Today is a day of heart break for our family. Me personally have never been faced with such a feeling of helplessness in my life. There is not a more awful emotion a person can have. You see my ex husbands step son lives in China. He is married and his wife had a child a few weeks ago. This child was born with a very serious heart defect and was in dire need of surgery. China has no health insurance at all. It's pay as you go. The family had to take a cab 250 miles to the nearest hospital for all of tests which confirmed his defect. The tests and the cab fair drained there account. The child was scheduled for surgery and the parents were left to figure out how to get the money. They had 40% but needed it all for the hospital to proceed. My ex husband and his wife wired the rest of the money to a bank in China, and needless to say the money did not arrive. Not only did it not arrive in time but as of yet still isn't there. The child was basically thrown out of the hospital. As of last night the child's grandmother came to pick them up for the long 250 mile ride back to there home. All I can do is picture the mother of this child holding her son waiting for his last breath. Knowing that he will most likely not survive the trip home. Hopelessness. My heart aches waiting for that dreaded phone call today, and when it comes I know I will be lost in the hopelessness of a lost child.

Beware of the 0% credit card offers and the one year same as cash. Within the last few years I have found that some credit cards have a new scam. It's called a 20 day billing cycle. Which means you no longer have a once a month payment due on the same date every month. If you so happen to be late with one of these cards you will be slapped with huge interest and late fees and you no longer have 0%. I first noticed this when my husband bought me a ring from a jewely store. 12 months no interest. We figured out how much to send each month that would assure the ring would be paid off in 12 months. Six months into it I noticed the due date had changed without notice. When I called I was informed that my billing had been in error for six months and I should have been getting billed every twenty days! I was outraged! Most stores offering these 12 months do this now. One card is called GE Moneybank. Jewelers, HHGregg and the like use this company. I also checked into some others that I find do the same thing. Main stream cards like Sears Mastercard, and Fifth Third. Beware of this new card policy. If caught off gaurd it can cost you a lot of money!

Did anyone else see the news last night concerning the abuses of the Cleveland city hospitals and ambulances? This is a prime example why I am so outraged about government moochers. Who the heck calls for an ambulance because they have (hymoroids)? Everytime one of these people call for an ambulance for something ridiculous it costs the tax payers well over a thousand dollars, and there's thousands of them doing it. Not to mention the fact that someone who actually needs an ambulance and needs to go to the hospital can sit and wait. This is one of the many reasons our health care costs are out of control. These people should be ashamed. That one woman had no pride what so ever telling everyone that she left the hospital after waiting too long to go home and call an ambulance for something ridiculous only to get there again and wait again! People are treated by emergency status. Not first come first serve. Our hospitals are over run with moochers who clog up our health care systems with BS.  I personally am not interested in paying for an ambulance ride and a hospital bill because some moocher has wax build up in there hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thruout my life time I have been around many types of people. I've been a bartender, a factory worker, a house keeper, waitress and most importantly a mother. I have never really had any problems with anyone ( except my kids LOL) I think being respectful is one of the most important traits a person can have.  Being a woman I have always been respectful and I've always acted like a lady in my places of employment.  I'm not saying that I used being a woman as an excuse not to do my job. I'm saying that I behaved like a lady. The worst thing I've seen is woman who do not act like ladies and especially speak like a sailor. I personally think that's disgusting. But that's just me. I have worked with men and women and most races as well. Again I've never had any problems in that area either. I'm not saying that I've not run across rude people or disrespectful people because I have. But I found thru lifes experiences that if I remained respectful to these people they eventually became respectful to me. My point is being respectful at all times almost always brings respect in return. Sometimes it takes a little more work but it does work. You can never controll anyone else behavior but you can always control your own.

Today was my first day on my new job. I was hired last Thursday to start on Monday. This weekend my daughter told me of a horrible accident that had killed her fiance's parents neighbor. The poor man was killed by an alleged drunk driver on the way home from work. His job being a police officer. He was a husband and a father of three. I was very sad for his family, and just thought to myself "another life lost because of an idiot."  Well the purpose of this story was because when I started my new job today everyone was talking about the employee who worked there who  had been in a horrible accident and who was in intensive care.  The more I heard them talk the more I realized that this employee was the same person who was involved and who had killed this man my daughter had told me about earlier. I could not believe how close this whole awful tragedgy was to me from both sides.  I was not involved but  seemed to land right in the middle of it.  How sad that this young man that seemed to have everything going his way made a continuing mistake that took a life and if he survives, it will have  changed his life forever. This was to close for comfort and it just made me realize:  Wow it is a small world.

There are so many divisions in our country. I'm not sure if it's me but it seems that the biggest problem is the insistence on these divisions at times with out any common sense. Take politics. Democrat or Republican? Why does that have to matter? I know I live under the false pretense that these groups both are out to do what's best for the American People. Really? Are they really out for us or themselves? Or the huge problem of the division of the races. This certainly has not faded over the last 60 years. Lately it seems to be escalating. All the races seem to be up in arms. Not to say that some is not worthy of being upset. But again I think it's out of control now. I think of Women lib. Who started out as a nessesity but has in some instances went over the line as well. All these types of groups. All nessesary at the beginning but all have taken these good things and have turned them into a farce. Once the important things have been achieved there seems to be a time when common sense goes out the window. Everyone wants more and more until the real problems occure. For most equality and freedom for all is what most want. But when the line is crossed and the special interests start rearing there ugly heads and things in my opinion become truly unfair and not right anymore is when the real problems happen. People are not blind to these occurences happening. Why is it that when something good has been achieved there always has to be the ones who insist on more and more to the point of unfairness to anyone?  There are many other specialty groups I have missed I'm sure. Another one that comes to minds are the Unions. I'm sure the list is long.  But until these groups stop making themselves separate, and they all become all for one and one for all so to speak our country will always be divided.

Well I have to say I have never heard of anything so disrespectful in my life!!!!!!!! How dare a CHURCH protest a soldier's funeral. Those members aught to be ashamed of themselves. Here's a wonderfully embarrasing bit of freedom of speech. Just because you can and have the right to doesn't mean you should. No sense what so ever! I am extremely disturbed over this. Gee what a lack of respect for the dead and the family members. Shame shame on these people.

Does teen shootings seem to be almost an every day thing anymore? It sure does to me.  What's going on? Are these children that out of control? Or are the police dept.'s going crazy?  I personally think these kids are really out of control. You have a boy jumping out of a closet trying to stab the police. A young boy driving around in a stolen car with drugs and a 45!  I'm sure to lose a child by this means would be totally tramatizing to the parent , however I can't see how all these law suits are coming about. These children are not model citizens of the community. They have long histories with the law. How can these parents act like there children were not commiting any crimes? Or that these children were not deeply in trouble long before there tragic deaths? As I said I do feel for these parents and these children, but don't act like you were not aware of what way these children were heading.  I've seen these trageties on the news before and I've seen them interview a heart broken mother who knew what her child was and admitted that he was. How she tried to do all she could to no availe. That woman I had total remorse and saddness in my heart for her. But these parents that get on TV and threaten to sue and deny any wrong doings by there childen when somthing awful happens makes me very angry. What are these police officers supposed to do?

After the past week of devastation all around me. I found myself this morning thinking of how I need to be more thankful for the life I have. I think of those children that died in the bus crash, and the children that died in the tornados. How devastating for those parents. I need to be more thankful. All my children are healthy, happy, and alive. The awful tornados that not only took childrens lives but homes as well. All that these people owned  gone. I need to be more thankful. I have a home that has never been touched by devastation. The financial burdens of the market crash that brought some a huge financial loss. I need to be more thankful. For even though I am not rich. I have always been able to take care of my responsibilities.  The people who have been in a battle or lost a battle concerning there health. I need to be more thankful. I still have mine. For the people who are alone in this world. I need to be more thankful. For I have family and friends who love me. I NEED TO BE MORE THANKFUL.

I can't believe the stock market crashed today. Honestly I have the worst luck in the world.  In 1997 I invested in Mutual Funds out of the country including China. The very next day there market crashed! It took about three years to recoup my money. So I sold the Funds and invested in the American stock market. With in six months 911 happened and the stock market crashed again. So two weeks ago I thought I'd give it a try once again. Well can you believe it. Crashed again!  I think someone is trying to tell me something!

Well I'm not sure If I spelled that right or not. But anyway. I was thinking about this this morning. Why do some people feel it's not ok to scensor younger children. I was reading some of the blogs and it got me thinking. I saw on the news concerning the girl in 7th grade that was reading a book that the school picked out. They felt  the book was appropriate for these age groups. The book was full of swearing including the F bomb. I know libraries do not scenscor the books in any age group. I know when my oldest daughter was in the fourth grade she had to pick a book for school too. In this book I found it talked about masterbation!!!! The library said it wasn't up to them concerning the material. It was up to the parents. Which is fine, but I'm not familiar with the materials in these books. I would think the librarians would be.  PG 13 has some nudity in them, and a whole lot of swear words. I just don't understand why some parents feel there children are able to handle all this kind of stuff at such a young age. There are some adults that can't handle this kind of stuff. They don't always make the right descisions. So why do some people feel there children can handle things, and make the right descisions based simply on the fact that they are THERE children? Why should young children be subject to certain unappropriate things just because they can?

After watching the presidential address, and the Democratic remarks after, All I can say is OH MY GOD! Does anyone realize what just happened. Our government publicy allowed the whole world to know that we are a country greatly divided!!! I have never seen anything so ridiculous in my life! Our enemies saw first hand on national t.v. the war that's brewing in our own land! We have just had a HUGE target placed upon our backs for all our enemies to see. I'm sure they are laughing at this moment for they are truly accomplishing what they've set out to do. Divide and conquer. I can't believe the tremendous divide Mr. Webb displayed for all the world to see! Nothing like airing your dirty laundry in public. I'm not upset if there is a dissagreement but if he thought he just put a plug in for the new takeover for the Democratic party I have to strongly dissagree. I believe he just showed our weakness to the world. A nation divided will surely fall.

Everytime I see the news concerning this man. I get extremely angry. He was convicted of lying, hiding his ties with terrorist, and deported. Why is there any concern where he ended up? He was convicted by our court system with rights he obtained illegally, and by rights he should have never received. I don't understand why we had to be concerned with what nation would take him, or the fact that he mysteriously ended up in prison in Isreal. Once convicted wasn't he considered a prisoner of war? Why did we turn him loose so he could have the chance to do something else. I know people change but I'm not sure with these types of convictions that he would have been apt to change. I'm also upset that his family is still here. I don't know all the details concerning them, But if I'm not mistaken they are receiving assistance from our government. That is totally perposterous! And I'm sorry, I do not want to except the fact if any of these children were born here they are considered American citizens. That's usually the plan isn't it? Have as many illegal children here as possible. So the government you abhore will pay for them. Sorry, once convicted you and your illegal family have no claims to the American constitution.

First let me say that this blog is intented for two income families. Is it possible to live on one income today? I say yes it is. I am also not refering to incomes over say $70,000.00 per year either. I am a parent of five children. My husband and I definatly qualify for the under 70K also. I have for the most part been a stay at home mom. It certainly has been difficult financially thru out the years but we have managed. If you are willing to sacrafice to be home with your children it is possible. Our first house we bought was a pit. Very structurally sound but a disaster. Hells Angels had rented it before we bought it! We sold everyhing we had to buy this house. We moved in with barely any furniture, and had to buy a mis matched stove and fridge. We had two used cars at the time also. For eight years we fixed up the house. If you claim 0 on your taxes all year you can get quite a bit back if you have deductions. We would use that for the big fixes. We learned how to paint, sand, patch, wallpaper etc. ourselves. Way more cost efficient. In eight years we sold our home for double. We bought another fixer upper and again have doubled our money. My husband works very hard, and works over alot. Thru out the years if needed I would get a part time job to help out. But it was when my husband was home to be with the children. We have always had food, nice cloths, and all the essentials in life. Even some non essentials. If we couldn't get something we wanted right away we'd watch the sale adds until we can buy it, and we save a little at a time until we can pay for it. Are we in debt? Of course. Isn't just about everyone? But we could pay our house payment working at McDonalds if we had to! So you see if there's a will there's a way. We decided if we chose to have our children then WE chose to take care of them also. Has it been easy? NO. Has it been worth it? You betcha!

Can outside social influences effect a persons behavior? I believe it can and does. People are constantly being effected by outside factors depending on their mood. Music is a great example of this. Music can make you happy, sad, mad, or depressed all depending on your state of mind at the time. T.V. is another example. Why do very few people not get shocked at seeing for example a Victoria Secret Model on t.v. posing very provacatively in nothing but a bra and panties? Or shows that have sex scenes that basically leave nothing to the imagination? PG 14 movies now allow some partial nudity and allow some swear words. Or what about movies? Does it really not effect someone to watch a slasher movie where the human body is tortured, murdered, and dismembered? The gorier the better. People have become so immuned to all this that it takes more and more to actually shock them. Years ago most people would have been shocked, and embarrased, and probably would have dropped dead of a heart attack. Not today. That's how far society has come. Where will go from here?

I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years. Between the two of us we have five children. Ages 17 thru 26. I enjoy gardening, yard work and taking care of my grandson. My most favorite activity when I have time is to sit by our little pond with my coffee watching our fish.
