Movies...I love to watch them.  I have been told that I am quite the critic.  I like to watch movies that takes me on a journey.  I love mystery, action thrillers, and based on a true story movies. When I go to the movies, I am very analytical by nature and because I studied cinematography.

Today, I watched "Premonition" and "I think I love My Wife."  Yes, these are two different movies but they walk a fine line that parallels one another.  These movies both say the same thing to me, "Life is about choices."  Each week, I teach adults of all ages about making wise choices. Both characters of Sandra Bullock and Chris Rock had to make choices in the movies on how best to handle their circumstances.

With certain classes, I like to assign them a movie to watch.  Previously, I sent them to watch "The Freedom Writers."  In class, we talk about the good and bad choices, the moral and ethical issues, and deliberate between the right and the wrong.

I was thinking about this movie and there is so much in "Premonition" to process. If you haven't seen the movie, then I do not want to tell too much.  However, there are two things that I have thought about...first, Bullock's character "Linda" asks her mother "if I let Jim die is that the same as killing him?" As the movie progresses, we discover the plight of this twisted turn of events leads to the choice  "Linda" must make.  Choices...life is based upon the choices we make.  This movie helped me to think back to a choice I made many years ago...which still affects me today.

Have you seen the movie?  What are you thoughts?

i havent seen the movie yet. i'll get back to you on it when i do. if you have time, check out these movies and write up what you think about them. just wondering what made each of these movies box office flops, and why they ended up having a strong cult following after the video release.

1. Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
2. predator 2
3. ed wood (starring johnny depp)

As for Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man... It has been a while since I heard anything about this movie, to tell you the truth. I will see if I can find it.

Predator 2...hmm. My thoughts are quite limited on this particular movie. The first movie, Predator, is a type of movie that you either hated it or enjoyed it. Most of the people I know hated it. To me, it was not that impressive and could not quite measure up to other movies that came out in the genre.

Ed Wood...??? Johnny Depp has had a great following. I cannot recall this movie at all... hence, I cannot say that too much about it. However, if I come across it, maybe I will check out the synopsis... that usually tells most of what I need to know-whether it is a movie I really neeed to watch or not.

Let's see...I think we all have a movie that we just like...and can't really determine why.

A friend told me about "Hard Candy." The movie title made me yield... and so did the movie. However, I did rent it. It's a very dark movie and eye brow raising.

I did see "Amazing Grace." This is a great movie about abolishing slavery. This movie was quite warm and not as straight laced as I predicted.

"I Think I Love My Wife" was almost typical. The role Chris Rock played was a little different to me. Much of his personality shined through his character... but I thought that this movie was movie was 'matinee' worthy. The best part of the movie, I like the message about marriage made at the end.

I got a chance to watch "Black Snake Moan." First of all, it was very odd to see Ricci & Jackson in a movie together. I have a harder time seeing Ricci playing "Rain." There were so many deep messages in this movie that screamed out at me. I do admit that there were many powerful performances.

I anticipate seeing "Reign Over Me" and "Pride" this weekend...I am also going to see a few theatre plays.

I have not seen the movie yet, but I'm sure I will. Working at Blockbuster I too watch my fair share of movies it's actually in my job discription. I must say that so far in my opinion. The finest movie that shows just how critical life choices can be, and how just one wrong decision has the capability of setting up your entire life's path. I'm sure many people have seen it. It's "Blood In, Blood Out". Another great movie about major life choices would be "Boyz In The Hood". Once again showing the audience how your choices effect not just your lives but also the people around you. I highly recomend them both everytime I watch them I'm moved in a different way.

Another interesting movie that deals with life's choices is "The Devil's Advocate." In a debate class, I compared this movie to "Soul Food." Keanu Reeves and Vanessa Williams were lawyers who were married. An opportunity came around for them--one considered how this might affect one's future, the other did not.

So I went and watched "Reign over me" and "Pride."

I must admit, Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle did a great job with the acting... However, Liv Tyler's character--well, her character troubled me. Her acting, okay, but the fact that she plays a therapist who breaks many of the rules troubles me. No way should she have allowed one client to intervene in another client's world the way they did in the movie. The movie was long...which helped convey the troubledsome nature played by Sandler. It was a good movie...can't say that it was GREAT, but it was a good movie.

Pride--a true story...I like true stories. This movie-a tad different. Terrence Howard really is smooth cat who often plays smooth characters...with the exception of "Hussle and Flow." I like the real-ness of his character because he really took a step I thought many other people would not--or at least, not admit to. The people in the movie had to overcome a lot. I thought Bernie Mac and Kimberly Elise also did well in the acting department. I must admit, I did like the movie and thought it was also a good movie-not a great movie-but a good one.
