Jail Inmates Sickened by E. Coli 70 inmates have fallen ill Last Edited: Wednesday, 11 Jul 2007, 5:49 PM MDT

GOLDEN --
A food-borne illness caused by E. coli is behind an outbreak of illness among dozens of inmates at the Jefferson County jail, sheriff's officials said Wednesday.
About 70 inmates have reported symptoms including severe abdominal cramping, diarrhea, vomiting and a low-grade fever. An investigation began Friday, and 37 inmates were still ill and one was hospitalized Wednesday, sheriff's officials said.
The illnesses were blamed on Shiga toxin-producing E. coli. County health officials were awaiting further test results to determine the exact strain of the bacteria, said Mark Johnson, head of the county health department. Health officials were trying to determine what food might have been contaminated and how. The bacteria can be spread by unwashed hands or contact with fecal material.
Historically, outbreaks have been tied to eating undercooked ground beef, raw milk, unpasteurized apple juice, contaminated water, red leaf lettuce, alfalfa sprouts and venison jerky, though the bacteria have also been associated with poultry, pork and lamb.
Those infected typically can recover without complications.
<< Let's take bets on how long it is before the first lawsuit by an inmate is filed. How much do you think it will cost taxpayers this time? I'll give it a week before word goes out of the first lawsuit and it will exceed 5 million dollars for pain and suffering. >>

Is it just me or is the benefit concert for raising awareness to global warming nothing more than a face showing of the hippocratic elitest pigs?
All I can do is shake my head in disgust and disbelief. Do I want a polluted world? Of course not. But I also DO NOT live or preach the gospel from the standpoint of "do as I say, not as I do" mentallity such as Al Gore does. All the typical arguements have been made such as, the electrical use to put on the concert, the trash generated by concert goers, etc... Let's not forget the fossil fuels used to stain, paint, and varnish those pretty instruments used by the musicians. And the carbon exhaled by such large groups of people gathered at one place at one time just can not be good for mother earth. Uh huh! See the silliness and ridiculousness in all of this? I do.
Al Gore and supporters have no arguement for their pigish consumption while preaching conservation practices other than to say that the awareness raised by such a concert will create a savings to more than cover their use of what it is that they themselves want us to use less of. ie: hippocrate.
Mr. Gore, you talk the talk. When will you walk the walk? And buying carbon credits does what? Someone explain that please?

Hello everyone. This is my first time blogging on myfoxco. There is alot going on in our world. I personally think we are losing the country by the day. AS a registered republican and two time voter for "W" I have to say that I am regretting his presidency as of late.
More specifically, this immigration bill that he wants. Many of you may not think some of the potential outcomes or hazards of such a bill will ever happen. I'm here to tell you that they will, and if for one minute you don't believe they will, you're fooling yourself. We need to stop pointing at those on the left or the right and start talking to each other as Americans. We all care about this country and love our freedom. But if we don't wake up and start acting it's going to be too late, if it alreay isn't.
One resounding comment that raises the hair on my neck and sends fury through my veins is, "the Mexicans are doing the jobs Americans won't do". Horse puckey! When is the last time you knew of Americans not installing roofs, or building houses, or pouring concrete, or working in the meat industy, or driving trucks?
Racism is not the issue concerning us with immigration. Those are labels given by those who fear us, the law abiding, tax paying, hard working Americans. The issue is Americas sovereignty. We are all immigrants except for those who are of full American Indian blood. My family immigrated here legally and assimilated.
We must take a stand for our country. We are losing it to big, fat, cigar smoking billionaires and socialist agenda minded freaks. If you think this country can not fall you're dead wrong. I'm sure the Romans did not think they could fall either, but they did.
