The New Dollar Coins

I think the new dollar coins are a waste of resources. The US mint could use our tax dollars for something else. I remember back in 2000 or 2001 they came out with the Sacajawea dollar coins that were suppose to use be a new way to pay a dollar. Well how many of those do you really see? I get some as change when I use the stamp machine at the post office but they are not really in mass circulation. I have cashiered for 4+ years and I very rarely if ever see one.

With the dollar losing more value with each passing year, I'm all for eliminating the paper dollars altogether. The average life span of a paper bill is aobut two years. Average life of a coin: over 10 times longer. Why keep repeatedly printing $1 bills?

...Strippers can strap little change machines to their legs I suppose!

The problem is people collect these coins instead of using them to spend. If they seriously want to replace the dollar bill with coins then they need another plan of action.

It worked in Canada but we need to take away the paper bill to make it work.
