I was appalled when I heard this story from my sister-in-law. She is a Breast Cancer survivor and decided to walk in the "3 Day Breast Cancer Walk" this year. When she called up to register, she was told that she would have to get donations totaling $2,000 in order to participate. When she inquired if she could walk even if she couldn't collect the whole amount, she was told "No". Is this insane or what?! What charity would not be glad to get $500 or $1000 or $1500?? What a sad state of affairs! I've seen many commercials for this Breast Walk, but they fail to mention that you need to collect $2000 to be a part of it!

I've heard that before. If true that is too bad. You would think they would be greatful for any amount. Every little bit does add up.

Sounds like a story my sister told me about 8 years ago. .. she started a job in a restaurant in downtown cleveland... at the end of the shift instead of throwing sandwiches away... that were perfectly fine...she decided to put them in a bag to pass out to the homeless people... as she started to hand out the sandwiches... the homeless people shouted "" we don't want no damn bologna sandwiches ""!!!!!!

For some that sounds about right. It kind of bothers me sometimes when I hear that in order to donate things such as cloths they will not except used. Most would not donate something used that is a rag. They would donate things that are in very good shape (like new) Since when did people with nothing become so demanding?

It is like that Toys for Tots at Christmas they will only except brand new toys in packages. My mom tried to donate my younger siblings no longer used toys. They were in great shape and had all the pieces. They were like brand new except no packaging. They told her no. So she sold them either at a garage sale or donated them to thrift stores.

I don't understand why people with nothing are becoming demanding either or if it is just the people who are collecting.

Heck I'm not poor but I rather go to the thrift store and spend 1-3 dollars a nice shirt then spend upwards to 10-20 dollars on a top. Nothing wrong with used.

Thrift stores have some really nice cloths. You just have to sift thru the junk. Especially the one in Cuyahoga Falls by Grahm road. Really nice designer cloths. And some even have the tags still on them.

Its like many churchs now a days. They want you to base your tidings on how much you earn. 10% of your wages are suppose to go to them, rather than excepting what you CAN give. You have to fill out a wage statement for church? They send you envelopes along with an amount of your predetermined donation. I would imagine the church figures your not going to lie about how much you make!

I thought about doing the 3day and you are correct, you have to get that much money or you cannot walk. Sucks.

Then don't make ignorant comments about my city! Obviously a city with more population has more incidents of crime. I guess out in Orrville where the population is about 25, you don't have that problem. And yes, us Clevelanders expect to be safe, just like you do. Once again, with a population of 250,000, there are a small percentage of people who have a screw loose. My comment was not ignorant, just sarcastic, because we don't appreciate you knocking our neighborhood. And since this is a public forum, I can answer your questions with any comments I wish.

LIFE is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out and proclaiming, "WOW - WHAT A RIDE"!!!!!
