Double Standard

I just read on the home page of myfoxcleveland that a female substitute teacher was sentenced to three days in jail, six months house arrest, and five years probation for having an affair with a 17 year old boy whom she also got pregnant by. 

 

If this teacher in question was a man who has sex with a female student and gotten her pregnant he would have been sent to prison and been put on the sex offender list. I am personally disgusted by the double standard there is. 

Irregardless of whether or not the sex was consensual any male or female teacher who has an affair with an under age student has both committed the same crime. Except it seems that woman get off with a lighter sentence. It is a horrible double standard. I think she deserved to be punished as a male teacher would have. The judge decided not to send her to prison because she has kids (two others and the one she had with the student). Personally these children are better off without a mother like that but that is my two cents.

I think the underlying issue here is what kind of morals and values can someone with this character be teaching our children? And you are right, same crime, same punishment. Sounds like she took sex education to the extreme. I truly hope she has been barred from the educational system !

I totally agree. In most cases women do seem to get lighter sentances.

Didn't have any teachers like that when I was in school 38 years ago. I feel my education is incompleat by new standards.

One of the reasons she got a lighter sentence was because the boy and his family gave their consent to it because she has small children at home. Not saying it's right - but that's what happened.

my 2 cents....You're right, but I want to ask a question here. Is it because in the case of a woman teacher with a boy student the general population feels that he had to like it (a male has to have an erect penis)?

I'm not saying it was right, as I said I totally agree she got off too easy---but what about the men out there. Just look at coyotedave's comment above. Most guys would say the same thing.

I know what you are saying Pikie but either way it is still statutory rape irregardless if the underage student consented or not. Sometimes even in fear a man can still get erect.

See when an underage guy has sex with his female teacher the men around him will give him high five's and way to go's.

If it was a underage girl having sex with a male teacher it is moral outrage

Butterfly... I'm with you on this one. Ms. Pikie, you also bring up a good point. I hate to come across as arrogant, but coyote's comment made me LOL. Incompleat ??? Whether or not a CHILD consented, is LUDICROUS. Male or female,IT DOESN'T MATTER! If you molest or abuse a child, there should be some serious consequences. Life is not a game of Monopoly. There should be no "get out of jail" free cards. Oh how sad. The perv has small children/child of her own. Was she thinking about them, while she violating, someone else's child ??? Who's to say that she hasn't already victimized her own? They may simply be too young to understand...yet.
