All I can say about this story is, that I cried.  While reading it.  And after.

It is sickening what this man did.

He deserves worse than the death penalty.

Just look at the smirk on his face in the picture.  This is what he looked like when he received his sentence.

Nothing but evil on that face.

But, we all know that due to his nature of being a pedophile, he will not be put in with the general public in prison to protect him from being murdered while in there.

Pedophile Sentenced to Death for Murdering 9-Year-Old Idaho Boy

A longtime sex offender was sentenced to death Wednesday for the 2005 kidnapping, torture and murder of a 9-year-old northern Idaho boy after federal jurors who watched video of some of the brutality deliberated just three hours.

The jurors' recommendation was binding on U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge, who thanked them, dismissed them and then sentenced Joseph Edward Duncan III.

Relatives of the victim, Dylan Groene, remained somber as the jury's decision was announced. Duncan murdered Dylan's mother, older brother and his mother's fiance to kidnap him and his younger sister, who was sexually abused along with her brother but survived.

"The jury speaks the mind of the community," U.S. Attorney Tom Moss said. "By the verdict today, they have given voice to the victims."

Duncan showed no reaction other than smiling as the verdict was passed to the judge.

He took Dylan and the boy's then-8-year-old sister, Shasta, to a remote western Montana campsite where he raped, tortured and threatened them before shooting Dylan in the head and burning his body. Jurors viewed horrifying video Duncan made of him sexually abusing, torturing and hanging Dylan until the boy lost consciousness.

"This defendant is dangerous. He is a predator who takes pride in his work," prosecutor Traci Whelan said. "He earned this day. His actions ... call out for the death penalty."

Duncan acted as his own attorney but had offered no response to prosecutors' closing argument.

"I have no argument," he told the court.

With an eye toward kidnapping the two children, Duncan stalked their family. In 2005 he entered their Coeur d'Alene-area home and used a hammer to fatally bludgeon their 13-year-old brother, Slade Groene, his mother, Brenda Groene, and her fiance, Mark McKenzie.

Duncan was arrested and Shasta rescued weeks after the kidnappings when a waitress at a Denny's in Coeur d'Alene called police after recognizing the two as they ate.

Duncan pleaded guilty in December to 10 federal charges involving the kidnappings and the murder of Dylan. He pleaded guilty to the other three murders in state court, where he also could be sentenced to death.

"I am so glad this is over. Justice has been served," said Darlene Torres, Brenda Groene's mother. "It's been very painful."

She said that when she saw Duncan in court, "I seen nothing but an evil, empty, coldhearted shell."

In closing arguments, Whelan reminded the jury of Duncan's lifelong "pattern of violence," including a conviction for raping a boy at gunpoint in 1980. Duncan has told investigators he killed two half-sisters from Seattle in 1996, and he is charged with killing a young boy in Riverside County, California, in 1997.

Duncan may now be brought to Riverside County to stand trial in the death of Anthony Martinez.

Whelan told the jury that Duncan would pose a risk even to prison guards and fellow inmates.

"This defendant uses the time that he has to think out these plans and he is dangerous," she said. "He is adaptable and he is dangerous."

The heinousness of the evidence in Dylan's murder made it particularly difficult for the jurors to remain impartial as they deliberate, said Art Patterson, a jury consultant and senior vice president of the trial consulting firm DecisionQuest.

"Generally, for human beings, it's pretty hard to maintain impartiality when confronted with such horror," Patterson said.

"How could any juror not want to see this person removed from our list of living human beings? How could you live with yourself as a juror if there's any chance this human being could escape from jail and do something like this again?" Patterson said.

The death penalty is too good for this guy. He should have to endure the same thing he put those kids through. I am sure there are plenty of inmates who would be happy to dish his punishment out.

And, that is why I say that he will be protected while in there so that the other prisoners won't kill him. But, where there is a will, there is a way for these men. They will get to him. Especially when they find out what he has done and the age of the children.

This guy doesn't deserve the humane death the state provides, he deserves to be slowly tortured, then brought back to heatlh and tortured again for every life he took- then and only then should he be allowed to die in the slowest most painful way imaginable. I say beat him to a pulp, then cover him with honey and stick him in a room with a bunch of army ants- film it all and show it to every criminal that has ever even thought of hurting a child.

They should put him in the general population and let that be his death penalty.

He should be put into a cell with plenty of roommates. On top of that, there should be a sign around his neck saying what he did.

As I state, TX..I cried while I read it and after.

It saddens me to think of what these poor kids went through.

But, worse, I have to stop and think about what if it was one of mine that this animal was after. ****shivers down spine***

I am so glad that he will be rid of. I don't care how they do it. Lord forgive me for my thoughts of how. But, I think of the children and their family that was killed to get to them.

Its sad but the good Lord will handle him. As far as being in the general public in prison in the state of Texas they are in the general public but the prisons are different rates like murders one rate less offensive another not every prison holds the more violent crime ones. But they all should be in the ones with the harden criminals so they themselves can get manhandled!!!!!

A just sentence. He slaughtered an entire family. The one lone survivor, God bless her, I hope that she gets counseling and enough love to help her.

For the life of me I cant understand or figure out why someone like this guy and Casey have a desire to hurt children...especially thier own child! What drives a person to do such things? Yet, is this man also to be forgiven of his sins? My apologies, but I cant forgive him for that! Just as he sat there with no remorse, I sit here with no remorse for him. You get what you give. True! The death penalty is to easy for him.
My feelings are for the little girl that survived it and now she has to live with it for the rest of her life.
Do any of you think that if she was giving the chance to punish this perv, could she, would she...do it?

Just the fact that he murdered a child-regardless of his sexual proclivities-should be enough to fry the guy. What has always puzzled me is how the death of a child often gets little or no punishment while the death of an adult gets more. To my mind, killing a child is the ultimate horror and such people deserve to die. Of course, then there are those who would whine that it would limit abortions and make late term abortions illegal-to which I answer-GOOD!!!!

The crime this man commited was truely horrible. He will get what he has coming to him.
I can feel everyones anger toward him in here. Unfortunately I learned in church that every sin is the same in gods eye. So whether you stole a candy bar from the local grocery store or you did what this man did, your sin is equal. In other words, a sin is a sin.
We can shout out our feelings towards this man, curse him and wish him the worst but doesn't that make us no better than him? In gods eyes anyways?
I'm not saying that what he did was right, at all.
Just expressing myself. Good day to all and

Go Packers!!!!

If the child that has survived what this man did to him can forgive him, than the same should go for us.......

But, in the mean time...until I know that that child still holds some kind of fear in her heart and mind, I can't forgive.

I know, that the Christian thing to do is to forgive. But, I am human.

People are not going to like my comment.

(So - what else is new) and it is definitely not PC

No one has mentioned this is a HOMOSEXUAL sex crime -- victim and criminal both males.

Homosexuals in this country are notorious in winning conviction reversals and becoming the victims themselves

Just warning ya

Don't get your hopes too high on this conviction

He should have to run the gauntlet..lined by parents of victims armed with sledge hammers and if by chance he made it thru...he gets thrown in a pit full of snakes and scorpions!
