I'm just wondering how our family and friends here in Bloggersville are doing?  Did your home survive Hurricane Ike?  Did you have major damage to your home?  I pray all is well with each of you!!

Other than a few limbs and a brother in law who about pooped his pants we came out great! He was sound asleep and the chimmney cap came off and fell on the metal roof! He thought the chimmney had fallen on him! The lights flickered one time but I was ready with a big generator capable of running everything except the house A/C.

My apartment is fine..lost some shingles, and we need a new doorsweep as water got in under the door, but thats it. We even got power back at 4:30pm today!
My X's house in Alvin, believe it or not, is fine. We were worried about it cos the land has some huge oak trees on it--trunks so big you can't put your arms around it--but nothing was damaged. His old tin barn is even still standing..but the old rickety shed was flattened.
My mom and dad's house, didn't lose a shingle, the fence was knocked loose but Daddy and Tony spent about an hour hammering pickets back in there and everything is fine. However, power poles were knocked down and it will be a while before they get power back.
My sisters house, however, got hit the worst. Their perimeter fence is flat out gone. They lost a lot of shingles, and part of the roof over my niece's room. Her walls are heavy with water and water was pouring in thru her ceiling fan. Part of their chimney was blown off and ended up down the street--Andy found it and it's now in their driveway. And they got power back yesterday.
So, once I restock the fridge, life will be as close to normal as it can get. I start back to work tomorrow, and still have a full tank of gas, but might top off just to be safe.

God has truly blessed us. It could have been so, so much worse!!

Glad yawl are okay!! I can't complain considering the folks in Galveston-but our chimney is gone, fence is down, water damage inside my home but only about 12 inches away from the windows and the fence is GONE!! Found out our home owners insurance has a $2000.00 deductible--after evacuating-we don't have that kind of money stashed away LOL! But-we STILL have a home to come home to!!

I am a mom of 3, grandmom of 2, married for 29yrs and I am a Tx. "transplant" originally from Alabama. I am the administrative assistant to the MAYOR of Bloggersville, RandyThib!! I work for a physician which NOW takes up most of my days-so sad LOL! I'm not into blogging about politics--Ken keeps up with that information for me LOL! I LOVE talking about family, household tips, makeup/hair tips, and GOD! Other than that, I may RESPOND to your blog, but haven't posted alot much lately!! I miss blogging all the time with my blogging friends and family. I LOVE getting emails from yawl though-keep 'em coming!! I think FOX26 has the best news "family" around-and yes to most of us they are just that "FAMILY"! Keep up the great work FOX-and can't wait to see more and more positive changes for the station (as long as nobody leaves-your bloggers will stay happy LOL!)
