First they want to get rid of "One Nation Under God" in the Pledge what is next? If you get rid of any religious reference in the Pledge what about reglious holidays like Easter and Christmas? Both of these are filled with references to God. If you get rid of all religious references what else will be after that? Telling us what religion we should practice, when we should go to church, etc.? or do you intend to get rid of that too? The person that wants to censor the Pledge doesn't have to say that portion of the pledge if it is against their religion, but DON'T EVER TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T BELIEVE IN WHEN IT COMES TO RELIGION! I SUGGEST EVERONE LISTEN TO THE VERSION TOLD BY RED SKELETON THAT EXPLAINS WHAT EACH WORD MEANS.

In case you haven't noticed, they already have started to take Christmas away from us. We're not allowed to say "Merry Christmas" anymore. In addition, there has been controversy as to changing our currency because God is referenced on there as well. And, don't forget, prayer is no longer permitted in schools, either. Until all Americans group together and take a stand, this will continue to happen. Our government is full of wimps that, for whatever reason, feels this need to cater to these immigrants who come over and want things changed to their way and their way only.

You can thank the ACLU for everything.

It's not JUST the ACLU we can also blame the individual that started all this by saying he didn't want his kid saying that line in the Pledge that it should be taken out. Also, it's the ppl in Washington so it can't be totally blamed on the ACLU. All 50 states will end up like it was in England when many got kicked out way back when because they had idfferent religious beliefs. Either conform to our way or you got to jail and that it's right. Everyone in ALL 50 states need to take a stand and make it known that we as individuals have a right to choose our own religion and how we practice it; not the other way around where we are told what religion is "The Religion" to practice.

I agree with pretty much everything everyone said, except I don't feel prayer belongs in public schools. If a child wants to say grace before his/her meal on their own accord than no big deal. But to make every child pray in a public school is wrong. If your are Christian you'd be ok with it but what if they made your child say a prayer from the Muslim religon or from the Jewish religion? You wouldn't be so happy about that.

LIKE I STATED BEFORE IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR CHILD SAYING IT THEN THEY DON'T HAVE TO, BUT DON'T TAKE THAT RIGHT AWAY FROM THOSE THAT WANT TO SAY IT! IT IS CALLED FREEDOM OF CHOICE TO CHOOSE YOUR OWN RELIGION AND PRACTICE WHAT GOES WITH THAT RELIGION! I AM NOT TRYING TO FORCE ANYONE INTO PRACTICING ANYONE PARTICULAR RELIGION!

This became a big deal when I was in my junior year of high school in 2001. There was an annocement made that if you were not comfortable in saying the pledge then you did not have to. You did not have to put your hand over your heart, and you did not have to stand while it was being said becuase that is part of your right as an american. Some children choose to stand and cover there heart but not say the pledge. Some choose to stand and not cover their heart and not say the pledge as well, and some choose not to do anything all together. The point here is that as this country, as it is today, was founded by people that were a majority of the same religion and still is a majority that same religion the under God part of the pledge was adapted accordingly and it is part of an American tradition not a religios one. What schools need to do is inform everyone of the choice that they have, and that no one should be forced to say something that contradicts what they choose think or beleive. And most of the time, nobody is, but they need to know that.

They may wanna change the flag too. The various stripes ( I used to know what they all represented, I apologize ) represent things of a Christian nature, NOT the 13 original colonies.

Oh and Klvalen - it was the mother that was against it, but the father supports it. The father is a Christian and the mother is an atheist. The child also wanted to be a Christian, but the mother wouldn't hear of it.
