Just when you think it can't get any worse, another media outlet has stooped to one of the lowest forms of sensationalism I have ever witnessed in the print media. Simply to aid their agenda...And, they may be rewarded for it?..Disgraceful.....
Time Warp: Magazine Award Finalist for Offensive Iwo Jima Cover
Magazine editors honor global warming image that angered veterans.

How
do you get nominated for a magazine award? Do something that offends
almost everyone and tears down an American icon at the same time. Even
better, claim you were just trying to get “attention.”
That’s
certainly the strategy Time magazine deployed and they are seeing the
benefits. Time’s persistent global warming hype led it to run a cover
photo of the Marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima – only the magazine deleted the flag and replaced it with a tree. The cover read: “How To Win The War On Global Warming.”
The cover, skewered by veterans, critics and even the National Press
Photographers Association, was just nominated for an award from the
American Society of Magazine Editors. Time was even picked as a 2008 Best Cover Concept Finalist for the design – competing with The New Yorker, Wired and Vanity Fair.
The controversy began with the April 28 issue when Time doctored the famous Iwo Jima photograph by Joe Rosenthal of the Marines raising the American flag. The cover story by Bryan Walsh called green “the new red, white and blue.”
Veterans were outraged. Donald Mates, an Iwo Jima
veteran, told the Business & Media Institute on April 17 that using
that photograph for that cause was “an absolute disgrace.” “Whoever did
it is going to hell. That’s a mortal sin. God forbid he runs into a
Marine that was an Iwo Jima survivor,” Mates said.
Time managing editor Richard Stengel appeared on MSNBC April 17 to defend the magazine. He said the United States
needed to make a major effort to fight climate change, and that the
cover’s purpose was to liken global warming to World War II.
“[O]ne
of the things we do in the story is we say there needs to be an effort
along the lines of preparing for World War II to combat global warming
and climate change,” Stengel said.
But
Stengel said the cover was about advocacy in a later appearance. He
openly defied the traditional notion that journalists should be
unbiased. “I didn’t go to journalism school,”
Stengel said. “But this notion that journalism is objective, or must be
objective is something that has always bothered me – because the notion
about objectivity is in some ways a fantasy. I don’t know that there is
as such a thing as objectivity.”
He made those comments at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.,
on April 21. “My feeling is you have to grab people by the lapels and
say, ‘Hey, pay attention’ and that was the idea of doing this,” Stengel
said. “[I] just think you can’t be squeamish about trying to get
people’s attention.”
He
also admitted he understood the image might be offensive. “Yes,
absolutely,” Stengel said, reacting to a question if he thought some
might be offended by the cover. “I certainly hear that some people
would be offended by it. Obviously many people have – were offended by
it. But I do think, and I have made this case and I’ve made the case to
people who have talked about it, is that climate change and we can even
discuss the merits of it or not – climate change is going to affect
every living human being.”
In response to the cover, the Media Research Center, the parent of the Business & Media Institute, launched a petition that condemned the use of the iconic Iwo Jima photo as a global warming prop.
More than 33,000 signatures were collected for the petition, which called for immediate action by Time. The petition condemned the liberties the magazine took in addressing global warming:
MRC President Brent Bozell sent a letter dated April 23
to Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel also denouncing the magazine’s
use of the photo and the absence of an apology from Stengel. We have the recent rants of Al Gore ...

8/..And now, Time Magazine's Thoughtless sensationalism,
Which, totally disrespects the heroic deeds and sacrifices of our brave soldiers in Iwo Jima? All because the 'global warming' hypothesis, which, according to more and more prominent scientist, is NOT HAPPENING!!!
Whatever happened to Professionalism??
More Gore......

Check out the Ozone man's latest plea to 'save the planet'.By Michelle Nichols
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nobel Peace Prize winner and environmental
crusader Al Gore urged young people on Wednesday to engage in civil
disobedience to stop the construction of coal plants without the
ability to store carbon.
The former U.S. vice president, whose climate change documentary "An
Inconvenient Truth" won an Academy Award, told a philanthropic meeting
in New York City that "the world has lost ground to the climate crisis."
"If you're a young person looking at the future of this planet and
looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we
have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to
prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon
capture and sequestration," Gore told the Clinton Global Initiative
gathering to loud applause.
"I believe for a carbon company to spend money convincing the
stock-buying public that the risk from the global climate crisis is not
that great represents a form of stock fraud because they are
misrepresenting a material fact," he said. "I hope these state attorney
generals around the country will take some action on that."
The government says about 28 coal plants are under construction in
the United States. Another 20 projects have permits or are near the
start of construction.
Scientists say carbon gases from burning fossil fuel for power and transport are a key factor in global warming.
Carbon capture and storage could give coal power an extended lease
on life by keeping power plants' greenhouse gas emissions out of the
atmosphere and easing climate change.
But no commercial-scale project exists anywhere to demonstrate the
technology, partly because it is expected to increase up-front capital
costs by an additional 50 percent.
So-called geo-sequestration of carbon sees carbon dioxide liquefied
and pumped into underground rock layers for long term storage.
Uh, Al....What exactly do you mean by 'civil disobedience' ? Care
to elaborate ? You did not specify civil disobedience within the
boundaries of the law, did you? Are you willing to pay the fines of
these young people whom you have asked to do your dirty deeds if they
get arrested?
""the world has lost ground to the climate crisis."....
The world?? Perhaps Al is referring to the fact that more and more
prominent scientist worldwide are finding fault with the 'man made'
global warming hypothesis?
"I believe for a carbon company to spend money convincing the
stock-buying public that the risk from the global climate crisis is not
that great represents a form of stock fraud because they are
misrepresenting a material fact,".....
Material fact?? There is no evidence that carbon output factors into
climate. Speculation.?...Yes. Material fact?...NO!!! There is, however,
plenty of fraudulent information in your movie! And you, sir, pay your carbon offsets to a company that you are part owner of?
"But no commercial-scale project exists anywhere to demonstrate the
technology"...
Here we go! Time to use yet another unproven technology that is very
expensive, because of a hypothesis!! Can't we proceed with caution and
perfect this technology first?
Personally, I believe that Al
owes the public another apology for this kind of nonsense, but, then
again, he has never apologized for misleading us with his movie 'An
Inconvenient Truth'...which has been so shot full of holes, that it no
longer viable as a documentary.
Al has already scared the hell
out of children with his ridiculous, unsubstantiated doomsday
scenarios, now he's asking our young to break the law? It's time for Al
to fade away, and, count his money.
Warm milk....A shawl across his lap....his real puppy on his lap?
Now, the climate king has gone even further....
http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_10577439?source=rss
That's right.... Bail Al out!!!
Are You Serious, AL?????

Sometimes it's hard to keep you head on straight when things are going dangerously awry all around you. I'd bet that there are more that just the 40 residents of this Florida trailer park that are glad that this 16 year old hero did...
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A girl's e-mailed cry for help and her photos of rising flood waters saved 40 neighbors trapped in a submerged mobile home park.
Tiffany
Monk, 16, stood outside her Melbourne trailer during Tropical Storm Fay
on Thursday and noticed floodwaters slowly overtaking her community on
Eau Gallie Boulevard.
"There
were people trapped in their home," Monk said. "Water was rising and
there was no way out. (There were) people with oxygen tanks and
wheelchairs and there was no way out. They needed help."Monk snapped photos of Groveland Mobile Home Park and then sent e-mails."You
really have to see this," she said in e-mails she sent along with
photos of tires floating by in her road. "We are trapped in. Literally,
there is no way out.""Finally, I e-mailed the radio station
107.1 and I was like, 'Nobody seems to be coming in here to help us,'"
Monk said. "We need help and we are trapped in. And then 20 minutes
after that, news people started showing up here."Emergency
personnel realized the severity of the situation and sent large trucks
to pull out the elderly and disabled people who had a few feet of
standing water inside their trailers. Many were taken to the
shelter at Sherwood Elementary School in Melbourne. Police then took
some people back into their homes to save personal items."I was
just trying to help out the best I could," Monk said. "I've learned
that if you actually take action then someone might listen to you.""She
was worried about the elderly down there and nobody was doing
anything," Monk's mother, Connie said. "So, she decided to get on the
computer and see what I can get done."
Kudo's to you Tiffany Monk!!

Scientist from Russia and the UK have made a $10,000 wager on weather we are headed into the Icebox, or the Oven.....
Global cooling gains momentum among scientists
Aug 25, 2008 9:40 AM,

Two
weeks ago, after writing about the possibility that the Earth may
actually be entering a cooling phase, I braced myself for a torrent of
icy missives from the global warming crowd suggesting that the heat
must have fried my noggin.
By
the way, it is very difficult to discuss global cooling in the midst of
a summer when temperatures are hovering around 100 degrees and crops
are wilting. As one friend and colleague from the sweltering Southwest
noted after reading the column, “Please send some of that cooling this
way.”
However,
one response opened my eyes to the growing community of global warming
skeptics out there, most of them merited scientists. I thought it might
be worth presenting their thoughts — a little equal time if you will.
Marc Marona, a global warming skeptic who works for the U.S. Senate
Committee on Environmental and Public Works, sent me these excerpts
from a U.S. Senate report.
Russian
solar physicists Galina Mashnich and Vladimir Bashkirtsev are so
convinced that global temperatures will cool within the next decade
they have placed a $10,000 wager with a United Kingdom scientist to
prove their certainty. The criteria for the $10,000 bet will be to
compare global temperatures between 1998 and 2003 with those between
2012 and 2017. The loser will pay up in 2018, according to an April 16,
2007, article in Live Science.
Australian
engineer Peter Harris says that the Earth is nearing the end of the
typical interglacial cycle and is due for a sudden cooling climate
change. “Based on this analysis we can say that there is a 94 percent
probability of imminent global cooling and the beginning of the coming
ice age.
“Climate
is becoming unstable,” Harris went on to say. “Most of these major
natural processes that we are witnessing now are interdependent and
occur at the end of each interglacial period, ultimately causing sudden
long-term cooling.”
Oleg
Sorokhtin, merited scientist of Russia and fellow of the Russian
Academy of Natural Sciences and staff researcher of the Oceanology
Institute, says to “stock up on fur coats and felt boots! Earth is now
at the peak of one of its passing warm spells. It started in the 17th
century when there was no industrial influence on the climate to speak
of and no such thing as the hothouse effect.
“Carbon
dioxide is not to blame for global climate change, Sorokhtin said.
“Solar activity is many times more powerful than the energy produced by
the whole of humankind. Man’s influence on nature is a drop in the
ocean.”
Canadian
climatologist Timothy Ball said, “If we are facing (a crisis) at all, I
think it is that we are preparing for warming when it is looking like
we are cooling. We are preparing for the wrong thing.”
On
the impact of carbon dioxide on global temperature, United Kingdom
astrophysicist Piers Corbyn said, “There is no evidence that carbon
dioxide has ever driven or will ever drive world temperatures and
climate change. Worrying about carbon dioxide is irrelevant.”
So
there you have it folks — solid evidence from the other side of the
global warming fence and critical thinking I’m sure you won’t hear much
about outside this space.
To
be honest, I’m not sure which global weather consequence is more
daunting — to be ice fishing in Florida or planting cotton in Maine.
But politicians and the popular press should speak out for the
resumption of genuine, open debate on climate change. Global warming is
not necessarily a foregone conclusion.
Was
Al Gore's number one henchman Dr. James Hansen, and, Time Magazine
right when they claimed we were headed for another ice age back in the
seventies?
Either way, Mr. Robinsons last two paragraphs in the article say a mouthful.
Personally,
I don't know who will be collecting in ten years time, but, my money is
on the Russians. Why.....Because they factor the sun (solar cycles)
into the equation.
