I am around schools everyday of the week, and have noticed youngboys with tatoos, on their arms and necks.

I am presuming parents are allowing these kids to get these tatoos, because, you have to have parent's consent to get a tot if you are underage.

What I am wondering is why a parent would let an underage child get a tatoo, and are the rules at schools allowing these?

How young are you talking? I guess there could be 18 year olds still in school lol.
My daughter wanted a tat when she turned 18. I told her I really did'nt like it and wished she would'nt. But..she was 18 and its her body and she was paying for it and she's the one that has to live with it.Well, she did get it. Its not very big and its in the small of her back so I rarely see it(which is good). She showed it to me afterwards when it was all puffy and red and I told her "I hope it hurt like hayull" lol.Thats been about 5 years ago now. She's a good girl and is out on her own, supporting herself well..but she does'nt show the tat off like alot do.They are not for the underaged ones.

Rule in my home is...No Tatoos, No body Piercing (other than single piercing in you ear after 14) on body parts until you are out of the house and paying your own bills.

My mom didn't let us either...but, I got a hold of the indian ink and a good needle and did one on myself. A nice little heart on my ankle. I was sixteen.

If they want it, they will get it.

My son works in a tattoo shop and several parents have tried to file charges for underage kids getting tattoos. But, so long as the shop can show that the kid showed an ID stating that he/she was old enough, the police will not do anything.

But, with a parents consent, they will do one.

When you are in a gang or a gang wannabe then a tatoo goes along way.

even if not gang related this has been a trend for a while.

They wont need jobs so there is no worry there :)

Tats on the neck sure look good during a jb interview...especially for customer related jobs....

Texas state law no one under 21 can get a tat even with parental consent, so they are getting illegally, or doing it themselves.

Jla, I don't know where you got your information, but it's wrong. You can get a tat at 18 with proper ID with no parental consent. The only thing you have to be 21 for is alcohol.

Ya know....I always find it funny how alot of people say that the ones with tatts, long hair or piercings will not go a long way or get good jobs.

I work for a worldwide company full of engineers and administrators and I see alot of this.

Alot of jobs are not that anal anymore.

It's not only gang members that get the tatts or gangster wanna-be's....alot of men and women come back from the services with them.

You are right Scotty.

Oh, sorry....just asked my son.

You have to be 18 to get a tattoo w/o parental consent.

My daughter has been gettin tats without my consent since she was 18, she's now 20 and she has a very good job. You're right LMK, alot of companies just don't care that much anymore.

Oh, and my hubby and I both have tats and have never been in a gang or had any desire to. So, it's not just gang members and service people that have tats. Alot of regular people have them, too

not allowed in my house under my roof. when you live on your own and pay bills....go for it.
my company is strict about tatts and piercings. public perception is very important.
and btw, you are suppose to be 18, but i know many girls who have the "tramp stamp" on their lower back....and they were not 18. the police do nothing about it.
I told my daughter to wait until she was 25 and if she still wanted it, i'd pay for it. the girls at school have done it. i use to joke about a 4 leaf clover on my behind so i could be a lucky azz. she asked if she could do smart on her's...to be a smart azz. no tatts on either of us. hopefully by 25, she will realize it's stupid. especially watching her aunt on her wedding day trying her best to cover tacky tatts while wearing a beautiful wedding gown. that memory is still vivid in my daughters mind, and she was 78 when they got married.

The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people don't give a darn if you don't have a tattoo! How does it go around here?!?.... just sayin'!

Actually Texas Law say's noone under the age of 18 can get inked because of liability issue's I know because my son wanted one and he's 17 and they said no even if I would consent he has to be 18,So they either know someone or have a fake I.D.

I say to each thier own, Chatterbug.

I have 3 of them and have no problem with anyone over them.

Unless, they are the kind of people that arn't bold enough to tell me what they think.

But, even if they are, I will tell you.....It's my body, not yours. If you don't like it, stop staring at it.

If you want one, get it...if not then don't.

But, no one needs to go around judging those who do.

It does not make anyone any less than you because they have a tattoo. It's thier character.

You are absolutely right Luv I have tats myself and if you don't like them by all means don't look at them its a personal choice and has nothing to do with gangs and what-not.

It used to be that a tattoo was something considered risky or even low class. Now it's become a fashion statement, although it can become a costly liability if you want to get certain professional jobs. Any teacher at our school who as tattoos, even military tattoos, has to have them covered. I have seen fairly young boys and girls, some as young as 15, with extensive tattoos. So, it has to be with parental consent. Parents must be clueless.

Why clueless, TTB?

I allowed my son at 16 to get one. So, what made ME clueless?

lol

Just because it's not your caviar does not mean that anyone is clueless, low class, unprofessional, etc...

Like I said before....they will do it with or without your concent.

I hid it from my mom for a whole year.

Oh, and btw....my son...who is now 24..has a wonderful wife, who is a nurse and has just landed him a very good job working security for a very big business that I am sure everyone here walks into atleast a few times a month.
