OK. Since school has been out, I have had the pleasure of having for company the 'next generation' in the family. We swim, play with the dogs, limit electronic interaction, and camped in the land yacht. I have also had the pleasure of being the only adult around for most of the days so I MUST be the one with all the answers. If only it could be that easy. I have been asked questions about soooooo many things I can hardly sort it all out. Why is it so hot? Do we really need to do math to make a half batch of cupcakes? Why do dogs always sniff...there? What exactly do they mean by being 'green'? I tried to give them all my best shot and realized that a lot of junk got pushed into their little tape recorder minds and it was falling on to me to fix the facts. Most of you may not appreciate my sense of humor in most of my answers, but after paying this months electric bill(and having to explain what some of what I was mumbling meant), I was asked "Did we leave a big 'footprint' in the sky?" Ummm, what??? repeat "Did we make a big footprint?". All I could say at this point was. "yup, we sure did. Bigger than what the Wii cost." After a long pause, the wisdom of youth spoke up: "Maybe we should all just go barefoot for a while."

I never thought I would smile after paying bills, but out of the mouths of babes.

hi and good camping! liked tour blog. i'm still trying to figure out how to do this. been out od town. camping with the grandkids."adopted"anyway you get alot of questions and also alot in what they tell you as far as what direction they are going.i have learned alot about young folks and hopefully gave them some mentor facts that they don't learn in school.we just habg out, no tv or boombox. more like marbles in the sand. they did not know what a marble was or a log roller to knock them out of the circle. i think kids are so computorized they don't even know what a cow is lol . we saw deer and. a owl, and some redbirds . and of course the good luck bird. red cardinals. we had long talkes over the campfire everynight. bet kids in newyork city never even seen a owl. and of course ther is always the coons trying to steel your food lol.well i guess thats it for now. we had a great bonding exsperience and i think we all got alot out it it. like i said. no tv or computors or boombox! we where basicaly on our own for the week. camping on the islands is nice to. get to see alot of wildlife there on the intercoastal here in fl.till next time, be good and be all that you can be to your kids.

Thanks all. Kids do tend to help us "old folks" keep things in perspective. Another week with the computer off. School starts Monday, and I can save my energy for the shorter, weekend backyard campouts. We are waiting for the cooler weather to head back out for real. Until then, our shoes are off.
