Has John McCain really got a winning ticket with Sarah Palin?  I don't think so!  I believe it's a little, too late.  Sure, John shocked the nation Friday with his pick for VP, and I'm sure Sarah brings a lot to the table, but not enough, in my opinion to beat the socks off the Democrats this year.  I believe this IS the year for CHANGE with Obama and Biden.  Eight years of the Bush (Republican) regime are enough!  This country and our country's image are in sad shape, IMO.  What are your thoughts?  I'd be interested in hearing all comments, good and bad either for the Republicans or for the Democrats.

I think it is going to be another year of a very close race.

I'm very pleased to hear your responses. I, on the other hand, however, believe this country IS in bad shape. I think it's going to be a very interesting election and I'm eager to see how it all plays out. But there is no way I believe McCain just won the election.

I believe Mr. McCain showed great political intelligence in his choice of Vice-Presidential nominee. Mrs. Palin brings a lot to the table.
I know that there are a lot of Mrs. Clinton supporters who were on the fence. For whatever reason they were voting for Mrs. Clinton they will have more to choose from now. I know a lot of independents who were voting for Mrs. Clinton were swinging towards Mr. McCain and I know that a lot of the democrats who were supporting her were swinging towards Mr. Obama because they are democrats. But I think a lot of the hard nosed no nonsense attitude that they saw in Mrs. Clinton may be visible in Mrs. Palin and that might draw some votes. So... all in all its making out to be a close race.

On the personal side I know that I'm comfortable in the thought of Mr. McCain being president and if something were to happen to him I would be comfortable with Mrs. Palin taking over. I do not in any way, shape or form feel even remotely comfortable in Mr. Obama being President. If he should win the election I shall have to really look into Mr. Biden's history to see how he shapes up. Right now, I've already made my decision so Mr. Biden doesn't' matter.

If something happens to McCain, I'm sure Sarah Palin would know how to pick the right people to help her.

She made a big difference in Alaska. She is admired because of her getting rid of so much corruption. WE NEED HER IN WASHINGTON DC.

I heard that Biden has a son that is a lawyer and gets lots of money lobbying his father.

McCain is very old for a president..... If he dies in office then my question is could she run this country..........

Well let's see.....maybe I shouldn't get out of bed tomorrow morning because I'm liable to trip on something and kill myself. Maybe I shouldn't cross the street because someone in a car might run me over. Maybe I shouldn't take that flight this week because the plane will crash.

In spite of all the risks that day to day life entails, I feel a much greater sense of security should Sarah Palin have to take the reins. Her opponent "Plugs and Plagerism" on the other hand has 30 years of experience. Unfortunately its been wrong in every case.

News for those that think the country is not in bad shape.....GOOGLE it! We are in turmoil over many things and yes those candidates are promising to fix "those" things. Did ya happen to notice that the economy sorta sucks now?

Oh yeah, that's what they all did four years ago and even eight years ago and look what happened. Heck, isn't this SOP for any candidate for POTUS?

Liars...they are all lying through their teeth. I hate their advertisements that are all negative and most don't brag about their own accomplishments - they have none.

Her 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant. That tells me more about Sarah Palin the "great mother" more than anything. Not that her daughter is pregnant ("but for the grace of God go I" as the saying goes) but that she would knowingly and willingly let her daughter go through this under an international spotlight. That is sickening.

Right moves, I don't know where you live, but the United States where I live is in sad shape!

From some of the republicans I know "McCain screwed up when he selected her" that is a direct quote.

'Go through this' (?) This what, its a baby, and you don't know that she didin't talk it over with her first.
What's sickening, that she's 17, not married, or that she didn't just get an abortion, without parental knowledge or permission.
At least she's not living with another woman or killing her baby.
And you blame the mother on what premise? She didn't lock the kid up. As governor I'm sure she could have produced a marriage license dated last year if she wanted to, I'd bet it's been done before. But that's not her is it?
Laady freaking da, her 17 yr. old is pregnant.

Wow...danbetty - why don't you just make my arguments for me - it's a lot easier to knock them down, isn't it, when you just make things up?

No, what's sickening is that Sarah Palin is dragging her daughter through a personal crisis satisfy her political ambition.

For those of you who are for McCain, a continuation of the Bush regime, I suppose you think there is nothing wrong with companies closing and downsizing, the price of gas at the pump, the price of groceries and on and on. All I can say is, ENOUGH! Like a fool I voted for Bush - TWICE. Man, WHERE was my head? Never again!!!

On a continuation of my last posting, we need to get the United States admired again as a country. We are a disgrace currently. We are no longer admired and thought of as great as we once were prior to the Bush administration taking over. We as a country need to do something (like Obama and Biden) to strengthen our ties with all of our foreign assets.

kathy - most of the country agrees with you. I think the "wrong track" number is something like 80% (80% of Americans think the country is on the wrong track). The remaining 20% had trouble breathing because of all the sand they were breathing in.

I am amazed at how stupid the conversations are now. Palin will exceed expectations. Wise pick by Mr. McCain. Palin's experience exceeds Obama's (No brainer) Yes Palin's daughter is pregnant...so what. This family does not kill their babies, they take responsibility! This should be the story, not that she is pregnant.

Of course everyone thinks we are on the wrong track....they have been told this over and over again by the liberal media/Democrats. I do not give a rats rear-end what the liberals tell me, because they are idiots.

Recession put on hold again: 3.3% growth in last quarter. Darn the luck!!

Zogby Poll: McCain Palin 47%
Obama Biden 45%

Question: Why did the Communist Party USA endorse Obama??? I have yet to receive a good answer!!

WebsterGroves, I am not voting for McCain, but I don't think the fact that Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant really means anything. It just isn't that big of a deal anymore. She isn't dragging her daughter through anything, because people just don't see that as the issue it would have been even 20 years ago. Do we all hope it doesn't happen to us? Of course, but if it does so what. Unfortunately that is the way it is these days, girls get pregnant, some as early as 12 or younger - 17 is old!

Palin's experience exceeds Obama's

No, jimbob, it doesn't. The PTA, mayor of a village of 5500 and then governor of a state smaller that the city of Ft Worth is NOT more experience than 7 years in the state senate and 4 years as Senator, being on the Senate Foreign Relations committee and aiding in national legislation.

Question: Why did the Communist Party USA endorse Obama??? I have yet to receive a good answer!!

Maybe for the same reason that the KKK endorses John McCain? Maybe because when there are only 2 parties whack extremists don't really have anywhere to go. Trying to define a candidate by which whackiest fringe group supports them is meaningless (Unless you want to argue that all McCain supporters are pro-KKK?).

dwheeler - She is dragging her daughter through the national spotlight during a personal crisis. I find that repulsive. I think it matters, also, because she and McCain are both "abstinence only" proponents, which is woefully and dangerously ineffective.

And, Webster? Aren't you pro-choice? Even an ineffective choice isn't as 'dangerous' as an abortion.

Obama said to leave his children out of it, he said to leave Palin's children out of it. The children are not an issue. So all those who love and respect Obama why can't you respect what he ask you to do? Or are you more against McCain/Palin than for Obama/Biden? You really don't support Obama you just want to be anti the other side.
