The race is closer than most think....!!

TortiseHare218.gif tortise and hare image by fiesty12006

After listening to Obama at his convention and then last night listening to McCain..... I have to tell you that if we went to the polls today I wouldn't  know who would get my vote  until  actually pulling the lever.....  Obama comes off as a salesman with a lot of smooth talk telling everybody what they want to hear .... Although I don't agree with everything that McCain says his  sincerity is real and one can tell that he totally loves this country with all his heart..... He is the total opposite of Dubya.... It is so close that  that the big guns will be coming out and the mud will be flying....... I  don't  trust the parties anymore............

Do you think there is a clear leader.....??

The conventions made up my mind. Im voting Republican this election. Im not enthusicatic about Obama. Not that I dont think his is a good person, I truely think he has jumped the gun in running and he needs to establish himself in Congress better and get much more experience. McCain would not have been my first choice UNTIL he brought Sarah into the picture. I Really like her spunk!! Biden? Not impressed.

Bubba you are right on with the poison comment.... The one thing that the two parties have in common is that there are snakes crawling around in both of their yards....

I don't like eather of them Obama knows nothing about running a country..

McCain has his hand in oil same with his lady VP,so will it be another Bush loving oil twosome?

And Obama does have a VP who is expreince but he does not realy tell what his planes are..

McCain could get blackmail from his day in Nam from commies and that could harm us..

So who do you vote for??

I think I go for the one who can lease harm us in anyway..

Yes they all seems like slime and tend to lie in order to get elected. I do like Sarah Palin though because she's not old school and not part of the club.

Until Palin I was not thrilled with my choices, tho I would have voted McCain for several decent reasons....some mentioned.

But I really like Palin, I like what she stands for...I like what she has done, ...she did a great job with her speech at the convention....she just has really made me more excited about an election that I was soooo luke warm over ....

I loved her joke about the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom.....
lipstick....I cracked up!

Palin will bring out the Republican base mostly the Christian right and working women. People are starting to realise what an empty suit Obamma really is. The promise to veto this congress and publish the names of the ear-markers helped McCains cause quite a bit. McCain is on a roll. If he keep comeing up with good strategy moves Obama may not win a state.

i think a lot of the politicians go in with good intentions on making the country better and are really sincere in their promises, but once in and get some of that big money handed to them by the lobbyists, then its all about them ans to heck with the peons

I have serious reservations about both candidates. I just wish one of them would talk about our national debt and how we're going to pay it off. Neither have a plan to do that. The Libertarian candidate, Bob Barr, has a plan. But the libertarian party never makes much of an effort to join the debates or get their message out.
So that leaves us with McCain. A Washington insider who claims to be a maverick, but he's courting the same old base of the Republican party with the usual suspects backing him. Not to mention the whole Keating-five thing.
Then you have Barack Obama. He basically lied about bringing prescription drug coverage to seniors in IL. Then he voted for $14 billion in tax cuts for big oil at a time when they were making record profits. Other than that, what has he done while in congress?... besides write a couple books about himself???(as if we care)

Eight years of Republicans in the White House and 6 years of a Republican controlled Congress have left this country bankrupt, we borrow money from Communist China to buy oil from Terrorist states, the military over extended with some soldiers facing a 5th deployment, every office of the government has been politicized, espesially the Justice Dept., bankrupcies are at an all time high, foreclosures are at an all time high, 57 million people have no health insurance and those that have health insurance find out it doesn't cover anything, medicare has been manipulated to line the pockets of pharmaceutical companies and leave a $3600 gap in coverage for seniors on fixed income, schools are broke and cutting programs because of Republican unfunded mandates like the failed No Child Left Behind farce, it goes on and on. Yet people are willing to vote for the guy that voted with Bush over 90% of the time??!! I just don't get it.

I agree with katgarner...

And I do not like Palin because she is in with oil guys...we do not need that agin and she is being investgated for something illigal in Alaska..I forget what it was...

I don't like any of them but before going another 4 years of 2 Republicans with there hands in Oil..I will vote for Obama even though I not like him...At lease he is not in bed with the oil guys..

katgarner:
It wasn't the republicans that created out debt. For the most part it was the war on terror. Bush didn't start that war...terrorist did.

If democrats had been in office on 9/11, maybe we'd have more money...but at what price?

I think it is sooo sad that everyone sees dollar signs as their main priority in this election and in their lives. There are more important things to consider.

Yes there are much bigger fish to fry than the debt..... It plays into the picture but Jobs in the U S are the biggest concern on my lists of priorities..... Healthcare and crime and Social Security...... Illegal Immigrants.... roads, bridges, pollution, energy, and revamping our military are just some of the things that are being neglected.... Education and the homeless........
If there was an option for None of the Above on the ballot then I wonder how many people would select that option.......

Ismip,

The war on terror has nothing to do with invading Iraq. For what we have spent on this war we could have given every American an electric car and put solar panels on every house and business and turned the Middle East into a sandy ghetto. To belittle fiscal conservatism is at your own peril. That is what Congress is for. The two biggest deficits have been under Bush 1 and Bush 2. Bush 2 inherited a surplus from Clinton. Never in the history of this country have tax cuts been given in a time of war and the Republicans chose to do so for the top 12% of this country. They have bailed out Wall Street and most recently Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It's corporate welfare at it's worst. And all this while hard working middle class families are losing there homes and jobs and pensions and insurance. Yes, it was the Republicans that caused this financial disaster that is making us beholden to Communist China for every dollar we spend..that my friend is not making us ant safer.

Many of you bring up 9/11 and ask the same question. Price...

Let's see, in the past 8 years we are no closer to finding the guy who master-minded the attack.

Were no closer to having secure borders.

We invaded a country that did not attack us and it has cost us billions in tax dollars we did not have.
So we borrowed it from China, Mexico, England, and several other countries.
Nothing like running a war on a credit card as this Republican Party has done for 8 years.

The real question you should be asking is "do I really trust these guys, McCain or Obama?"

With McCain, you will get more of the same economic mismanagement that you have right now.

With Obama, you will get a new view and a change to fiscal responsibility in government.

Republicans are lying when they say they are conservative. There actions speak louder than their lying words.

When the Republicans took total control of our government in 2000, our national debt was only 4 trillion. Today because of there mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility it is over 9 trillion.

The choice is easy, when I sit at my kitchen table and look at my bills, knowing I have to pay them and knowing the Republicans are the reason my job went over seas. I have to work two part time jobs to even make part of my everyday living expenses. Yep, these Republicans have made the choice easy. I'm voting for Obama. Because these Bum's McCain-Bush and company are too much to take another 4 years of.
