I don't know if the rest of ya'll have seen the video about what Royse ISD has done with a PSA video done by it's own students, but I think it's ridiculous.

The PSA is about honesty and in the video it shows a hint of a girl kissing another girl and being honest and true to herself and her feelings. That is why they wouldn't show the video to the rest of the students.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Homosexuality is not a rare thing. All the kids at that school know exactly what it is and would not be hurt in seeing the video. The adults just didn't like it because there was a hint of something wrong in their eyes. I have many many lesbian and gay couples at my school and it is accepted and we have never had problems with it. In the news video about the PSA the, I'm guessing principal, says that they were just trying to protect the school children (highschoolers) and that this wasn't just about one student. Of course it's not! It's about everyone. That's why it's a freaking PSA. They are just trying to stop others from showing their lifestyles because they are so conservative.

This is just stupid to me. So start with your opinons.

Being an adult, a parent, a conservative and a Christian who actually believes the Bible, I completely understand their point and objection. What a pity many do not and will not.
Morally speaking the video is promoting and condontion homosexuality. It maybe more "in" in our society, but it certainly is not with God.
They did the correct thing.

I have lived in the Royse City area now for almost 15 years and have a kid in Royse City Middle School. I personally would not have cared if they chose to show the video.
However, I do understand the stance of the school district. This is a no win situation for them.
Option#1- don't show the video, and upset a few students.
Option#2- show the video, and upset many parents and the church community.
I believe the RCISD was just trying to stay clear of the line of fire.

Chardoney, I understand you being against homosexuality because you are a Christian and in your eyes being gay is wrong, but not in all eyes. I'm a Christian and I am perfectly fine with it. I believe God loves everyone and because of their choices they will not be condemed. The video was not meant to promote homosexuality it was meant to promote honesty with yourself and others.

And to Cbfan, you're right it was a no win situation for the school district but they should have just let the children watch it because as they said in the newscast, it has now been viewed by many more than it was originally planned. Their actions only promoted the video.

Macsenior: After reading your comments may I suggest & I pray that you go and read the Bible and ask God to give you understanding of his Word. Because if you are Christian you are not to conform to the things of this world, meaning just because it is acceptable to the world does not mean it is acceptable to God's will if He has said it is an abomination/sin. Man may sin to change the Word to fit what he believes, but remember God's Word never changes. Unfortunately, a lot of people who are professed Christians may fall from the grace of God because they feel if everyone else is doing it then it is okay because God loves everyone, because times has changed. Well God do love everyone but he hates their sin, therefore if man do not choose life through accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior and turn away from sin through his walk with Christ then he will surely die in sin, which is eternal death. Even if you choose Jesus and continue the path you were on you are no better than the sinner who has not asked for forgiveness and you will be judged as the sinner because you knew better. Therefore, as a Christian no you should not condemn anyone but it is our job to let them know of their sins & ask them to accept Christ and/or pray to God that he will change their hearts through His will. I just don't want you to be fooled to think that certain things you see in this world is okay and that God will not judge & condemn them for their iniquities. Because in the end everyone will go before Jesus & the Father and be held accountable for their life here on earth. Have a bles

Hugsomeonetoday, I don't really need a lecture on my beliefs on God and my religion. I am firm in where I stand. I understand that others may view things the way you do, but I will always see my God as a good and gracious God who will not create someone to live and then condem them for living. God does not hate people and if he doesn't hate people, his creation, then how can he hate what they do. Being homosexual is not always a choice as some may believe and those who are against it choose to be that way. I realize that in the Bible it says that man and woman should be together. But again, why would God send his children to hell because they love some one of their own gender. My God is a loving God, that is what I choose to believe. Thank you for your view, but I have my own and I stand by it.

And just to let you know you think that people believe that homosexuality is okay because times have changed. Men and women have been homosexual since the very days of Christ and before then. Some of our worlds most proclaimed artists, philosophers and world leaders have been gay. It has been accepted all through time until just recently in the past hundred years. Times have changed for the worst and the people that still see homosexuality, I believe, as good, they are the right ones.

You have a blessed day too.

Macsenior08, I am not givng you a lecture but please read KJV I Corinthians Chapters 5 & 6 and this should answer your response. However, if not I still will pray that God will give you true understanding of his Word.

hugsomeonetoday isn't giving you a lecture...of course not...just a big dose of hate hidden behind a perverted view of Christianity. A view that Jesus himself would be ashamed of.

When will these people realize that teens and young adults need to make their own decisions about their own lives and have the support there for whatever that is. While some people try to tell these kids they are wrong for being gay and their feelings that come from the core of their soul are evil, many of these kids commit suicide or afraid to be themselves and living in fear of anyone finding out they are gay. There needs to be real education, like these PSA's they banned, letting teens know that whether they are gay, straight or whatever...they are still human beings with valid feelings and rights. Until that time we will still have hate like the kind that killed Matthew Shephard or that fills the hearts of those like hugssomeonetoday or those freaks that protest soldier's deaths blaming America's woes on gay people.

And those who want to hide behind bible verses don't understand those words were written by inspired men who might have been disciples of Christ but also were men who had their own opinions and ideas. Many scholars also believe that their words were subjected to "alterations" by a certain powerful group who wanted those words to benefit their beliefs and control. I believe that could be possible especially since the fact remains that for every supposed condemnation for homosexuality that is implied or assumed..there are more examples of Christ loving everyone unconditionally

Thank you very much Irish, I agree with you completely and I'm really glad someone else sees that viewpoint. Finally someone that is accepting!

Irishjdf, I echo your sentiment. However, I can't pass jugdement on Hug or Chard. that's how WE have been taught all our lives. It kind of reminds me of the old ham story. A kid walks into the kitchen and sees Mom cutting the end off of the ham and ask why. She says because her Mom always did. So, the kid ask the Grandmom why did she cut the end off of the ham. The Grandmom replied, so the ham could fit in the pan! Therefore, if Mom had just got a larger pan...well they could have had a lot more ham. I guess the point is to find out for yourself. Dig deeper! Don't settle for what you are told. Find out for yourself! Find YOUR truth in God's word! It's there and it sounds to me like you're digging it up! I'm proud of you!

Since when do Christians start choosing what part of the Bible to believe, Mac?

Irish, no one said anything about students not being able to choose - you alone did. Kids are known for making a bevy of poor choices - I know I did! Choices today are not about right and wrong, but rather about what is cool or not col. the PC crowd stifled free speech.

I support the school districts decision. Just because something is accepted doesn't make it right. Heck, milliopns of innocent babies are murdered (aborted) a year, and yet it is legal?

Nope, as for me and my house, we choose to believe ALL the Bible. Homosexuality is very wrong, but very forgivable.

If it is forgivable, as you say scotty, then why is it so hated and discriminated against? especially by many Christians. I don't chose to believe parts of the Bible, I read it and then take what I see it to mean.

And yes just because something is accepted it doesn't make it right, but the school district didn't have a right to say that they couldn't show that video. This is nothing compared to abortions and things like that. Bad comparison. It was a harmless video, the teens were not trying to make a big deal about it, they were entering into a contest where they were asked to be controversial. They only did what they thought was a good PSA.

The school district said it was not to be viewed, simple enough.
I myself could care less what anyone does when they become an adult, but when you are in school you have to go by the school rules.
I read that the movie didn't win any awards.

Babysister, If the school district told everyone that they had to wear uniforms, cut their hair a specific way, talk only to specific people, not eat lunch until 3 and that they were not allowed to go to the restroom would the kids still be expected to follow those rules?

Rules set forth by many districts are stupid in my opinion and the only reason that they did not want this video seen was because they didn't like it. They took no vote, they did not ask the students, they chose to do what they wanted. Who cares if the video did not get any awards, it's the fact that they district took something away that they didn't really have the right to.

The POINT Mac's trying to make does NOT concern religon, which everyone is commenting on.

The Video was about TRUTH, and whether the school district should have shown the video to the students. Since the video was in competition with other videos, then I believe that it should have been shown, since the content was only "IMPLIED", and not shown.

By NOT showing the video, received more exposure, than if they had not shown it.

Teens are smart enough to make their own decisions. Whether right or wrong, it's their decision to make. We've all been there and done that. (Lord knows my niece at 16 and nephew at 18 think they're smarter than any adult living.)

The school district was in a Catch 22 position, either way. There was no right, or wrong answer.

Rules are part of life, at school, at home, at work, in football, basketball, etc, the examples you stated are ridiculous.
When You get out of school, there will be more stepping stones and rules along the way..
I wish you well, in your journey, sometimes it is a very bumpy ride.

How do you know what was on the minds of the authorities, Klutzy. Are we to believe you're some neo Jeanne Dixon? It is to many of us about decency, ego, about our Christian beliefs. I find it laughable and moreover ironic that you left seeks free speech, that is, until a Christian wants to speak.

Babysister hit in on the proverbial head: rules are to be obeyed. If you don't like them, work in a legal manner to have them changed. But to willfully be disobedient brings the wrath and problems so many of us face as a direct result.

Even leaving "religion" aside, we are to be obedient to our elders, superiors and leaders.

As a country we have fallen greatly, and that because of the, "It's ok if you think it's ok mentality."
