Yes the strike is over and the writers are going back to work ..in their wake they have single handily all but destroyed the industry as we once knew it on the way stabbing SAG in the back as a final gesture..network television will now be reality shows and shows from Canada with Canadian actors nobody heard of ..true the hit shows like HOUSE ,DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES,HEROES,CSI,24,etc will all be back  for now but the shows that weren't doing so good or were on the bubble will not be.without even giving them a chance so hundreds of people will still be out of work as well as a lot of actors..not only that NBC ,CBS have both said they will only do a few or not any pilots.instead getting pilots from Canada leaving even more without work..and for what?so they can pay a bunch of people who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves..what the writers don't realize is that they cut their own throats and played into the hands of the AAMPTP..within the next three years you will see a drastic change in television..The WGA thinks they got a good deal..in reality they just signed their death warrant and they took a lot of innocent people with them..I hope they are happy.

Okay my friend so can you now clarify all the issues that will lead to the destruction of the entire entertainment industry for me? Thanks for your time if you choose to post your issues on this as you have my undivided attention.

true they may have gotten what they wanted ..because or their ineptness of knowing the bargaining system they allowed a strike to go on months more than it should have in the mean time television stations have moved to include more reality shows most of those are half or non union with no actors..to pay for the costs to pay these writers production companies look at ways to juggle money from one to pay another ..this is why now pilot season what was once almost 20% of your income because of the amount of work and the only time outside people who want to work in the industry had a chance to get in has been all but scrapped and the few pilots they do plan to do will not help the people who are out of work as we are all basically day players..both NBC and CBS are now working with CTV(Canadian )for pilots and shows that undermine all the industry SAG IATSE TEAMSTERS..Canada is this industry's mortal enemy ..the networks will only now invest time and money into hit shows and not take chances on new ones thereby shrinking the number of people who work on them as more and more reality shows and television shows come in from Canada ..as a result of that the industry's employees will be cut by about 40% as there is not enough work for all ..and unless there are that many more features going on..it will become more bleak for everyone..unless the public calls or e-mails or writes to the television stations for more scripted television..television will never be what it was before the strike ever again..

Well I agree that Canada is a mortal enemy of the American entertainment worker, but I will not foist that upon the WGA. I rather foist that upon NAFTA and the un-enforcement by both the Bush Administration and the entire U.S. Congress, both houses to make it so that American hands are making American products sold to foreign markets. Actually some reality shows will remain but the studios will be going back to their former schedules which should render a pickup in work, not just short term but rather long term. Where runaway production will continue though is in the features. This is something only the industry as a whole and the Feds and Local governments can stop. By the way I do not believe at this point there will be a secondary strike. It appears that SAG/AFTRA may find negotiating easy though anything can change. but so far it looks promising that a strike will not happen, so let us all keep our fingers crossed that another long strike is not in the making. Keep the faith!!!

i did not put it on the WGA. production has been going to Canada for quite some time but never as much as you will see it(I'm talking television)reality shows are anti union and the more that you see the more union workers are out of work.and as some shows yes will be back many wont as there is no room for them or the writers actors or driver or labor forces who work on them so they will be looking for jobs that wont exist ..paranoia ?i think not it was the 1988 WGA strike that gave us Americas most wanted and .cops..not that those shows aren't a good thing but it took the place of what would have been two scripted television shows ..now look at the amount of reality TV there is today..all those shows would have been scripted shows more writers actors Teamsters and IATSE workers would be working right now ..so whats more important having union jobs or finding out who the best karaoke singer is?as for SAG i don't believe they will strike it serves them no purpose as the writers strike proved you don't need actors to do reality shows ..

Well not all true my friend. The studios know that people want entertainment besides sports and reality shows and in addition, they want productions made in Hollywood. It is a major growing awareness and California has woken up on a number of fronts to this reality of runaway productions. I feel actually, we are seeing a slow down in runaway productions to Canada even in major flicks. Remember that productions have for many years now been in some fashion globalized as parts have been made here or there....cont'd

31 years ago a very popular 20th Century FOX feature called Star Wars hit the screen. But it's production actually occured several years earlier like 1973/74/75 before it went to the 1976 release. The a solid chunk of the Actors were actually British including some leads. And parts of the production were off shored, not everything was performed here on American soil, so runaway production to a certain extent has been around longer then many wish to acknowledge, though granted, never as bad as today. However, it is my belief that many local shows will continue on the small screen and also cable as well. It will remain a split on the features, but that too may change.

it has changed for Canada when they started being all but equal to US production as costs go and the biggest draw back in filming there is you are taxed by both governments ..so if all thing are equal why go there?i understand all that my point is now more scripted television will come from there shows will be filmed there then sold to US production here by doing that your costing hundreds of lost union US jobs ..unlike feature film who brings the company to Canada ..every thing is done by Canadians in Canada but airs in US markets.undermining US union labor..and i agree people want scripted television but do you think they giveadamn where it comes from check the ratings on the L-Word ..and your wrong about anyone caring about keeping things in hollywood or even this state ..if they did this state would give tax incentives to production companies that's what they do in New Mexico Louisiana and New York..and that's why they are the number two ,three, and four places for filming in the US besides here and they are growing each year this state is driving the film business out of here..because they don't care ..just like the aerospace industry..there are very few businesses of this magnitude left in California..its why we have gone from being if we were a country the third richest to slowly becoming a third word country..

I'm sorry craftyguy i didn't realize you were on the other end of the "HOLLYWOOD" team . You are one of the unlucky people who is lucky enough to be in the "HOLLYWOOD " scene but at the same time you heve the bad end of the stick. I AM SORRY ... I wonder if these people even realizes that there were so many others involved and if they did why were you people not considered when they decided to o put everyones jobs on the line? i mean i am sure that writing is not always an easy job and that there are ""PRESSURES"" all over in that business but how sad is it that when thinking about striking that the people who keep your job going aren't considered? You and sebar are in the same crowd of people but very different ends of the spectrum. Show business is a very complicated and sad business no matter what part you play in it. Kepp up with your work and remember that at least you still have a job and you are important to your family and the industry. My job is just as important as any writers i have 2 wonderful children a loving husband and a mouth that won't quit . But you know it is nice to see there are real people out there who come from different backgrounds and to know we are all still just people in need of friendship and family . KEEP THE FAITH AND JEEP DOING YOUR JOB THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF!! IN THE END ALL DOES WORK OUT!! MAYBE NOT RU=IGHT WAY BUT IT COMES BEFORE YOU KNOW IT. :)

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS 12/26/07 POST MADE BY A "NISCHELLE" FAN. WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ON THIS FANS IDEA FOR A HOST LINE UP ON THE MORNING SHOWS???

Posted: Dec/26/2007 7:38 PM

I just wanna comment on Good day l.a! Jillian set in stone,so is Steve! Now if we could get fox to see that there is a lil room for witty,ms. Nischelle,we be good! I also think that bobbi d,should fill in along side Tony? And Nischelle, since she is so cheerful and witty she could so fit in to celebrity gossip, along side jillian and Steve! Or if Steve retires, the picture could be,Jillian,Tony and Nischelle !Then Jean and Bobbi D,or Bobbi D and Elizabeth. I'll let the people that matter work it out! But listen Fox,change is good, and very much appreciated!
