By "they" I mean the oil companies and OPEC, who have us in the palm of their hand, and our government who pulled off the biggest "skinning" since the Pilgrims bought Manhattan Island from the Indians.
At the intersection of Oates and Gallaway in Mesquite there are three service stations on the corners -- Exxon, Shell and Phillips.
Exxon advertised $3,23 a gallon while Shell and Phillips posted prices of $3.15.
A QT station not far from them was selling gas for $2.82.
And we are supposed to believe our government which says there is no evidence of price gouging.
Just like the government had to have a trillion dollars to settle our economy down and instead saw it blossom into a world wide crisis.
Now all the foreign countries are joining the U.S. in combating the peril.
During our gas crisis prices soared to near $4 a gallon with predictions it would go as high as $8.
Not so, said some knowledgeable analysts. Big Oil is only trying to inflate its standard price.
And already today -- with prices just dipping under the $3 mark -- our media is proclaiming gas to be the biggest bargain since free air for your tires.
Notice a sore spot when you sit down?
Big Oil wins -- we lose.
Again.
And with the economy situation undergoing world wide scrutiny can anyone smell a one world monetary and banking system about to be born.
Just like the money people have been aiming for since Bush the Elder was president.
They're getting ready to do it to us again.
It's a shame Don Meredith was not around Sunday to serenade Tony Romo and the Cowboys with that song.
It would have been a hit!
Thank goodness it was the Phoenix stadium the Cowboys stunk up and not their own.
Arizona 30, Dallas 24.
Those days of Romo and T.O. frolicking on the sidelines during a game seem like years ago instead of just weeks.
Sunday they sat on either end of the bench and not a trace of a smile on either face.
The Cowboys have the talent -- make no mistake about that.
Possibly more talent than any other NFL franchise.
Jerry Jones can buy the talent by the boatload.
But he cannot buy one coach who is capable to focusing all that talent on winning football games.
And it is a cinch Bum Phillips' boy Wade is never going to be that coach.
In the meantime enjoy watching My Man Jones on the sidelines trying to put a burr under the saddles of his millionaires.
Thank goodness it is only about four and a half months till pitchers and catchers report to Surprise.
