wow, kimmy thank God...we were wondering if it was that chopper, and on channel 8 news they were saying that that thing should have been grounded all day, it should never have went up at all because of the weather conditions that were changing so much

heres the dtory if anyone doesent know what kim is talking about

SUNRISE BEACH - Rescuers removed the body of the nine-year-old victim of a private helicopter crash mid-morning Monday.

The case began with a helicopter crash at about 7 o'clock Sunday night. The helicopter hit the shore of the Porta Cima neighborhood at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Four passengers survived, except for nine-year-old Zachary West of Eureka.

Lieutenant Dave Wall of the Missouri State Water Patrol deals with tragedy, even on a day of celebration.

"I don't think it is any more difficult on a holiday or a weekday. It's a bad situation all the way around," said Wall.

Neighbors witnessed water patrol and other rescue workers rushing to the scene.

"We saw another one, then another one, then another one, so we knew something tragic was probably going on," said neighbor Terry Summers.

Sunday's search produced nothing, but with morning light, searchers made the discovery they had hoped against.

"The water patrol began it's search at 5:30 a.m. And at 10:02 the call came in, the body of Zach West had been found," said Capt. Matt Walz of the Missouri State Water Patrol

"It's extremely tough to console somebody when they lose a child. It's not natural for that to happen. We certainly feel for the family," said Walz

Officers will continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and doctors will perform an autopsy to find the cause of Zachary West's death.

"The death of anybody is bad enough, but when it's a child, it just adds kind of a different light ot a whole problem," sai

the shan says it would never in a million years let its child ride in a helicopter...u always have something negative to say, if they were riding on a bar of gold you would come in and have something to say

I did thank god it wasnt my family, i wish it didnt happen period. We talked with the kids and kinda told them that it could happen anywhere anytime, in any situation. I told them to just enjoy the time they had up there cuz they wont be doing it again!

My prayer's to the family also.
I didn't hear the whole story I guess. I though it was a private helicopter. But it was a tour one. Either way it is sad. That is why I like my feet planted on the ground. It is dangerous enough here. But it does look like fun.

My prayers go out to all involved.

This was a private helicopter.

I was at the lake at the time of the accident and noticed a bunch of water patrol racing down the lake and was notified that a helicopter had crashed. The weather was very unstable. I was very surprised to hear they had even gone out.

We were suppose to watch fireworks the night it happened. There was no way we could have.
We did not know those involved but we were so deeply effected by the sad news. I wished they would have cancelled them.

God bless you Zachery!!!!!!!!

God bless you Zachery!!!!!

To the mom who posted the pictures of her kids on the helicopter:

You can rest a little easier. You were in a different helicopter. You were in a R44. The helicopter that went down was a MD500.
The paint looked similar, but they are 2 different helicopters.
God bless.

It was a private helicopter Selling rides on the strip.
The Captain told Cory it was his first year doing this and he was from the St.louis area.

Kimmy, I can only imagine how thankful you must feel!
The family who lost their child is in my thoughts and prayers. What a terrible thing to have happened.
I love Mr. Wild's comment, "Don't look back, pay it forward".
