How many people have a webcam?  I'm in the process of buying one now.  Is there anything I should know before I buy one?  Hints, tips, etc.

How about a microphone?  Is there one that's any better than others or are they all about the same?  What should I be looking for with a microphone?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I don't need or want one......
People don't need to see me in my underwear.....
Nor do they need to see me when I throw one of my tantrums......

Ya know, I don't have one either, but my son leaves in May for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He will be there 8 years. I think I might like one so I can see him occasionally : )

Good idea, oldasthesuperbowl. I'm planning on going to Best Buy and purchasing the one for $80. I did a print-out on it, but don't have it at my fingertips currently to relay the brand to you.

BTW oldasthesuperbowl, your son will have to have one in order for you to see him. If you have one, he can see you, etc.

Hey oldasthesuperbowl, I just bought one today at Best Buy. On line it would have been $79.99, but in-store it was on sale for $49.99. GREAT, clear picture -- 1.3 megapixels. It's a Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000. Check it out.

oldasthesuperbowl, webcams come with built-in microphones, which I did not know. Also, just because you hook it up to your computer doesn't mean that you have to have it "on" at all times.

Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in Oakville with my puppy, Kahlua. I work out of my house. I start my day watching Fox 2 -- it's the BEST local coverage, with the BEST TV anchors -- bar none! (Click on my photos to see my baby, Kahlua.)
