When you were little, what did you dream of "being" when you grew up?  At age 6, I announced to anyone who would listen that I wanted to be a MAID and clean houses all day.  I used to love to clean...still have  obsessive-compulsive moments at times...but ultimately, at age 16 I worked at McDonald's, at age 26 was working as a social worker, and now at 36 I am self-employed and work from home.

One thing that really impresses me is when someone is CHEERFUL about their job, no matter how mundane it may be.  I just love to be around happy, positive people who are passionate about life and strive  to make it even better.  Remember, you are writing your story...you can't change it after the book is written, but you can change the ending!

M4W: Great blog! Amending the pages in our story of life - what a challenge. I believe being a contestant on American Gladiators would be easier!

The people that you "hang out" with and their attitudes are how you become. If you hang out with deadbeats that are always complaining - guess what! LOL.

Michelle - I totally agree with your statement, "but you can change the ending"! If people would think before they do - we'd be a much better nation. Even though each day isn't filled with smiles ... it sure helps! Stay positive and enjoy life!

Smiley Face

Harp, everyone here loves you just the way you are!

Speedy, well thanks for your comments! But you didn't answer my question...what did you want to "be" when you grew up? And don't you dare say "Babe" and post that ugly picture!!

Michelle, I was thinking about putting up a very similar blog a couple days ago...lol

Well, when I was a little girl, I went through a time when I wanted to be a nun.....lol

After seeing Indiana Jones, I wanted to be an archaeologist.

But...after I got older, I really only wanted to be two things: A wife and a Mother. I guess you could say I'm living the dream.

Good blog. :)

Superjay, I am just having a hard time imagining you in a nun's outfit!! Wow! What changed your mind about that, if you don't mind me asking?

Yes ServantofChrist...to be the best ME I can be, that is great! Ummmmj~~I'm still working on it too!! Someone told me once that the mind of a man plans his destination but the Lord directs his footsteps. I liked that idea a lot.

Michelle this sums it up...I LOVE what I do.
The Calling
I am a minister. I minister to the largest mission field in the world. I minister to children.
My calling is sure. My challenge is big. My vision is clear. My desire is strong. My influence is eternal. My impact is critical. My values are solid. My faith is tough. My mission is urgent. My purpose is unmistakable. My direction is forward. My heart is genuine. My strength is supernatural. My reward is promised. And my God is real.
In a world of cynicism, I offer hope. In a world of confusion, I offer truth. In a world of immorality, I offer values. In a world of neglect, I offer attention. In a world of abuse, I offer safety. In a world of ridicule, I offer affirmation. In a world of division, I offer reconciliation. In a world of bitterness, I offer forgiveness. In a world of sin, I offer salvation. In a world of hate, I offer God’s love.
I refuse to be dismayed, disengaged, disgruntled, discouraged, or distracted. Neither will I look back, stand back, fall back, go back, or sit back. I do not need applause, flattery, adulation, prestige, stature, or veneration. I do not have time for business as usual, mediocre standards, small thinking, outdated methods, normal expectations, average results, ordinary ideas, petty disputes, or low vision. I will not give up, give in, bail out, lie down, turn over, quit or surrender.
I will pray when things look bad. I will pray when things look good. I will move forward when others stand still. I will trust God when obstacles arise. I will work when the task is overwhelming

I will work when the task is overwhelming. I will get up when I fall down.
My calling is to reach boys and girls for God. It is too serious to be taken lightly, too urgent to be postponed, too vital to be ignored, too relevant to be overlooked, too significant to be trivialized, too eternal to be fleeting, and too passionate to be quenched.
I know my mission. I know my challenge. I also know my limitations, my weaknesses, my fears, and my problems. And I know my God. Let others get the praise. Let the church get the blessing. Let God get the glory.
I am a minister. I minister to children. This is who I am. This is what I do.

I wanted to be an athlete. A basketball player or a runner.
Other times I wanted to be a singer or in a band playing the guitar.

Michelle, I was really young at the time. I went to Catholic School and they were always talking about "hearing the call"...Well, probably most girls I knew thought they heard the call at one time or another. I am now where I'm supposed to be. I can feel it...although somedays are better than others...LOL

Here is a follow-up question: Have you ever wished you hadn't given up on a dream to become something else?

Lovin' the answers so far!

I wanted to be a movie star! Go ahead and laugh...at least I'm honest!

I also wanted to be a nurse...I made it as far as nurses aid (by then I already had kids)!

My real passion is art! In high school I went to regular school half day and art school half day...I had a pretty good shot at it, too! But instead I left home and got married when I was 17 (no, I was NOT pregnant!)...from what my teachers told me when I visited during what should have been my Senior year, I had several scholarship offers!

Now I'm a mom...I love bieng a mom and I am living a dream!

I love your new Bio, Michelle! That's how I try to treat people! And I am all about cheerful!

The first thing I wanted to be when I was young was a weatherman. As I got older and in college in my 20's i wanted to be on the radio.

As you know, I too am self employed, & I have gained motovation, self satisfaction, and have grown and have met wonderful people.

Regardless what an individual does with there lives, just be happy at what you do. Happiness by far will be greater that any paycheck one receives.
I wish anyone who is writing there book, that everyones Final Chapter will be entitled "Happiness"
As Always

Blessings:
R....

Wow Cansdw! Just "WOW" and that's all I can say girl...I'm so glad you love what you do!

Antonio, I did not know any of that about you! I thought I knew EVERYTHING about you...HA! So you can sing? Okay, next time we all get together, we are going to have to hear you do some karaoke!! Oh yeah, you sang something to Susan at Jana's birthday party, didn't you??? So..Antonio likes to sing!!

Good follow up question too. I am very happy with my career. And I don't regret the time I spent at home with the kids when they were little.

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore....and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past; there's a reason they didn't make it to your future. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle! ~m
