Recent developments in the state budget has Governor Schwarzenegger suggesting massive cuts across the board. Schwarzenegger, who is a strong supporter of education (at least that's what the email sent from his website said) plans massive cuts for K-12 funding.

In an effort to reduce spending California school officials have made cuts by layoffs, canceling pupil services, and anything else that they can think of. I should say that the teacher layoffs were a last resort for these officials. In a local school district officials have decided to start charging families for transportation in order to offset their budget and keep from laying off teachers. This is nothing new to most districts as it has been in effect for a number of years at most.

OK, so here is the catch, the cost is $365 for one student, $300 for the second, and $235 for the third, every child after the third is no charge. There are also some cases that the district will waive the charges, here is one. Any child who receives free and reduced lunch will have the fee waived, however effective the new school year any parent applying for free and reduced lunch for their children) must provide their W-2 to show hardship and must show proof of citizenship.

The reason the district has asked for this documentation is two fold, one-too many individuals that really don't qualify are taking advantage of the program, two non-citizens who are disqualified from the program and this should reduce costs signifigantly.

Keep tightening the noose around our Illegal Alien Crisis! Next up should be, no Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits to Illegal Aliens. That'll save money as well.....a lot of money...

You know it DfD! Our local district, without naming it, is very conservative and we like it like that. Don't get me wrong though, it is a burden when you are forced to decide on the education of children and technical reasons why they shouldn't be allowed to participate, it comes down to choosing the lesser of two injustices, meaning, the taxpayer has the right plain and simple, nothing else matters!

Thats a great step to take. Maybe it will help. Other things that would help are doing away with sex education in the schools. Spend that money on things that matter like math and english. Bring back corporal punishment as an option so that kids learn to be more respectful.

I don't know about corporal punishment, with all the children who are being tortured at home by their own families, do you really think that would be a wise move? Lets face it, even with the background checks and live finger printing, you still have a mathematical probability of getting a wacko in the bunch!
As for sex ed, lot of time consumption, however parents do have the right to option out of the class and take that responsibility themselves. The problem is, quite a few don't. I believe that abstinence should always take the forefront to birth control.

if you think that by thightening the noose on illegal aliens by cutting medical and medicare benifits will help alot I think different first we choose medical not because I dont want to pay for those outrageous doctor fees but I cannot afford it and if you eliminate it you will cause helpless and confused children they are the future of these great country and plus dont you think of all the people down at the county office that will loose there jobs and those same people that were accepting applications for medical will now be asking for one because they cannot affored it no more its easy to just say to cut things out but if you stop feeding and taking benifits away from people that cannot afford it not only illegals because these any person these country will not be what makes it great in 20 or 30 years from know just because you did not give them a chance you try to go to work sick and with no food I am not upset just would like to get my point from my point of view thanks

I think you have it backwards, the act of eliminating State or Federal benefits to non-residents will in no way affect the benefits of American citizens, on the contrary it would more than likely increase the availability of funds for citizens and provide better care.
I think many Americans have gone to work under poor health so that they wouldn't feel the threat of losing their job to the hundreds of people that are waiting in line for it due to the overwhelming presence of illegal laborers who work for sub-standard wages and undermine job security.

my comment was made on things that i see around me either at work or and what I talk to other Citizens and dont tell me about going to work ill the way I see it at work the first sings of a cold or a sore muscles the guys take the day off I am happy to work for the company I work for but since they offer alot of payed time off alot of guys take advantage of it I feel that your comment about providing better care and having more funds avalible will be only cause people to take advantege of it I see it at work all the time the more slack you give them the more they take advantage and dont tell me you have never thought of hiring a laborer to save a couple hundreds and if you never thought about it i am responding to the wrong person by the way I work for a office supply retaile store and if i loose my job they will hire another person but with legal papers so americans should not feel the threat of loosing there job to these laborers unless you work for a company that does not verify status thank you

Just so you know, I received your first post. I look at them first before people get out of hand.
Your right, you do have the wrong guy! I would never hire some idiot off the street... what for so he can pretend to work and then later on come back and rip me off? Or maybe I should just give them a key to my house and while I'm at it show them where I keep my firearms so they can kill me with them!
As for your issue with people using their benefits... sounds like your pissed off because you don't use your benefits that the company offers you and others do. Have you ever stopped to think that your employer is not as dumb as you think they are? Don't you think that they took into account when they put your benefits package together that some people would take the sick time even if they were not sick? The fact is... they did! They know people are going to use those benefits and it is to there advantage to offer them to you. They factor in how much time they can offer you without losing production and still keep the employee's happy, because happy employee's equal more production and no union.
Maybe you should look for a job that you like to do that way you won't have anything to complain about and it will be like your getting paid to do nothing.
Now about social benefits... where do you see people taking advantage of the system? I see it right now! If you think that disqualifying people that are non-citizens from social services is going to cause more Americans to take advantage of social services, I don't understand where you see that. The fact is that there are employe

The fact is that there are employers out there who hire illegals, and those illegals undercut the ability of Americans to earn decent wages. In turn those same illegals are some of the people who take advantage of the social services programs. Answer me this... how is it possible for an American to take advantage of a social service program that was created for Americans? Don't be trivial and tell me that there are people out there that want a free ride, I know that, but the way I see it... the illegals are the ones that want a free ride, a free ride to citizenship!

were abviuosly very different you dont understand my point of view and I dont understand yours but what the heck that means we are not the same by the way I am happy with my employer and I used my benifits as needed and and about a free ride to citizenship my ride to being legal was nothing but a free ride maybe that is how it is where you live not down here and I think we only are about 7 miles apart up the 15 we will leave it at that and have a happy day

I am very proud to call you a fellow American, I would like you to understand that the comment about a free ride has nothing to do with your particular situation, rather it is meant for those that don't want to take the appropriate steps to become citizens like my Grandfather did and like you did. That is the point that most of the opponents to amnesty are trying to make here. By the way... it has nothing to do with being from Mexico, I realize that there are illegals here in America from the four corners of the earth.
Where I live, 1 mile takes you into a whole new world, let alone 7 miles. I don't know what that has to do with the subject though?
Glad to have had this opportunity to discuss with you, Good Day to you.
