Ok, I just can't contain myself.
First, the racist crap I see in these blogs makes me ill. I would like to see Fox take away these blogs now, as it is so far out of hand, however I am for freedom of speech no matter how ignorant. I may not agree with what someone says, but I will stand and fight for their right to say it. I served for that purpose. I reserve the right to respond and tell people they are a dumb ass too.
Second, to an unnamed loudmouth. Who are you, YOU, to decide what I need, want, like or do? I looked, the constitution is for me too. I have a right. Quit stepping on my rights. I served in the military. I'm an expert with weapons. I had a whole vault of automatic weapons, grenade launchers, machine guns, and my own tank, all the fun stuff we are talking about here.
I'm also a gun owner, and guess what, not a killer either. So why does it concern you that I would have an automatic weapon, semi automatic gun, or a gun over .50 caliber? Oops, I should only say gun- the military and police have weapons, and I'm not using your words to validate my point. Done picking on you now, you know who you are.
I'm a union official, and believe in things that one guy here keeps referring to as liberal. Guess what, I am very pro gun. So quit using the term liberal. Jesus was the first big liberal by any standard. Liberal and conservative don't mean much anymore.
Here are some things to think about.
People DO hunt deer with AK-47s as well as other guns termed assault style. They work well, and the deer don't seem to notice the difference.
Semi-automatic is not single shot, is not automatic. HENCE THE DIFFERENT TERMINOLOGY! None of that has anything to do with someone who shoots someone else. Dead is dead, murder is murder, the weapon is irrelevant.
An armed population in their own land is almost impossible to win an attack on.
A strong military is good, so long as the people are able to defend themselves against their own military.
A President is very close to a dictator when they wield control over the people.
Counting on someone else to protect you makes you a chicken, or uneducated in self defense. You make yourself your protectors servant.
The police chiefs of the 3 largest cities in the USA said a gun ban would have no affect on the crime rates in their cities. ( I saw them say it, I didn't hear about it second hand and get a mistranslation)
And for those of you who are for a ban on certain types of weapons or guns I have this.
A man asked a woman to sleep with him. She said "No." He asked her if she would sleep with him for a million dollars. She said "Well I would if you gave me a million dollars." He said "How about for ten bucks?" She said "What do you think I am, a prostitute?" He said "We just settled that. We're just haggling over price now."
Ok, the point is, people want to draw lines where they want them on all subjects. (Plus I got to tell a semi dirty joke.) This topic is no different in that respect.
The difference is that the issue was settled 200 years ago by a group of people who were aiming to protect a new nation from the wrongs of an oppressive government they had seen, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State" and also allow people the right of self defense "the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Notice that the word People, as in "We the People".
Our forefathers knew that sooner or later the government would take too much power unto itself. Jefferson said it would be good for any people to revolt at a frequency of not greater than 20 years. They knew we would be under attack, and left it to the People to stand ready. If the first amendment fails us, we have the 2nd.
The National Rifle Association is an organization that believes strongly in education, freedom and responsibility, as well as crime prevention. As for the idea that some of their ideas are over the edge, it depends on how free you want to be, and how much you trust someone else to protect you. I like the line where it is.
P.S. I'm a Democrat for all the "Conservatives" who thought otherwise. I think the NRA "Shoots itself in the foot" (Pardon the pun) by trying to divide the people by party lines. That's big party politics, why I'm not a member and a subject for a different blog.
