Trial Set for Teens Teaching Toddlers to Get High on Video Last Edited: Tuesday, 25 Mar 2008, 1:22 PM CDT Created: Tuesday, 25 Mar 2008, 12:46 PM CDT .
Two teenagers who were seen on videotape apparently teaching and encouraging a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old to smoke marijauna will go to trial in May. Fort Worth police seized the video after carrying out a search warrant at a home in Wautaga in February 2007. The video generated nationwide outrage because it showed the little boy's uncle, Demetris McCoy, 17 and his friend, Vanswan Polty, 18, holding a marijuana-filled cigar in the boys' mouths and lighting it. Police said Polty and McCoy badgered the little boys into getting high. The children appeared to be familiar with smoking and coughed when they inhaled. McCoy and Polty have been in jail since March 2007 on charges of injury to a child as well as burglary charges. After the tape surfaced, Child Protective Services gained custody of the boys. Subsequent blood tests on the children revealed that they also had cocaine in their systems. In a jail house interview on March 22, 2007, McCoy said it's common where he comes from for children to do drugs. "I see it all the time," he said. McCoy also said that he was high when he was encouraging the boys to smoke pot. The boys' mother told police she was asleep in another part of the home and was unaware of what was happening. She relinquished her parental rights in December 2007 and the boys remain in foster care and are ready for adoption. _______________________________________________________

AHHH This is insane!!! These boys should be held in prison and not let out. I am so glad that they decided to be even more idiotic and videotape themselves. I applaude on that, good job at getting those kids AWAY FROM YOU!
The perfect example of why weed is illegal. This is so sickening. I am so glad that those kids are out of that home and can possibly find a great family to be with that will keep them away from drugs!

NEW YORK -- A federal appeals court has heard arguments in the free speech case of a Connecticut teenager, who claims officials at her high school improperly barred her from serving on the student council because of what she wrote in an Internet blog.
The lawyer for 17-year-old Avery Doninger of Burlington, Conn., told the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday that officials at Lewis Mills High School should not be able to regulate students' off-campus free speech, including Internet postings.
The school's attorney argued that education officials should have the right to act if a student leader makes offensive comments about the school on the Web.
Doninger wrote disparaging comments about school officials on an Internet journal from her home computer. School officials last year barred her from serving as the Class of 2008 secretary.
The appeals court did not issue a ruling Tuesday.

My opinion is that the school should have NO say over what their students say in their homes or on their personal sites. School is school and at school officials have actual power. Anywhere else they need to learn that they do not rule over the students that attend their school. This girl was expressing her own opinon and had the right to!
On fox4 I've said certain things about my school that could probably be taken as offensive to the officials, like saying that my school has become a prison to the students and that traditions have been thrown out the window by new admins. Does this mean that I could be taken to court? Free speach was given to us in the Bill of Rights, something they teach at schools. Maybe the officials should go back to highschool and get a better education and get over themselves. I can garuntee you that over half of these officials have made derogatory remarks about the students.
Who's with me on this :). Let me hear it.

Last night at my church we watched a short movie where a man discussed the beginning of Christianity and it's history. At the end of the short movie we were asked to answer a few questions and I wanted to share them here.
Have you ever heard of Mithra or Attis and if so how do you explain the many similarities between their stories and the story of Christianity?
Who is do you think is God and what makes him special?
I explained my beliefs at group and we discussed it for quite awhile. I know that there are many strict Christians on here and I was wanting to know some of ya'lls thoughts.
Just fyi for all of ya'll I have faith in God and am a firm believer. I would just like to see what everyone else thinks.
Let me hear it.

Earlier today I was reading another blog about the neglect of a poor poodle. I've heard of other instances where there is severe neglect of animals to the point of the animal's death. I can honestly say that every person that abuses or neglects their animals is a horrible person. If someone can do such things to animals, they deserve harsher punishments, hence my title.
Most of these people are getting a slap on the wrist and a small fine. There is a house 3 streets down from my boyfriends that has dog fights. Why are these people allowed to have animals, why isn't there harsher punishments. These people are sick and they are using the poor animals.
I wish I could save all the animals that are being hurt/used/killed for pleasure, this is truly a sick world.
Does anyone know if there is anything going on in our state that will help protect animals or give the people the punishment that they deserve?
Please let me hear it. I want to help do whatever I can.

It's been a few weeks since I've been on Fox, mostly because I don't like arguing about my opinon on somethings. i'm all up for telling eveyone what I think, but when people challenge my opinion and try to change it I get extremely offended.
What this blog is about is a topic I am very passionate about, gun control. I was reading another blog and some of it's comments and I was suprised at how many people where for people just carrying around guns and having the right to use them. I don't understand what is going on in the minds of these people. I understand possibly having a gun at you home to protect your family or property, but being able to carry guns on your person is just ridiculous to me. I understand that again they are for protection. But when did the world become so bad that something like mace could not be used to stop an act of violence. When did killing someone become okay? That is what guns do, they are not meant to merely harm someone, they are meant to kill and when people carry them on themselves, they are saying that they are willing to kill another.
I'm against this, and I know i'm going to be under fire (pun intended) for having this kind of opinion so let me hear it.

So it's that time of the year again where all the schools are preparing for TAKS. Fun, Fun! This test makes me sick. I'm lucky enough to have passed and gotten commended every year so now I can finally skip out on them, but now I'm having to miss out on time with my kids at the elementary schools I've talked about before, I'm missing out on class time and I'm having to listen to everyone and their friends complain about TAKS.
I believe this test is pointless and should be stopped at the schools. It is on a junior high level for highschoolers and it takes up half of the year for elementary school classes. It's time to get rid of it.
Let me hear it.

Fox 4---
More than 16,000 prisoners were released early during the last six months of 2007 to ease jail overcrowding.
Between June and the end of December more than 300 new crimes were committed by freed prisoners.
The early release scheme was orginally unveiled by former Justice Secretary Lord Falconer as the prison population hit the 81,000 mark for the first time.
Figures published by the Ministry of Justice show 16,197 prisoners were released altogether.
Of those, 117 who were ordered to return to jail have gone on the run.
Shadow justice secretary Nick Herbert said early release had put the public at risk and failed to reduce over crowding.
"Over 16,000 prisoners, including 3,000 violent offenders, have now been let out of jail early in just six months because this Government has refused to build adequate prison capacity.
"This policy has now created more than 300 unnecessary victims of crime.
"They should have been protected by the criminal justice system but have been let down by Labour's incompetence.
"This early release scheme must be scrapped immediately and sufficient prison places provided so that public safety comes first."
----------------------------------------------------
--------------------
Okay WHAT?!?!?! This is the stupidest idea ever. Letting criminals out because the jails are overcrowded? When did problems with jails ever come up? Who cares if they are cramped or.. oh they have to share a room. Stuff them in there is what I say. You commit a crime, you go to jail, you do not get out of jail until you are released on your own date or you die. period.
The 300 victims can all be blamed on our system of government and their stupid logic. And is this enough to stop them? Of course not!! They keep filtering them out all over the U.S. and we say that illegal immigrants are our main source of crime HAH. That's bull. It's our government releasing the dangerous people that they put away BACK in our neighborhoods. And whats better, is that when they realize this was a mistake, they can't find them or catch them to bring them back in.
Let me hear it.

Here comes another thing wrong with schools these days.
At our school, and I don't know how many others, teachers have now been given the priviledge of sending automated computer messages to parents to tell the parents every single detail about their child. All the teacher has to do is log into a system called TellAParent and select a messge about the student they would like to send to their parents. (My mother got 4 just yesterday)
Not all the messages are bad, some are good and some are informative. But these random calls should not be forced upon those who do not wish them to be. My mother was very irritated about when and how many times they called her, just to let her know of a project (I had already discussed with her) and other harmless messages.
Parents should be asked if they would like to recieve these messages, not just get a million a day because of projects and good participation.
True these messages may help some parents by allowing them to see when their child skips or misses a test or something important. But again, these are the only kinds of messages that should be sent and only to those who ask for them.
Let me hear it!

I just learned that next school year there will be 1200 new cameras set in at all the Irving schools.
How much of an invasion of privacy is this? We already have cameras and we haven't had any problems, at least at Macarthur. I understand that they are trying to protect us, but what happens when, as ya'll all like to say, we get out into the 'real world' there aren't going to be hundreds of cameras surrounding us.
I'm just glad the cameras aren't coming in til I'm gone.

Many people who have been responding to my posts (Thanks to all) have called me man, or sir or such things.
I just want to clear things up I am not a man... I am a woman and would love it if I stopped being called young man. haha
I sometimes wonder though if the reason some of these people have assumed I am a man is because they believe a woman would not or could not have the views I have or express their opinons as much as I have.
Just a theory.
Thanks, Let me hear it if you have something to say!

Thanks to a new state law, school districts have the power to require proof of identity from visitors. And one North Texas district is already asking for it.-- FOX 4
Okay, I don't know how long they have known about this but I've been doing it since October. I am enrolled in a program at my school where 3 times a week I go visit 2 elementary kids and then on fridays I help out a teacher in her class at the same school.
I was also enrolled in this last year and last year all we had to do was login to a computer and it took care of our attendence and the times we clocked in and out. I thought thatt this was a legitimate way of watching who went in and out of the school. But I guess not because this year I went back to the same school and was asked to have a state id or drivers liscene so that they could scan it. Luckily I had one and now everytime I walk around the school I have to have my ID tag on with my ID picture and some information on it. To me this is just unnecessary. I know it is mainly for protection of the students. This isn't just at the school I go to it is in all IISD schools. What I don't understand is why the students are forced to have an ID tag. They accepted the program quite a few years ago and just this year did they start to force us to wear the tags with our pictures and information on them.
I've gotten used to it now but it still takes time away from seeing our kids at the schools. I completely understand if it is an adult that the school is not familiar with and would like to keep tabs on. But why the students that they welcomed in?
Let me hear it.

I don't know if the rest of ya'll have seen the video about what Royse ISD has done with a PSA video done by it's own students, but I think it's ridiculous.
The PSA is about honesty and in the video it shows a hint of a girl kissing another girl and being honest and true to herself and her feelings. That is why they wouldn't show the video to the rest of the students.
GIVE ME A BREAK!
Homosexuality is not a rare thing. All the kids at that school know exactly what it is and would not be hurt in seeing the video. The adults just didn't like it because there was a hint of something wrong in their eyes. I have many many lesbian and gay couples at my school and it is accepted and we have never had problems with it. In the news video about the PSA the, I'm guessing principal, says that they were just trying to protect the school children (highschoolers) and that this wasn't just about one student. Of course it's not! It's about everyone. That's why it's a freaking PSA. They are just trying to stop others from showing their lifestyles because they are so conservative.
This is just stupid to me. So start with your opinons.

Apparently there is a test system happening in Georgia right now where potential dropouts are being paid 8 dollars an hour to go to study hall.
Since when are people bribing kids to go to school?
I honestly think this will increase the number of potential dropouts because more kids are going to think, oh it's okay if I want to drop out, they'll just pay me to stay.
This is the completely wrong approach to handling dropouts. And this is coming from a person still in highschool and hardly loving it haha.
What does everyone else think about this new test system going on??

A radical Baptist church in Kansas known for picketing the funerals of soldiers who perished in Iraq said it intends to protest Heath Ledger's memorial service with signs claiming the actor died and is in Hell because he played a gay character in “Brokeback Mountain.”
Shirley Phelps-Roper of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka said that she and other members will picket Ledger’s United States memorial services, not those held in his native Australia.
“You cannot live in defiance of God,” she said. “He got on that big screen with a big, fat message: God is a liar and it’s OK to be gay.”
A press release circulated by the church references Leviticus 18:22 in the Bible, which states that “thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
“Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there,” the Westboro Baptist announcement says.
Started 1955, the Topeka, Kan.-based church has conducted over 34,000 peaceful demonstrations opposing the homosexual lifestyle, according to their Web site, GodHatesFags.com.
The organization runs various Web sites, including GodHatesAmerica.com and others that condemn lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, Muslims, Roman Catholics and Jews as well as certain nationalities, according to Wikipedia.

Actor Heath Ledger Dead at 28 The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the church as a hate group and the organization is monitored by the Anti-Defamation League, according to its Wikipedia entry.
Phelps-Roper said the church group will also be picketing the Academy Awards this year.
Both the printed release and Phelps-Roper’s verbal diatribe about Ledger were rife with homophobic slurs. She said that those who call her and other members of Westboro Baptist Church bigots must also think God is a bigot.
“God hates [...],” she said. “The wrath of God has been revealed before the eyes of this nation with the death of Heath Ledger. … This nation worships the dead almost as much as they worship their filthy sex acts. America is doomed.”

When I look around this website at some of the bulletins and blogs and such, I find a lot about kids specifically teenagers. Me being a teenager automatically sets up my guard when I read such things.
I've seen message boards that say things like teenagers are the only people that 'sag' and that it's usually African Americans. This is completely untrue. I can go outside right now and find at least 30 white men in their late 20's sometimes 30's that sag. It's a fashion statement just like shorter skirts were in the 50's and no bras in the 70's. Get over it people. I don't like it either but to force people to not wear something because you dont like it? To me thats just ridiculous.
Next thing I hear a lot is stuff about teen pregnancy, including stuff about Jamie Spears. I am a big advocater for giving out birth control in schools to try and protect teens from having babies. A lot of the time I read things like, oh its the parents fault or it's the teenagers fault because of hormones. People are just trying to find other people to blame things on. Everyone was a teenager once, people just like to forget what it was like.
All I'm trying to say is think about what you are saying about kids especially teenagers then next time you are so quick to say things about them. Don't stereotype or go with statistics, because no everyone is the same. They deserve the same respect anyone else does and they usually don't get it. So just please, think twice about some of the things you people accuse teenagers of doing.
