq is to give the people most responsible for blowing up our troops WEAPONS. That's right, the U.S. government has decided to give the sunnis. Now that's a great idea. They're going off the idea of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That's not a bad idea, unless EVERYBODY IS YOUR ENEMY!!! This is just saying "hey, you've been trying to kill us for a while and trying to kill al quida but how about we give you better more accurate weapons to do so. Now we trust you not to kill us TOO much as we are the providers" WE ARE F***ED!!! These are the group of people most responsible for roadside IEDs, yeah great plan. So Bush wants all our troops to learn the following: "hey you, are you sunni? good, no i trust you, now put down that old gun, here's a new far more accurate, more powerful and easier to use gun, now press the barel to my temple, ok now gently squeeze the trigger, don't pu...."

So i've been saying it for years now and it looks like it just might happen, when bush let's another catastrophe like 9/11 you can all say hi to Holy Emperor Bush. The only upside to this s we won't have to try and vote for all the idiots running in '08.
The Bush administration has released a directive called the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. The directive released on May 9th, 2007 has gone almost unnoticed by the mainstream and alternative media. This is understandable considering the huge Ron Paul and immigration news but this story is equally as huge. In this directive, Bush declares that in the event of a “Catastrophic Emergency” the President will be entrusted with leading the activities to ensure constitutional government. The language in this directive would in effect make the President a dictator in the case of such an emergency.

Get rid of the middle east.
I am sick of this "war" and everything that goes with it. The politics these days are really making me sick. I still can't believe they let gonzales off through the "I can't remember" case. Either gonzales suffered a major head injury or is a severe alcoholic. "uhhh, i remember seeing the meeting on my planner but dude...... come on, The Who were in town and i was wasted". sorry, i'm off point. I know what Dubbya is trying to do, yes, were only 23947 American deaths away from "Amerikhastan": from desert to gleaming desert, from New Yorquitar to Califarabia. Unfortunatly this will never work, these countries will never accept our ways, and guess what? That's a good thing. It's okay that all the other countries aren't Amreica 2: America Harder. Bt i laugh because now our "goal" in the middle east is "to make sure there aren't too many car bombings every day". wow. that's ignorant, and that's us finally realizing that we can't win. The conservatives are afraid that if we don't end this war "right" there will be more american attacks. well unfortunatly there might be any way because Dubbya has managed to piss off the rest of the world. Any way i say we stop "taking it easy" on these people. I say torture them, becasue they are only torturing and killing us, usually by cutting off peoples head with a dull rust hack saw. So yeah, tourture the hell out of them. Also, i watch a wonderful show on discovery called Futureweapons were they show new weapons that have been developed, and between this show and many other i realize, THIS "WAR" SHOULD HAVE BEEN OVER IN 6 MONTHS. We should have gone in and just annihilated these people, but instead we have to pussyfoot around and play nice with the people trying to kill us. I say we need to be done with that, i have a plan for the middle east. I say we launch every peacemaker we've got into Afganastan, Iraq and Iran and turn it all into one beautiful glass sheat. I am sick of this war and i am sick of our president and i am sick of this administration and all the bullsh** they feed us everyday.
