Thruout my life time I have been around many types of people. I've been a bartender, a factory worker, a house keeper, waitress and most importantly a mother. I have never really had any problems with anyone ( except my kids LOL) I think being respectful is one of the most important traits a person can have.  Being a woman I have always been respectful and I've always acted like a lady in my places of employment.  I'm not saying that I used being a woman as an excuse not to do my job. I'm saying that I behaved like a lady. The worst thing I've seen is woman who do not act like ladies and especially speak like a sailor. I personally think that's disgusting. But that's just me. I have worked with men and women and most races as well. Again I've never had any problems in that area either. I'm not saying that I've not run across rude people or disrespectful people because I have. But I found thru lifes experiences that if I remained respectful to these people they eventually became respectful to me. My point is being respectful at all times almost always brings respect in return. Sometimes it takes a little more work but it does work. You can never controll anyone else behavior but you can always control your own.

Exactly KLH respect has to be earned! And i agree 100% that women with the dirty mouths, that is not attactive or appropriate, it makes me sick to hear anyone swearing like a sailor but when women do it it sounds 100 times worst. And something else that bothers me is young men that don't give women respect i was visiting cleveland the other day and i was in a grocery store and there was a group of teenagers just swearing and talking inappropriately, this is a public place i had my daughter with me and nowadays i'm scared to say anything to these kids what if they felt like i shouldn't be telling them how to talk so i just walked away but the way they were speaking it was disgusting!

I agree with you both. It saddens me to see that people act with such disrespect. I always tell my kids that you have to respect yourself first by acting in a respectable manner. Many times I've heard teens be disrespectful to there parents, and there parents just let them get away with it, but not me. When my 19 year old and 17 year old try me. I nip it in the bud. You have to or they will continue. On several occassions when I hear teens speaking or acting disrespectful I will pull them off to the side and speak with them about it. so far I've had pretty good sucess. I ask them in a calm voice if they think there behavior is respectful? and inform them that someone is always watching the way you behave. The adults are a different story. However, I believe that I can set a good example by being a respectable, and responsible man.

I TOTALLY agree with you! The people of today don't have the respect that WE had for others even as little as 20 or 30 years ago. It's sad to lose something that's SO nice to have and so important also. I taught my sons to have respect just as my parents taught me. And I am SOOO glad that even to this day they, at ages 21 & 28, still show that respect openly to others. People need to realize when their children do NOT show respect, it is a reflection of NEGLECT on their part that they didn't take the time to teach their children!

I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years. Between the two of us we have five children. Ages 17 thru 26. I enjoy gardening, yard work and taking care of my grandson. My most favorite activity when I have time is to sit by our little pond with my coffee watching our fish.
