There IS a difference between being brave and having sense.  These people who are staying behind in their homes and going to ride it out because they've lived in their houses for five generations or something like that, I say, "Who cares?!"  There's such a thing as having the good common sense to LEAVE -- while they can.  These will be the same people who will have to be rescued off their rooftops.  You just wait and see!  Stupid people, in my opinion.

As an afterthought, these senseless people will not only risk their lives, but also they will put the people who will attempt to rescue them at risk. Some people just don't use their heads!

rosie, FIRST to go is one thing -- LAST to go (holding out for no sensible reason) is an entirely different scenario.

I have never understood what posesses people to want to live in a river bottom or flood plain to begin with. We have bottom ground on the Bourbuese. It's just fields. There's no way we would live down there. It's just dumb. Yeah it may be pretty walking out your back door and there is the river so serene, but it makes no sense at times like this. The Bourbuese goes out here every year.

I don't understand why anybody would just sit and watch water rise and rise around their house and they want to continue staying there. If they became seriously ill, that would put them in a pretty bad position. I know they probably stocked up on supplies, however, who knows how long they would be stuck there. It doesn't make any sense to me. I know some people don't have any place to go but, people this is your life that's at stake. Check into a hotel or maybe you can talk to the boss and let you hold up at your place of employment depending on where and what type of work that you do. Try whatever it takes to be safe.

I think the main thing is people don't think it will happen TO THEM. Safety first, in my opinion.

Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in Oakville with my puppy, Kahlua. I work out of my house. I start my day watching Fox 2 -- it's the BEST local coverage, with the BEST TV anchors -- bar none! (Click on my photos to see my baby, Kahlua.)
