What's the best way to beat the heat this July?  Is global warming getting out of hand or what?  Last year was really bad and so far it looks like this summer is going to be the same, if not worse.

Personally, I like to open up the louvers on my Santa Monica apartment, grab an ice cold beverage from the Regal Beagle, and head down to the beach with my roomies.

How about you?

Difference from last years July heatwave to this years was the humidity. Last year we had a monsoonal moisture surge. This was like 117 degrees in areas of the Inland Empire with upper 70 dewpoints.
This heatwave was dry, with no real humidity to make it so bad. Santa Monica heat isn't as bad as the Inland Empire where I am. Got to 110 out here. Maybe a bit cooler tomorrow, and then the onshore flow with troughing, deeper marine layer as we lose the high pressure aloft will be the story over the weekend on. I am forecast the return of the monsoonal moisture soon, and yup, finally should start!
To beat the heat, I just stay inside, but an ice pack around my neck, where the nerves are to my brain, and let the brain tell me it's not hot. It works.

106 at 9:00 here last night. We try to sort of go by after 105 who cares? The car shows were torture last year.

I like riding on the boardwalk on my bike. Problem is, if some women walk by wearing short shorts, I'll turn to look at them, and drive right off the path and onto the sand.

I love it. I was born very close actually Culver City Hospital. When my hubby and our best friend's head out of town we hit Venice Beach during the week and Johnnie's Pastrami on the way home with 1 to go. Can you remember when Marina Del Rey was actually Venice?

Love the heat wave, it makes so many hot college girls at the beach wear very creative outfits to fight the heat
