It is my understanding that when one accepts Christ as their Savior, they become followers of Chirst and are indeed respresentives of Christ.  We are meant to live in His spirit and to be Christ-like in our actions and deeds.  As representives of Christ, we are to act in a way in which He Himself would approve and imulate His Words, Deeds and Teachings.  We are in fact to go forth as examples of His Life on Earth and to spread this example to one and all.

The way we look and act and behave should be Christ-like.  Sure, none of us are perfect and we all have to face temptations and often we are lead along the wrong path even though we may think that we are doing the right thing.  But as we go along in life, we should think of how Jesus would have responded and what He would have done in such a circumstance.  If we realize we have gone wrong, it is up to us to go to Him or go to the Father and confess what we have done.  Not only this but we should make a good attempt to do better or to be better.

Many of us get too wrapped up in the immediate focus or too interested in the wrongs that others are doing to consider that we, ourselves, may not be facing ourselves or realizing that we too may be doing wrong by getting involved in the salvation of the next guy.  It is for each of us to make up our own minds and to make our own decisions.  If someone wishes to accept Jesus as their Savior, they should do so and, if they do not, then it is for them to face the Almighty at the end of the day.

We should live in peace with each other and we should know that it is God who decides who is acceptable and who is not.  But if we show a peaceful nature and know the joy of accepting Christ is our hearts as our Savior, that should be enough to make others stop, look at us and wonder what it is that gives us that peace when they are living under the stresses of the world.  It is always easy to fall into temptation but the hard work that goes into knowing peace and living with Christ should give each one who believes great joy.  Great joy is truly a reward for a little hard work so who should complain about a little extra effort.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

That's a pretty good description, by what the Bible has to say.

Unfortunately, though, when you say "confess," most people envision a little box on a church wall, with a "man of the cloth" on the other side of a latticed port. That is certainly not the way the Book instructs us.

I must own the fact that I have broken God's Law, and come to agree with the Almighty that He would be righteous and just to deal with me in whatever way He chooses, even were He to invoke His pronouncement, "The soul that sins shall die."  Just saying, "Yeah, I did that" is not confession.

But, that real confession does not leave me hopeless, because He also says, "The broken and contrite heart will not be turned away."  God offers me His Grace - unmerrited favor - for my determination to "Go, and sin no more."  In fact, He will empower me to defeat the temptation to go back into sin if I will keep my heart focused on Him, and use the power He gives me to defeat the desire.

So now, I can be one of those "peculiar people" who others look at and ask, "What do you do for fun, now?"

I will answer, "Anything that's cle

I will answer, "Anything that's clean and wholesome and cannot be spoken negatively about."

Well put. Deeds as well as words. For fun I do what what I want when I want as long as it harms none. You folks and many others here are excellent Pagans.

Vittorio, PUH-LEEEEEZE!  I did not say, "I do what I want when I want . . ."

I said, "Anything that's clean and wholesome and cannot be spoken negatively about."

There is often a big difference.  The mind of the human can "justify" itself in almost anything.  It says "Truth is in Perception."  But, our Book says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to destruction or even death."

I've done things that I honestly didn't believe would cause any harm, and in the end learned that they cause great harm to more than one person's life.

We can only do the best we can. Clean and wholesome works for you and that's great. We MAY have different standards, but I doubt it. We do learn from our mistakes; it's our job not to repeat them.

Confession, as far as I understand, is going to God in prayer and asking forgiveness. There is great peace in being able to go to God with one's wrongs and in knowing that we are forgiven especially when we are making an effort not to repeat it. As Vit says, we do learn from our mistakes, it's our job not to repeat them.
Alot of people don't understand that and just think they can continue on the way they are going, seek forgiveness at will and just repeat the same behavior again and again. They find it easy to justify anything, as Arky says.
Once one has recognized a wrong doing and made corrections, it makes one feel better and have better self-esteem in the future.

"No matter what you say, it's your actions that speak for you."

Most do not learn from their Mistakes, and Many cover up "WRONG"...by supposedly doing 'GOOD?'

Jesus said it All... in these Verses!

(Matthew 7:20-to-23) So by their fruit you will know them."

(Mat 7:21) "Not everyone who keeps saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven.

(Mat 7:22) Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?'

(Mat 7:23) Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you evildoers!'"

Roger, most people don't want to put any effort into their lives or living a good life. They find it easier to make excuses and forget what they have done. In this way, they don't have to be responsible for themselves but just drift along. Unfortunately these people have no conscience and no thought towards the feelings of other people. They cause hurt and don't care.
What's scary is that if asked most of these people believe they have a place in heaven and that the word hell has pretty much disappeared from our vocabulary.
Pitiful.
When one lives in Christ, one doesn't have to worry about these things because when you do good and live right, nothing should be a problem.

I am in Sarasota and enjoy reading avidly, mostly about historical subjects and biographies. Also have travelled in England and Wales, visiting family and historical sights. I like a good conversation on nearly all subjects and, although I have opinions, am willing to listen to all sides of a topic. I believe in listening and learning so your opinions are always necessary to me.
