Today was my first day on my new job. I was hired last Thursday to start on Monday. This weekend my daughter told me of a horrible accident that had killed her fiance's parents neighbor. The poor man was killed by an alleged drunk driver on the way home from work. His job being a police officer. He was a husband and a father of three. I was very sad for his family, and just thought to myself "another life lost because of an idiot."  Well the purpose of this story was because when I started my new job today everyone was talking about the employee who worked there who  had been in a horrible accident and who was in intensive care.  The more I heard them talk the more I realized that this employee was the same person who was involved and who had killed this man my daughter had told me about earlier. I could not believe how close this whole awful tragedgy was to me from both sides.  I was not involved but  seemed to land right in the middle of it.  How sad that this young man that seemed to have everything going his way made a continuing mistake that took a life and if he survives, it will have  changed his life forever. This was to close for comfort and it just made me realize:  Wow it is a small world.

First, let me say congratulations on your job!!

What a sad story. When are people going to realize drinking and driving do not mix. So many lives have been affected by his actions. If this person does make it, he is probably going to wish he hadn't. How many more lives have to be taken before people wake up.

Good luck on your new job. That is a very tragic story indeed. There are so many more just like it. My heart goes out to the family. My daughter-in-law, her cousin was on her way home from picking up her two babies from the sitter on her way home from work. She was hit head-on by a drunk driver and killed instantly. The babies were hurt bad and lifeflighted. They fortunately recovered from their injuries but not from loosing their mom. Fortunately mom had the babies in carseats or they would have been ejected. How ironic the situation because mom had just left the kids dad because he was a drunk. She just got a new job and was doing good on her own. This guy her hit and killed her spent a grand total of 10 days behind bars. I hope the one who killed this man spends more than 10 days behind bars.

I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years. Between the two of us we have five children. Ages 18 thru 26. I enjoy gardening, yard work and taking care of my grandson. My most favorite activity when I have time is to sit by our little pond with my coffee watching our fish.
