Not sure if it’s because I’m off work right now and able to watch T.V. more-but I seem to notice more women wearing glasses? Are glasses a new “fashion” statement of sorts?

I wear the bi-focal contacts during the day at work, but as soon as I get home, the contacts come off and glasses go on!! I see a little better through my glasses for some reason--but I have a very, very outdated glasses frame AND the lenses are super thick-coca cola bottle thick LOL!

I can remember the name calling because of having such thick lenses in my glasses--4 eyes etc. So-there was a time when glasses weren’t “cool”!

So how ‘bout you? Do you wear contacts, glasses, both or neither. Do you see glasses as a “fashion statement” in this era? OR-have you had some type of vision correction surgery? If so-I’d LOVE to hear from you!! I’ve heard too many “bad” stories about the vision surgeries-I need to hear some GOOD stories LOL!

I wear my glasses. Consider contacts from time to time, but I'm so squeamish about putting something in my eye ON PURPOSE I just can't do it.
My younger sister wore contacts for a while, but she said that they were too much of a hassle..and she had the long wearing disposable ones!!
If I had the money, I'd go for the surgery. My mom had it 11 years ago when she was 52, and now is just in reading glasses. And she wore glasses since she was very young!!

I wear glasses. I'm about to have to get reading glasses (I don't think I could do bifocals with my balance issues). I tried contacts but I kept scratching my cornea (I had to get gas permeables ones because of astigmatism). I don't think I could do the surgery and I've heard about the dangers of LASIK surgery.

glasses. i can't put anything in my eye on purpose and i don't trust a laser or scalpel near my eye. my rationale: my glasses act as a splash guard at work ;-)

Have done the glasses & contacts! I did the surgery back in February... and have absolutly no regrets! I see better at night...colors are more vibrant... PLUS I can have at least 10-15 yrs w/o having to make an eye appointment! Havent had any drying but I do have to wear sun glasses outside!

I don't wear glasses or contacts but I see so many cute frames. If my vision did need correction I would probably enjoy buying a million and one pair of glasses. I know they're expensive but there are just so many fashionable frames. AND I think glasses make you look smart!

I never in a million years thought the "cat eyed" plastic frames wold be back in style LOL! I still have my old ones from the 70's LOL.

You're right Damali-they are very expensive!

Madnyte-were at the point of wearing bifocal glasses though? I thought if you're at that phase then the only thing they can do surgically is make 1 eye for up close and 1 eye for far away. That would make me feel very "lopsided" LOL!

I see through my glasses so much better (normally), but they're just so dang thick. Vanity??? YOU betcha LOL!!!
