AARP Cards

I need your assistance.  I have an AARP card, but I don't use it for anything.  I'm wondering whether to continue with it.  I believe somewhere along the way someone told me they used it to purchase things at Walgreen's.  Besides travel discounts, is there anything, any where that I can get discounts on with my AARP card?  I'm just not sure of the need for it.  Plus, I NEVER read the AARP bulletins/magazines.  Any body out there have any news, opinions on this?

My friend had one. He never used it either. I eventually told him to cancel his membership, because it made no since to me for him to have it if he didn't use it. My advice is to get rid of it. If you haven't used it by now do you really need it?

I agree with cuteypops,if you not using it then why pay every month for something just not being used...Get rid of it fast!

It's a ripoff.... Iv'e been 50 for 3 years and I have never given them a penny.....

A year ago when turned 50 was inundated with AARP's propoganda. Did not join, since the "benefits" seemed trivial and not worth membership fees.

crickyann, the membership is only $12.50 per year. But I swear, it's not even worth that! I've joined on and off since I turned 50, but NEVER used the card for anything. Plus, I don't read the AARP bulletins, etc. Just a waste of time and money. And from what I've read when I was searching for health insurance, there's is not much.

They have great insurance plans and you can get credit cards through them at a lower rate of interest than regular cards, need to check into those two things.
