Hey ALL.....

My Dad is having open heart surgery on wed....7/16th. I would appreciate you all keeping him in your prayers. He lives in Arizona and I am flying out there on tuesday.

The interesting thing is ....his open heart surgery is being done with Robotic arms and the are not opening his chest! Crazy huh?

He has 100% occlusion of one artery and that is being bypassed and they are using Robotic arms to do it....isnt it amazing how far we have come in medicine?

Please keep my Dad in your prayers! Thanks!

Wow....I thought it was bad in Mo....I came to visit friends in Iowa....the flooding had been really bad up here. Some areas are totally devastated and closed down. At one point my friends and their area were completely blocked in by the floods and they could not get in or out! Now their homes were ok....but the roads were all flooded. Downtown was a mess....they are cleaning up now....

And I dont mean it isnt that bad in Mo. I know it is....You just dont think (or at least I dont always) about the other places unless you are there....

Anyone else gone and seen the flooding other places?

Did you see or hear about the 6yr old girl saved by the quick thinking of her Dad? He lost his life but saved hers. That is the link above to the news clip....

It is just so sad and it broke my heart. Sounds like maybe the Dad had led a rougher life before but had been straight for at least a year. They didnt even care that there was an innocent child on that porch...on his lap!

I am personally glad that Lori Drew has to deal with the consequences of what she did. I think the others involved should too....but she was the supposed "adult!"

Then the proceeded to beat her senseless while they filmed it? Something she said on myspace that they took offense to.....

You watch as 1 girl is beating on her and slapping her....then she tries to leave and another gets her at the door. Then you see more on her beating on her on the couch, while someone is taping the whole thing.

And I guess they thougt this was all ok and they would be able to post the video on youtube ....no problem....

I want to say that first of all....I firmly , 100% ...believe in them and feel everyone should have one.....BUT....

Just to let you know....unless your family....your children, your wife....those involved with making THOSE decsions FOR you...are on the same page....it may not happen!

I could tell you of several instances where there is an advanced directive (or living will) is in place....but the patient is unresponsive and cant say anything himself....and the family says....DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO....keep him/her alive.

Now sometimes its the Dr's fault in the ER....who ASKS the family member....We need to put them on a ventilator or do this to save them....do you want us to do this? Sometimes its the families coming in screaming....save them.

What I am telling you all...is MAKE sure your loved ones KNOW what you want and WILL stick to it!....B/C who will sue after the patient dies and the ER Doc hasnt done everything? Those family members..... So the Dr's listen to them.....

One more thing....living will....advance directive....it is about healthcare directives. Has NOTHING to do with who in the family gets what after you are gone! Have a great day all!

OK....hypothetically (or not....lol) lets say your loved one was in the Intensive Care unit. Do you know how many patients to nurse ratio its supposed to be? Do you know what KIND of nurses are supposed to be vs are....taking care of your loved ones?

How about 12 patients.....over half of them very sick....on ventilators, IV drips (lots of strong and powerful medications that need to be and should be watched carefully)... 5 nurses are on.

One is the charge nurse (who technically is responsible for all the patients and all the nurses....oh yeah and is part of the code team and runs to ALL the codes in the whole hospital!).....she will have 2 sick patients and is well qualified etc. Then you have 4 more nurses....3 of whom are NEW nurses. New to the ICU and actually just new nurses (they just grad. last year and went straight to the unit). And you have one other nurse who is fairly strong and good.

SO.....we need to give 3 patients to 2 of the nurses and the other 3 nurses will have 2 patients each..... How would YOU feel about leaving YOUR loved one in there? Do you KNOW enough to be afraid?

Really.....What is UP with that??? They run OVER this guy ....over a TIP jar???? They were teenagers! Seriously folks what are we coming to?

1) Why would you risk jail time for a TIP JAR? Seriously ....how much money could be in a STARBUCKS tip jar? ......

2) Now they are risking MORE than just small time jail time....they have RUN over someone and they are in critical condition....again....it was JUST  A TIP JAR!!

3) they were teenagers.....ok....I hope they will get tried as adults! This is just a sad sign of our society.

4) It was a good shot of them....doesnt anyone recognize them???? turn them in! please!

I work in the ICU....and I am CONSTANTLY amazed at the folks who bring their KIDS , little kids into the hospital to Visit other people!

HELLO>.....FOLKS.....there are LOTS of GERMS there.....besides the GERMS a 2 and 3 and 4 yr old brings on THEM! That you are passing on to the ONE you are visiting!

I am sorry....I just do NOT get it! FLU.....BAD....VRE.....MRSA.....CDIFF .....JUST to name a few of REALLY bad bad bugs that are floating around EVERY hospital and you are taking that precious child into that evironment to run their hands on things and stick in their mouths!....Little children have NO business at the hospital AT all unless THEY are sick.

Hey ....I am just wondering if anyone else is wondering....what is up with the girl who didnt get shot? OR are they at least looking at some possible involvement with her and the shooter?

I mean....you have 5 execution style shootings...in the head and all 5 dead. Then you have one not? Or did I miss something....was she shot in the head too? It didnt say she was or wasnt in the news and it didnt sound like she was in the hospital so to me...it sounded like she had not been shot.....

What do you think .....or do any of you know the answer to my thoughts here? thanks!

OK...having to do with the Ill. shootings and the girlfriend. She got a call from her boyfriend saying goodbye....dont forget me...etc....but she doesnt wonder what is going on?

What I am wondering from YOU JOHN P. is this.....one news cast orig. said she got the envelope with the goodbye letter the ammo, the weapon holder....LATER after the shootings! But this MORNING....John you said it in a way that SOUNDED like or indicated that she got that envelope BEFORE the shootings! BIG difference.....so which is it?

Because seriously if she got it BEFORE the shootings she needs to be dealt with!

That is really sad when....ONE .....you just leave your cute little boy at the Mills Mall.....

And TWO ....you are more worried about being arrested b/c of warrants than how your child is and where is he and how can you get him back?

Did you see that little boy? He is adorable! I hope she never gets him back! Hopefully he has a better chance at life without her!

How about some ideas....some stories to share ( I did a similar blog before Christmas, seems appropriate to do another now)....lets restore our humanity. Show that we are ALL loving and caring human beings. Treat others as you would want to be treated....

Do you look at what kind of neighbors you have before you buy a house.....we had one neighbor trick or treat in our neighborhood to check it out....they were great, they liked all of us and bought! And yes they are good neighbors......
