Today is a day of heart break for our family. Me personally have never been faced with such a feeling of helplessness in my life. There is not a more awful emotion a person can have. You see my ex husbands step son lives in China. He is married and his wife had a child a few weeks ago. This child was born with a very serious heart defect and was in dire need of surgery. China has no health insurance at all. It's pay as you go. The family had to take a cab 250 miles to the nearest hospital for all of tests which confirmed his defect. The tests and the cab fair drained there account. The child was scheduled for surgery and the parents were left to figure out how to get the money. They had 40% but needed it all for the hospital to proceed. My ex husband and his wife wired the rest of the money to a bank in China, and needless to say the money did not arrive. Not only did it not arrive in time but as of yet still isn't there. The child was basically thrown out of the hospital. As of last night the child's grandmother came to pick them up for the long 250 mile ride back to there home. All I can do is picture the mother of this child holding her son waiting for his last breath. Knowing that he will most likely not survive the trip home. Hopelessness. My heart aches waiting for that dreaded phone call today, and when it comes I know I will be lost in the hopelessness of a lost child.

so sorry klh
I hate to see any child suffer, and ANY doctor, no matter what nationality is suppose to have a first priority to SAVE LIFE!!!
our world is in such a shambles where money is involved
my prayers are with you and your family but especially for the poor innocent baby!

klh, I'm feeling for you and I know this pain... I held my daughter while they told me she wasn't going to live, she was 4 1/2 and there's wasn't much they could do. But, to go through this knowing that it's all about $ is the biggest heartache of all.

I'm deeply sorry to hear this.

Klh, I am distressed to hear about this tragedy. We send doctors around the world to alleviate the suffering of others and there is no compassion in China. Did they seek help from the U.S. embassy ? Does Doctors Without Borders operate in China ? You have my` prayers and heartfelt sympathy.
GOD BLESS YOU, AND YOUR` FAMILY !

Thanks guys, she's much better now... sometimes doctors under estimate a person's will to live.

I hope there's help or a way to get help for klh's family, it's heartbreaking to say the least.

I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years. Between the two of us we have five children. Ages 17 thru 26. I enjoy gardening, yard work and taking care of my grandson. My most favorite activity when I have time is to sit by our little pond with my coffee watching our fish.
