A few days ago, the booggyman called me a blog troll, and advised me to look it up.  I did so and these are the definitions I found on....

yahoo...A "troll" is someone who intentionally and persistently posts inflammatory messages about sensitive topics to bait users into responding or provoke a confrontation.

and on networdblog.blogspot.com...Trolling is a well-known phenomenon in commenting and message boards/blogs on the internet. Someone will make a post specifically designed to draw a response and gleefully sit back while they bask in all the attention and furor they caused.

So is it an insult?  Or merely a name to call someone who consistently disagrees with you in hopes of hurting their feelings?  Or is it just someone who likes to debate, which I most definitely am, especially when it comes to causes near and dear to my heart.

Personally, I can think of worse things to be called.......trolling right along.....

Troll on!
You know, in Norway, Trolls are actually respected. My mother has several trolls that are meant to represent each member of the family (mine has ski's on it)

I don't think you're a troll... trolling is creating controversy with malice aforethought, and attempting to create discord and dissention on a board. Bringing up controversial topics for a rational discussion isn't trolling. That whole multiple-personality thing that was going on? THAT was trolling.

Mik,
You are far from a troll. Really think your posts, comments and thoughts are informative and fun. Agree with gryphonesse, you don't post to bring up discord, discontent or maliciousness.

Thanks, Sassy11. I really don't intend on being malicious or rude, but my "mocking bird mouth" tends to run off with my "hummingbird mind" from time to time.

Lanny...right on! How boring would these blogs be if all we did was reinforce each others opinions? I learn a LOT from these blogs.. like new computer terms!!

yeah, because they BLEEP all the other creative terms I come up with...

LOLOLOLOL!!

Even Chassan, whom I've gotten into a heated "discussion" with, isn't a troll. He puts thought, effort and research into his posts and I respect that. A society that can agree to disagree and have RATIONAL discussions is something to strive for. Ever read the chron.com blogs? talk about ignorant trolls... feh

Keep chummin' the waters, Lanny! Us sharks are HONGREH :)

Mlk1of3,

You're no troll.

You're a woman who expresses her honest opinion. I respect your opinions.

Chas...Thank you so much!!

gryph..you are NOT kidding when it comes to other blogs. I lasted five whole minutes on a GOP blog before they kicked me out; the msn blogs eventually turn into sexual innuendo sessions; Netscape is pretty good, but gets boring after a while-too many topics, not enough discussion; the chron blog (which I go to if there's a big story out) OMG, it's hard for me to believe that its MY city on there!!
That's why THIS one is my favorite. 99.9% of the people here discuss, disagree, and argue vehemently without resorting to name calling and other ugliness.
