I don't understand why no charges were filed in this case.

These roads are so dangerous to break down on.

It's sad.  A whole family gone.

SUV Kills 2 Adults, 2 Toddlers . WEST, Texas -- -- A man, woman and two children are dead after they were hit and killed by a sport-utility vehicle on an Interstate 35 frontage road in Central Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety says the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday about 15 miles north of Waco near the town of West. They said the man and woman were walking with a baby girl and a boy, age about 2, after their car apparently stalled on the two-way frontage road. DPS Cpl. Charlie Morgan said a sport-utility vehicle apparently crested a rise and slammed into the family from behind, hurling their bodies about 100 feet. The DPS identifies the dead as Brandee Thorpe, 20; Austin Fontenot, 2; and Kinzee Fontenot, 1; all of Hillsboro; and Gregory Howell, 25, of Robinson. Their relationships are unclear. The driver of the SUV was interviewed, but no charges are filed.

How do you just plow into an entire family? Was there any sign that the driver tried to avoid them? Too many drivers just don't pay attention to their surroundings.

WEll, I didn't post it...but if you look at the picture on article, it shows skid marks. I am assuming that they might be from the SUV. But, like you said, HOW do you not see 4 infront of you and hit them so hard that you send them over 100 yards?

An SUV killed someone? Seriously? No one driving the thing? humm, seems to be the driver would be at fault and not a vehicle. lol

Got another question, why were they walking in the road instead of on the shoulder? You know sometimes an accident is caused by both parties being a little in the wrong.

why would charges be filed? it's not like he meant to run them over. Sometimes bad things that happen are just accidents. was he speeding or was he drunk or something that would put blame on him?

Some of them roads out there have no shoulder.

I don't know. I just don't see how they couldn't have been seen to avoid unless you are going to fast to stop.

That's all that there was to the story.

Point blank.

Maybe more will come. But, I seriously doubt it unless some kind of lawsuit comes about.

Put yourself in both places. It's night and your walking because your car broke down.Where? In the traffic lane or on the edge of the pavement while watching for lights behind you? I am on the edge of the road. Now the driver. Its late, maybe your tired. You top a hill and wham, there are people in the road.By the time you react and hit the brakes it's too late. Now you have to live with that site of hitting them the rest of your life.

"crested a rise"...he just came up over a hill. why would he be at fault? perhaps the family were not able to be seen. put it the other way...why didn't the family see him and get out of the way? surely they heard him?
it's a terrible accident. no one should be sued, no one should be charged etc. if it is in fact truly an accident. now had he been speeding excessively or drunk...that's a different story. my mom ran over a kid on a bike. she was not charged. accidents happen. that's why they are called accidents.
